Gold Mining: First Blast, First Gold! Season 2, Episode 2
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- In this exciting episode of Season 2, the mining crew gets straight to business! Jason and Harry of @mineoperator kick things off with their first drilling and blasting operation on the gold vein. Their main objective? Start drifting along the vein to intersect with a raise that will streamline their logistics, cutting down the movement of ore and supplies by over half.
They introduce the technique of split shooting: blasting the gold-rich vein first to collect the ore, followed by a separate blast for the waste rock, which can be moved out of the way without diluting the valuable material. The result? To their surprise, the gold vein starts widening after the first blast, and they catch their first glimpse of gold in the face for this season.
Be sure to check out our eBay listings if you're interested in owning a piece of real gold ore or some beautifully cut slabs from their gold mine!

Hi Jason,
I just wanted to say thank you for selling some of your load rocks. I bought 60 lbs and i am very pleased. You are the only Prospector that makes it possible for us "Want-to-be" prospectors to play with rocks from a real gold mine. Also, I am so proud of you for living your dream! Life is short. Please keep the videos coming and keep up the good work. I hope you to continue to offer your mine rocks for sale. My son and I crush and sluice the rocks. Just getting into smelting.
I bought some as well. I just cleaned and sorted my bags and found gold in what I just washed off the ore! I need to prep my ore and I have a crusher to run it. So much fun to play with. I’m in Ohio so I don’t have any local option to get hard rock ore to play with.
thanks for ensuring we will never know the true yield of jasons mine per ton.
@@ericm8811 No miner ever really knows. Mother Nature deposited it as fit. All I know is the gold that washed off the muck is still his gold per ton and it is super fine and free gold. Not even knowing the sulphide gold content yet, it is a fine hard rock mine.
@@ericm8811 Well aren't you a cheery person. Maybe get mad at Jason, too, since he's selling them off to spite you.
@@ericm8811 Grow a brain mate...
HECK YEAH!!! BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!!!👍👍👍
Oh yeah me too
Heck yeah
👍👍👍
Lol
Yep
Good to see you guys back again. I used to work in a gold mine when I was younger. What they use to do is hang old conveyobelts from Hangwall with steel cables and roof bolts. That ways it limits the blast rock to travel into unwanareas. Easy to gather newly blasted rock. Then as they go forward the move the curtain with forward moving face. Can't wait to see what gold you get from this new season
Great idea 💡👍
Jason: As everyone knows, there are tons and tons of videos on UA-cam, but yours are the only ones I know of wherein the contributor shares his life's dream/work with the audience. To watch you and your commitment to your craft -- and it IS a craft! -- is uplifting in ways I could never adequately explain. Suffice it to say that I'm a retired military officer who suffers from severe PTSD, and your videos do more for me than all the pills, group therapy and psychoanalysis put together. Thank you for sharing your amazing story with us, and please keep the videos coming!
Don, thanks for that. I didn't realize , but now that you bring it up, that this kind of work and camaraderie is what really helps as therapy for us with these conditions. I want to pack a bag and head out just to muck day after day. These kinds of projects always appealed to me as well, therapeutic.
3:24 Mentioned this before, figure out a way to vacuum the floor after mucking out, you will be flabbergasted as to how much Au you will recover.
true words
I was thinking blast a settling pit in the floor of the entrance, when it’s nearing the top with solids, clean it out, crush it and refine it. That way you just wash everything toward the entrance and it collects before being washed outside.
Put a ground sluice in the pee ditch 😂
Dredge it's called
think that's what they're done
This is one of my favorite channels ever. I learn something every time.
Jaw dropping.
Look at that quartz vein. WOW
If you want to see some huge quartz, watch the 16 to 1 mine video series by TVR exploring. They get to check out the ballroom, an entire huge room/cavern of quartz where the miners used to have parties and dances.
I worked for a few yrs in a South African gold mine - 8400ft below surface in 4ft wide stopes - and I never once saw native gold. Good to see it exists!
1st and Big Thumbs Up for the First💪 Blast of the Mine.
congrats to Jason and his Crew !💥
"The Next morning, it's all aired out" Ah, that's first time I heard. That's made a good sense as movies showed miners walk in mine right after they blew inside up. LOL!
So much fun watching you have so much fun Jason. Another great video.
Wow that is so awesome! Can't wait to watch what is coming. Stay safe down there in the mine. Much love and blessings.
Looks awesome! Glad to see it back up and running.
There is no money in it for Gold Miners but if you buy his rocks these gentleman pay the bills.
The hell they do
@@silverdawn2767from what I've seen, it's hard to make small scale hard rock mining pay. TVR exploring just wound up a series of refurbing a bigger mine than this, but it didn't pay out. It takes a lot of gold to pay for all the equipment purchase/hiring, labour, hardware etc.
Awesome. Wandering how things were going
This is my favorite series on youtube right now. I've never wanted to shovel rocks into a bucket so badly on my life
I'd like to see you take some of the face washings and pan it out to see what is there. Loved the video Jason! Hope you hit the mother load !
