Great times, English football in the golden days ,...now it's a money obsessed machine, lacking real gritty atmosphere , and passion......miss those days
Hahaha!! This slightly before my time. But I can remember from the mid 70s onwards. So many teams in Yorkshire and although Yorkshire TV showed them, they rarely ever made a fuss about them; both ITV and the BBC had, and still have, studios in Leeds and as such there is media bias there that exists, even unto this day.
@@bilbobaginz1601 In 70-71, Huddersfield Town were on Yorkshire every Sunday or so it seemed. So boring! Nearly put me off football for life - even with Frank Worthington and Trevor Cherry.
The old Gelderd Rd terrace used to be right behind the goal .it was knocked down in the mid/late sixties and replaced with a new cantilever stand which you see here.at the north end. The opposite end ,called the scratting or scratching shed used to back right up onto Elland Rd itself so the only way to expand the stadium was to shunt the pitch up about 25/30 yards or so to make space for the new South Stand which was built round about 73/74 or thereabouts . what you see here is the interim period.
Sunday afternoon on Yorkshire television. Great memories!
Great team, great to see players with normal haircuts and NO horrible tattoos!
its great seeing these clips 50 yrs after id sat listening to them on the radio in my leeds kit

I love that pitch, you had to be a proper player in those days not like to today and their bowling green quality pitches and no knee slides either
When looking about 40 and being 5 foot 8 didn't stop you being a top league keeper.
Colin Boulton and Cooper the Ipswich goalkeeper were midgets !
Ppl say..."dirty leeds"...come on!!! They played football very good!!!...passing game before 80s Liverpool. ..
yeah , but that Wednesday team that season were absolute useless
leeds propr good side who liverpool took a lot from to dominate mid 70s onwards

One Yorkshire team on the verge of unimaginable greatness - another hitherto superior Yorkshire side about to plunge into unrelenting mediocrity.
Look at the space between the pitch and the crowd behind the goal. ..when was it changed?
It was knocked down at the end of 1973/74 season

@@scabbydoggydoo3460 Interesting to see Leeds fans in the Scratching Shed. Things would change very soon.
What a fine head of hair Gary Sprake had then!
His hair got in the way of him saving shots !
mr hill brown envelope from sheff weds
Warboys that classic battering ram of a forward.
" Giles going off the field for attention..so Leeds temporarily have 12 men "
WHAT???
A tongue of the slip.
Peter H that's why they had all that success. 13 players … when Giles wasn't injured
could be that commentator Keith Macklin also used to do rugby league games, which was 13 per side.
Very early colour
Giles went off for treatment and the commentator said 'Leeds temporarily have 12 men.' I always thought they were a team of cheats.
No you didn't.
