    I personally found the book quite profound. I come from a naturalist/ materialist background and found the acceptance of miracles and the supernatural to be a massive stumbling block in my journey to faith. This book helped me tremendously to reframe my perspective on the structure of existence in a way to allow for miracles. I agree that it isn't for everyone, but for the people it is for it is one of the most powerful works of its kind.

    One who does not believe in miracles will never see one even after perceiving it. This means that seeing requires believing. Therefore, the first step to witnessing a miracle is to be open-minded about the nature and possible supernature of reality. Using an open-minded lens that the supernatural realm can exist leads us to believing and finally seeing miracles... everywhere.

    I am currently reading it, and I can see how it can be difficult to comprehend. However what I do is try to simply the language, find synonyms fro the more academic words and it begins to make a bit more sense, example: "inference" use Deduction
    I suggest that you take some time with a computer or a dictionary and look for synonyms. It begins to make a lot more sense. I a fluent english speaker and this is what i do with a lot of books that I read.

      Good approach! It just might be too time consuming for most people :/

      It really is not as time consuming as you think. Google is a great resource. Just look up Synonyms or definitions.@@BiblicalBookworm

    The book is amazing. Yes, it can be said to be "difficult", because the topics with which it deals are in themselves, even more difficult. It's a book that is greatly needed, especially given the weakness of today's philosophical musings on such topics. Blessings!

      I agree! I started to appreciate its value only recently. Some questions require rather complex answers and the possibility of miracales is one of these questions.

    Thanks for your in-depth review. I can personally attest to supernatural miraculous healings of my father’s cancer and my mother coming back to life from a heart failure after desperate prayers from the side of the road as she was dying. So therefore I’m gonna give this one a read since I enjoy C.S Lewis’s writings and I’m curious how he actually explained them. I really appreciate you sharing us the link for the pdf file as well. Have a lovely week Elisabeth! 😊

    If C.S Lewis was alive today, he would have 100% become Catholic - he believed in the real presence, purgatory etc.

    • @Caratcarrotcar
      @Caratcarrotcar Рік тому

      in Lewis’ view, purgatory exists not to satisfy God’s sense of justice in punishing the unrepentant, but rather to purify believers in preparation for their everlasting home in God’s presence; so not, in the same way, the Roman Catholic believe it

    • @telephonebear21

      @@Caratcarrotcar That is exactly how Roman Catholics believe it

    • @BiblicalBookworm
      @BiblicalBookworm  Рік тому +5

      @@Caratcarrotcar Catholics don't believe that purgatory is a punishment for the unrepentant. That would be a very weird thing to believe. It's a purification as you said, in order to make souls who haven't reached perfection in this life "worthy" of God's presence.

    Welcome back! I believe in miracles even though I have never seen them happen before personally. I have faith that miracles happen every day in my life and in the life of others. I say my life because I am sure small miracles are still true. I don’t think a miracle needs to be a “big “ miracle to be considered one. And I am sure I have had many more miracles that I don’t know about either. Or is it a miracle only if I know about it? I think it’s a miracle whither I know or not! Thank you for the great video. I hope you have a wonderful week.😊🧁

      You have never seen a miracle? That must depend on what you define as miracle. 🤔 I thought that for most people an encounter with the supernatural is the final reason for their belief in God 🤔
      Have a great week! 🧁😊
