- Опубліковано 28 гру 2023
- This miniature marvel is a deceptively adorable predator with a ferocious hunting skillset. Barely bigger than a house cat, the 𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗖𝗔𝗧 stalks and takes down venomous desert vipers with lightning speed and unmatched agility. Surviving in the unforgiving dunes with its incredible camouflage to its bone-chilling nocturnal prowls, this pint-sized grim reaper reigns supreme in the harsh embrace of the desert.

I can vouch for the 'semi-retractable claws'. In 1980, I moved to Saudi Arabia to work as an expat in the Oil industry at ARAMCO. We lived in a trailer park in the desert for a few months before we were assigned a proper house inside the expat settlement at Dhahran.
Anyway, one night we heard a cat under the trailer, and discovered a tiny kitten in a piece of discarded plastic sewerage pipe. It apparently was abandoned by a less than perfect mother. We eventually took it in, fed it, and it purred loudly and snuggled up to us. Left it in a bedding box for the night. We also gave it a sandbox, which it used without training. AT bedtime, It howled miserably until we moved it into the bedroom, where it crawled up into the bed, purring loudly. We kept the playful kitten for a few weeks, but eventually gave it away to another couple & their son, as it played roughly and never could retract its claws. And our arms were always badly scratched, tho the cat continued purring and snuggling and was never really angry, and never scratched out of fear. They eventually moved to another ARAMCO site in Ras Tanura, and we lost track of them.
We discovered much later that it was actually a Sand Cat, and NOT a domestic cat.
That WAS AMAZING!!!
Thanks for sharing this. Watching. The video, I was wondering how they might behave as pets.
I think it is hard for cats to be gentle, because their skin is so much stronger than ours.
A lot of bites and scratches are actually signs of affection that are not at all painful, if you have tough cat skin, so it takes a lot of discipline for a cat to learn not to bite or scratch too hard. I think domestic cats are probably very intelligent, which is how they figure out to be gentle enough, assuming they receive training from a good human.
With that sand cat, you probably would just need to live with the scratches, since it will probably never understand that humans have weak, fragile skin compared to cats.
Sounds like a dream to cuddle with a Sand Cat. OMG!!!
I bet you knew my sister. She and her husband were there then, too.
These cats are living in a gigantic litter box.
🤣🤣🤣
Sand Cat: adorable on a megaton cuteness level, eats lethal vipers for breakfast. Then there's the manul. Nature is out to get us.
💕💕💕
I've seen a few.. in the sand of Saudi arabia....by far the most beautiful and the cutest cat you'll EVER seen ....they were friendly...its good to keep them near you in the desert...they kill everything that moves..they are not the normal cats
Cats never fail to amaze me. My cat dispatched a murder hornet with one swipe of his claws, and then came to me for cuddles.
Lion-hearted cat
Cats take care of their owners by eliminating inconvenient creatures: mice, rats, birds... hornets.
@@InconspicuousChap annoying neighbors & relatives...
I had to look up murder hornet. That’s a big nope for me. Where do u live? I’d have to move! Or buy 100 cats
Yep. So agree. I always enjoy watching videos of snake/cat encounters. Usually the snake never has a chance.
They're adorable! Look at those big fox like ears!
Hear insects half kilometers away
cat no matter where or what they are the cutest animal ever. LOVE CAT FOREVER !
Protect the sand cats.
WOW! This Cat is the "FREMEN" of his desert world! Doesn't drink, nocturnal, leaves no tracks! AWESOME! Nature never ceases to amaze me!

@@HiGlowie it's a Dune reference
It's remarkable how similar the look to domestic cats. If I didn't know better, I could easily believe they were just a breed of pedigree domestic cat that I hadn't seen before.
No coincidence. Domestic cats actually came from the African desert.
its still felis genus cat, all cats species within felis genus looks very similar.
@@doublewhopper67 Lol, seriously. Blows my mind that people are all shocked by a cat looking like a cat. Wild dogs look like dogs. Wild cats look like cats. It only looks domestic because it's small.
Cats are the only truly magical creature left in the world. And dolphins. And elephants. My longhaired dachshund is a genius so he's pretty special, too. But there's something about cats... My son was glad Molly cat wasn't any bigger. She tucked him in every night and was very strict about his bedtime. He had visions of a giant Molly picking him up by the scruff of his neck and carrying him off to bed herself. She kept him cozy every night. She had chosen him as her special human. Murphy, her brother, loved everybody. And they were treasured in return. The fun we had with those two goofy cats in the house!
this is the most beautiful and intelligent animal. it survives the extremes and kills vipers. WOE!
Sand cats, rusty spotted cats and pallas cats are just the cutest. Southern asia and arabain regions are so lucky to have them
you forgot this little guy :)

Those cats have one hell of a litter box.
Indeed
I’ve been watching nature programs since I was a young girl and I have never seen this beautiful feline before. Thanks for sharing this remarkable wild cat.

Most beautiful cat in my eyes
They definitely are good looking cats.
The closest cat to a forever kitten!
My brother had a Tom cat. He, and his family had been out. When they came home. They're were two dead side winders, in the living room. The cats claws are perfect, for catching the snake behind the head... Good thing, he had young kids back then.
Cats are truly amazing creatures. I absolutely ❤ all of them.
I had no idea these existed. Incredible
I was raised with/by cats. I love them so much - - there are no words.
and very self involved
Awwwww! Look how cute it murders.
Haha, who knew murder could be so adorable? Glad you enjoyed it!
LOL Yea, that's true of all the other cat species too. They're all beautiful, but all deadly.
Cats are indeed a furry paradox.
People either adore them or hate them for that reason.

These cats are the real rulers of the desert. They need to be protected from hunting. Thank you for the video.

