Thanks for the excellent review. I've been wearing barefoot shoes for only 6 months now and although not easy it was a worthwhile transition. I do alot of walking, hiking and trail running. Just got these gobi 3's today for more casual wear and can already tell I'm going to love them.
Another Gobi-head! I've 3 pair of Gobi II plus the Moc toe and the Lux version (thicker leather). Freaking love these shoes. My main driver as well for 5 years now. I've also a pair of the Scott boot which is awesome for winter... little thicker all around and insulated (plus Ive some wool inserts in them) that I wear in winter, as well as the Tracker Forest ESC (amazing snow grip). Both are awesome for cold weather.
This is the comment I was hoping for! Okay, so you think I'd do alright with the Scott boot for a Wisconsin winter then? We moved to a significantly colder climate (Oregon to Wisconsin) but I wanna be sure I can continue to wear a barefoot boot. I'll check out the Tracker Forest as well. In the meantime, I'll keep rockin' the Gobi III! Thanks for sharin' ChickenTender ~Mason
Awesome review man! Lots of great reviews on these but yours definitely shows the love you have for these boots. I've had my Gobi II's for several months now, and they're soo good. Office wear, hiking in Tennessee mountains, partying it up in bars. I use them for everything! And that bracken color just goes with everything and anything. I do have a question! Have you checked out their new Gobi Boots? What are your thoughts on them? I've been eyeing a pair but I'm debating on whether they're necessary with the universal usage that the original Gobi's already bring to the table Edit: also shout-out Aesop Rock, I see your copy of Labor Days on display!
Thank you for the nice comment! And yes to Aesop. I'm SOOOO excited for his new album to come out. Gettin' that one on vinyl too. I haven't tried the new Gobi boots. If you see my response, please reply with a link to it. I'd be very curious which ones you're referring to. Now that I'm in Wisconsin, I am going to try and find the best VIVOBAREFOOT boot for cold weather. So maybe those would be good? Thanks again! ~Mason
Interesting, I hadn't really noticed a difference in the size. But everyone is different, I s'pose. I wear a size 12 in most shoes, including these boots and they fit just right. Thanks for the comment! Glad to hear you like 'em ~Mason
Weird Question, what hat is that? I think it looks rad and wanted to see where i could get one. Also great review. I have a pair of the vivobarefoot Primus Lite III and I am looking for something that will keep my feet a bit better in the winter. With some wool socks will the Gobi 3s keep your feet decently warm into winter temps?
Not a weird question at all! It's by a company called Flipside Hats. They're based in Portland, OR. I actually bought it at a really cool gas station in Eugene, OR called Sequental. That said! I found the exact hat for you: www.flipsidehats.com/collections/mens-hats/products/collection-pnw-wool-five-panel-camp-cap?variant=41946616823958 It was more like $30 when I bought it though. Price looks like it went WAY up. Anyway, hope that's helpful. As for wearing wool socks and the boots. I think you'd be warm in them. But that depends on snow. I don't think they'd do too well tromping around in the snow. That said, I am about to do a review on their Tracker boot, which is made just for that. Stay tuned! Holler if you have any other questions. ~Mason
Totally! I've actually brought it up to him before. I would LOVE to do that in the future. Probably won't happen anytime soon, but it's definitely on my "video ideas" list. Thank you for the idea as well, Arboreal Fungi! And appreciate you watching the video. Hope you enjoyed it 🙂 ~Mason
Hi Sensei, I wouldn't say that they're waterproof. They can withstand some water, but wouldn't recommend getting them wet all the time. I actually just ordered their "Tracker Winter SG" which claims to be waterproof. I'll be doing a video review on these in the next month or so and will report back! Lemme know if you have any other questions ~Mason
I do wear them pretty much year round, but I may recommend checking out their other shoes for warmer weather. I don't think you'll be overheating in them, but they certainly do have some "lighter" options available. Hope that helps? ~Mason
Haven't had a Primus pair in a while! I miss 'em. I'll probably get some next spring. Just ordered some TRACKERS for this winter though. Stoked. Thanks for watching! ~Mason
@@MECAUT7 Good question, I suppose that's possible. Every pair that I have bought has been a size 12 (or 45 European, I think), and has fit exactly the same. I've had quite a few of their different shoes, too. But yeah, not sure of their return policy, but I always get the same size and have been pleased ~Mason
Here’s what gets me about all these barefoot shoes: they’re charging more money for less shoe. I get that they’re shaped to naturally fit a foot, but I feel like all the things they ~aren’t~ putting on the underside of the shoe should be saving money, not driving the price up
My take on it: The things that >are< there are better quality, so the shoes last much longer - also, as I don't healstrike anymore. Beside that do they good to my health, what is priceless.
Thank you! I'm going to go with "no" on the waterproof front. Maybe a little bit. But I have been caught in the rain with them, and later wished I had a different pair on. I will be trying their "Tracker Winter Boot" here soon. We're goin' to make a video about those too. I think they may be somewhat waterproof. So glad you enjoyed the video! We had a blast creating it. ~Mason

Hi great video , I am planning to buy them hope they last me into scottish winter. May I know the colour of the shoe , is it Bracken ? It actually looks like a black shoe on their website. @HerbRally
Yep! Mine are the bracken, that's the only color I've ever bought. Glad you enjoyed the video! I'll be curious how they hold up in your Scottish winter. We moved to Wisconsin (US) and they have pretty gnarly winters, so I'll likely go with another boot. Holler if you have other questions! ~Mason

I purchased a black pair in 13, yet they feel about a size to half size larger even though I wear 13 in Merrell Vapor Gloves. Otherwise, I like them.