Awesome.. Welcome back...now tuning in my notification bell was off😢😊❤❤
Awesome. Was wondering how things were going
As someone who has worked at the deepest mine in the world and is still employed at one of the deepest i really appreciate these vids. Very cool.
Hi Harry and Jason!!! Ready for another amazing season!! Praying for Your safety and for a very prosperous load! God Bless Y'all 😎🤟🙏
Jason, you guys are producing some of the best content on the internet. I really appreciate your excellent content. I know it's super hard to give the time to make such good video content and still have the time to put into the long hard labor of mining. Keep it up, we are with you.
I could smell this video... Spent many days up in the Lone Jack Mine picking at ore that looked like yours! Generally speaking, if we could see free gold the ore ran 3 to 4+ oz./ton. Your ore looks to be higher grade than what we were chasing. nice to see there's still a few big veins with gold up in the Cascades!
1/4- works better than clay. Working room always important and less strain on the backs.
I remember in Peru in the tunnels, they’d load a 30 or 40 hole shot then pump mud in behind it. They were using AnFo and Gelignite, shit used to tear the rock up. I was about 11-12 at the time, Saturday morning my dad would take me into the mine and I’d help the powder monkeys run line and set caps in the gel. I used to have a blast, no pun intended. Remember doing what you are doing with an old DuPont blasters multimeter. I’ll never forget one of the lead blasters beating into me the importance of checking your lines and zeroing your null. Didn’t want any unfortunate things happening he’d say. We’d get done about 11 AM and I’d get to push the button, always a thrill for a kid.
In big commercial operations they use a lot of ANFO etc. due to cost, and the liquid stuff is pretty safe to handle.
That is some Glorious stuff, Love Gold. 👀💯
Wow Jason and Harry, great job men. Tough, but rewarding. Such a big vein of gold. Thanks for showing us.
Just amazing work fam. Great job all around. Keep on having fun getting that Au and living the dream. Gold Squad Out 🤠
Epic job! Bringing resources from the inside a mountain to the market, this is how an economy is created. Well done guys. Hard working men just getting it done without complaining. Let's Go!
My favorite series on UA-cam.
I’m so glad you’re on the gold. I hope that it goes on for a long way. Thanks for taking us along.
You're right Jason. I was with John Norman from ACCX Research when he performed a test to whether a cap would set off anfo and it did not. It needed at least a half a stick of Dynamite, stinger, or detcord worked as well.
it will sometimes set it off.
@demolitiondavedrillandblast Interesting. You would know, you have more experience than I do with anfo. Does anfo degrade over time, making it more susceptible? Even though I witnessed that test, there are always variables.
You should try using wheels from a chain link fence gate on your cart they are made for rolling on a 2” or so pipe probably roll a lot easier
Hey Jason, I found your channel through Dan Hurd's channel, and I gotta tell you, I am absolutely loving your videos. This is so cool to me...and it's completely different than the mining I do here in Arkansas. My grandfather was a coal miner in Kentucky and was down underground for much of that, and seeing your videos makes me wonder what all he went through and how much he did by hand hundreds of feet below surface. I love seeing the process! Thanks!!
awesome. was wondering how things were going
Great Stuff Jason & Harry! I listen with good headphones and can hear the water running elswhere in the mine, it's very reminiscant of workings & caves I've been in and really adds to the immersion.
I couldn’t work bent over like that. My back is already bad, I’d be hurting bad. Much respect to you guys and the hard work you do. Takes a special breed to do that work.
My grandson and I just got back from some afternoon sluicing at Olney Creek just out of Sultan. You probably have more gold in just one of those 5lb chucks than we got after Dream Mat sluicing 7 buckets of stream gravel. Good on you.
Another way to plug those blasting holes might be to slap some quick drying cement in them. I don't know if it might make the blasts a little too powerful though
I've been waiting ❤❤ been checking my feed and BAM, THERE YOU ARE!! LETS GOO!!🎉❤
Didnt think my sunday could get any better! Just got home from Cripple Creek, CO exploring the Mollie Kathleen mine 1000’ under ground and doing the RR tour, and now i get to watch Jason make more progress on his mine!
I'm glad to see your latest progress! Is this the ideal situation in which you drift through ore to get to a raise that makes it much easier to remove ore? I hope so. If anyone ever says that your ore and specimens are too expensive, make sure they have seen your videos!!
Another Awesome Video Jason! I was the 9th viewer this time...Ole Harry is a Blessing!! You guys really ROCK....
Oh boy! Another year with Jason and Harry. LFG!
Very excited to see this season's work!
It’s fun watching the hard work of your team paying off.
Hell yeah. Awesome work guys. Congratulations on the Awesome Gold.
هذا رائع ياشباب نتمنى لكم مزيد من النجاح تحيه لكم من اليمن السعيد
Im so happy i no you have alot more to come i pray this summer was good to you. KEEP THE FAITH
YAAAAYYYY!!!
SEAON 2 HAS BEGUN!!!
EXCELLENT!!!
You love to see it! I'm about to head up to our mine to finish mucking out a development round and prep it for drilling; we're going to put one more round into that heading as a remuck/turnaround and then start drifting on vein.