"They become easy targets for sport hunting."
I thought "sport hunting" was supposed to be a challenge. . Otherwise, it's called shooting fish in a barrel.
If humans want to hunt, sport hunt, then let's get our evil greedy corrupt and psychopathic governments on the menu!
I think it's the U.S. military who does this. They are disgusting. And aren't these animals there becoming extinct?
Sport hunting is about collecting trophies or checking off boxes on a list

What a gorgeous looking cat that was ❤
I think so too!
Cats are amazing! I live in an area surrounded by tall grass and sugarcane fields. It's not uncommon to find dead snakes in the morning, either in front of my door or just outside our gate, likely attempting to enter. I rescue stray cats, and they sleep all over the house. I also have tiny puppies, and my cats protect them from these snakes.
There was also a memorable incident during a power outage when it was very dark. I had only one flashlight, and a bat flew inside. One of my cats instantly killed the bat with a single strike of its paw.
Cats are indeed Amazing!
I did an adoption (support it financially for a year)a Sand cat at London zoo, when they were doing support a wildlife.

That’s funny I remember this is my all-time favorite animal when I was a kid they used to have those wildlife cards. I forget the name of them but it was like a monthly subscription and new cards would come every week or month and this was my favorite.
Wow! I’d forgotten about those cards! I had the same thing!

the kittens are so cute. They are even cuter than domestic kittens.
Sport hunters are pure evil.
So are avocado eaters
They occasionally come across the fennec fox but they get along.
I was wondering the same thing 😃 I really want to see them together
They're Beautiful ❤️
Sand cats have several physical adaptations that help them survive in arid environments, including large, furry paws that protect their feet from hot sand and a dense coat that insulates them from temperature extremes,Animals in frigid regions also need a substantial amount of fur on their legs to stay warm, nature is truly fascinating.
All Cats Are Adorable.🤗🤗🤗🤗💖💖💖💖

Thanks for the excellent video.
Wow! Another species I have never heard of! These are similar to the Scottish wild cat in that they are small as house cats but unique to specific places.
These cats need protection. That is a small amount population of these cats. And if hunting them for the sheer desire to kill something, anything without some protection, it can take less than two years to become endangered. But these are not the only species of small cats that are treated like pests. There is a tiny one of the Amazon (can't remember what they're called) are becoming fewer in number. So much focus on bigger species that the smaller ones, just as important, get overlooked & little to no funding for study.
Sooo cute!
Fantastic video. Your channel has such interesting animals
Thanks for the visit
Awwwwwww soooooo Cute 🫠
Awesome creatures. That dark eye line makes me wonder if they are distant relatives of cheetahs, or just random evolution.
Given both are cats, that's very likely.
Superb Video.
Cats have faster reactions than a snakes strike.
There are videos aplenty of ordinary domestic cats with snakes. Maybe we don’t get to see the ones where the snake wins, but in the usual videos the cats are eerily fast compared with the snakes.
Sometimes. I’ve seen cat get caught by a python and eaten
Lol. Sand Cat rascals!
I remember seeing a display of them at Brookfield Zoo. They do look cute.

My dog found this video objectionable yet riveting.
Such cutie pies
Looks cute when hunting
How are so cute ??? No matter how ferocious they are
fantastic beast.
Sure is!
My cat has similar traits to the sand cat. Short legs and tail, large ears, walks in a crouch.
My understanding is that predators don't follow footprints, though they may appear to, while following scent.
What a neat looking feline specimen

This plays like a parody video because of how closely they resemble domestic house cats.
What's New Pussycat - Tom Jones 1960's song. The cat's name is Sandy.
Thanks for the Heart. Here's a true funny story a couple months ago I was in WalMart and a couple were approaching me and the young adult lady had a full size pussy cat costume on. So I sang out loud to them. "What's new pussycat. Woah, woah, woah. That a Tom Jones song from the 1960's." The husband said with excitement. "That's a great song." And we all laughed because I had the best line in that moment. I loved this sand cat video such an incredible animal that evolution perfected almost beyond belief. It's even better that the great Tom Jones song. Mother Nature is so amazing. I love her endlessly when I go for nature walks. The appreciation I put out attracts good things to me as per The Law of Attraction.

You said these cats are the sole desert inhabitants OWTTE. If that was the case then they'd be cannibals.

Was es nicht alles gibt!
Cats normally obtain they’re water from their food. So if they eat they get hydration. These cats prob amazing at pulling fluid from food.
dude there is endless footage of wild cats drinking water like crazy, and domestic cats can drink a bowl a day
@@jdssurf
I enjoyed the video. But definitely take some of the claims with a grain of salt. Evidently it is the sole inhabitant of the desert, never leaves a mark and doesn't ever drink water, except when it milks a camel.
I don't know if the person who created it isn't a native English speaker or not, but some of the language could be adjusted to be more accurate.
It's good overall, but needs some work.
@null6634 lmao....well to be fair, he said it drinks camel milk, not milks the camel itself lololol i thknk lol
@@jdssurf
Haha. I was exaggerating a bit for fun. But it sounds like a local legend rather than proven fact. The claim needs support.
... their* water (they're = they are)
I can guarantee that in the 1850's French soldiers would have never used anything but a metric system to measure temperature.
If there's a soul inhabitr of the desert and how do they survive 2:49
I HATE trophy hunters. Sickening
Me too. Kill for fun is disgusting
Really, over time they adapted and evolved to not drink any water? Wow I wonder how many died before they were able to adapt/evolve. You just can’t accept it can you that it’s highly likely they were created this way, perfect in their environment by design.
All animals are amazing in their own ways but the felidae really are a breed apart as far as terrestrial predators go. It would be difficult to design a better one.
☑️✔️✅👍
Evolution is awesome