I look forward to your videos every weekend probably more so than any other. 👍
Keep up the great work!
One dirty big dog tooth hanging out above the rail
I would hit my head every time 😂😂we hav been waiting for this for ages just loving it ❤can’t wait to see this going across the table 😊
So excited for this season! Go Jason and team!
Puts my sierra blaster to shame . Awesome blasting tutorial you guys rule
Jaw dropping. Look at that quartz vein
Excellent video Jason y'all have a great season if you can keep us updated thank you for sharing this with us six stars my friends
Glad the new season is here.😊
Thanks Jason!
Very excited to see yalls progression in yalls mine !
Great video. I have never, and will never, worked a mine but I really enjoy watching!
Hi Jason, Absolutely awesome!! Congrat's on the new mining season! Once you break thru to your short-cut, you might think about loading out some of your muck! Run it thru your equipment when the mine is shut down. The tubes of gravel is a wonderful idea! The stingers worked great! I used to use a 1/2 stick of 60% to shoot the prell. Fantastic video! Thumbs up! Stay safe! Jim
I'm glad to see you are back to blasting in the gold mine. Should be interesting to see what you get out of it.
You are absolutely living my best dream of a life!
I doubt I can ever get over to see the mine but would love to one day.
I've been waiting for season 2 And I am so excited to see what happens really love your videos Thank you for making them
Brilliant use of truncated traffic cone!! Love it!
Nice AU Jason, ... Howdy Harry, ... off to a great season.... Best wishes, stay safe !!! ⛏⚒⛏
Puts my Sierra blaster to shame.awesome blasting tutorial you guys rule.
would have loved to watch the whole thing, an hour or two would be easy watch. But great job! hoping to get a bag at some point soonish.
Heck of a vein to work on this year. Nice and rich looking. 👍
Looks like a classic saddle reef gold system, richest gold was in the pinch between rolls in the vein, always be looking for a super rich cross cutter.
Hey Jason, could you share how you got started in the mining industry? Always interested in seeing how people get into their career! Thanks for all the great videos!
Woohoo, glad you are alive! Those were a long few weeks!
you might get a good market for the quarts aswell from your mine with the halting of production of the ultra pure quarts sand mine in spruce pine in north Coraline if you can refine it enough , might be a strech but it could be worth a look into , the hurricane caused them issues but i didnt say anything ; )
I have been mining orebodies like yours for 25 years and it’s quite common to get good ore on your hanging wall and foot wall contacts. If you have any quartz on the backs or floor you might be split firing some good ore into your waste.
You shouldn’t need stemming. Won’t hurt but not critical.
Get a stinger firing box with a built in circuit tester. Battery firing is unreliable.
Mark your charge hose with a ring of electrical tape a foot from the end so when you pull it out you are not surprised by the end of the hose although you can usually recognise how close the end is just by the sound.
Thanks for the update: take a sample to the mill; looking forward to a smelt!!
Lol a 9volt battery to set of the explosives. It just doesn't have the same theatrical effect that a plunger has
I saw a home made blasting machine made out of an old " Kermit The Frog " lunch box .
It had a magneto attached to Kermit's " hand " and you hooked up the leads and gave it a whirl .
One of the funniest damned things I have ever seen .
Have you priced a plunger type blasting machine? Even a twist type is ridiculously expensive. I would get a handy blaster 10 cap . Or just keep po boyn it .
I use a 12 motorcycle battery. Works well.
@@dawnac6453 I use nonel tied into detcord, initiated by a cap and safety fuse. Electric caps are spooky.
Same way we launch model rockets...
To think in my 49 years in Wa. I've been using the cascades, and Mt Baker for, Snowmobiling, and Dirtbikes. Not sure I need another expensive hobby, but damn it, now ya got me curious!😂
It’s fun watching the hard work
Yessss! Thanks Jason!
You boys on the gold!!! I can't wait to see some of the clean up's
Excited to see what comes in the next few months!
Definitely looking forward to more videos of this.
great to see this progress, young men!...go on!
Jason, I would be interested in seeing a colab video with the highspeed boys if its possible. Seeing a shot and its effects would be tough to protect the lighting, but the actual footage would be both educational and exciting to see! Love all your and Mo's videos, and wishing you the best! Peace.
Its about TIME!!!!❤
^5! Nice work Jason & Harry! ⚒
Loving it. Great to see how to do this stuff.
That's exciting when you can see the gold in the face.
I’ve got my self a small piece of quartz with a tiny tiny piece of gold in it. Found it up a hill in Scotland
Loving watching this, great video thanks! Keep up the good work guys.
I'm loving your mining video's Jason!
Good work fellas 🎉
Chit dreams is made of!
So glad your intuition "panned out" 🎉
....er, "everythings coming up Milhouse" 😁
Best show on UA-cam!
Heck of a vein to work on this year . Nice
Hard work pays off . So nice. Blessings
very cool guys! thanks!
Again, another fantastic show 🎉
This video was a blast to watch ! ! ! ✌
