    Has a 2019 fit, after the 4th mail said the parts should be in local dealer. Called and they said they don't. Don't know when they will get enough parts for this recall

      For us we have been doing all the cars that have been sitting on our lot for one that can't be sold. And are now doing customers that have the accords.

    I just watched another video from a different UA-camr who works at a Honda dealership and was replacing a fuel pump in an Odyssey

      The fuel pump recall extends to many models of Hondas. Civic, CRV, pilot, fit etc. I think we will be doing fuel pumps for a very long time.

      @theoffroadingmechanic yeah he said the same thing. It was a recall he was doing.

      I changed one on a 2024 HRV for intermittent stalling. Doesn't have a recall but techline wanted to replace the whole module and not just the pump.

      @theoffroadingmechanic damn and it's a brand new car. That's horrible. I guess whoever supplies Honda the fuel pumps well be closing up soon. Recalls are no joke for supply companies.

      Not as bad as recently had a CRV with only 220kms we had to put a PCM in it because it kept getting lost communication with battery sensor and shutter grill that's is fixed and that customer got their car back. And last week we had a hybrid not even 100kms and the DC to DC converter wasn't charging the 12v battery. We put in a new 10grand power control unit into it and it fixed the issue but the new one leaks coolant at the coolant press on fitting so now we are stuck waiting good thing it's a PDI.

    By any chance do you know how to test hybrid battery. One way is to test individual cell battery voltage and ensure the cell are balanced within each other so one is not higher than others etc. do you have any video on hybrid battery test or tips. I am buying used hybrid need to ensure that hybrid battery is not that bad

    • @theoffroadingmechanic
      @theoffroadingmechanic  15 днів тому

      The new hybrids there is a function to check state of health and live data to show individual cells/module voltage not the same as state of charge. With hybrids and ev there is an allowable voltage or state of health variation between cell as the mileage accumulates, charged, fast charged etc and is calculated as degradation. The old hybrids like the ima system won't have that kind of data I believe it sets a code and once the battery is dead.

    Had my fuel pump replaced under warranty by Honda and now noticing gas smell in the garage and longer crank times when starting. Do you have any idea what the issue could be?

    • @theoffroadingmechanic
      @theoffroadingmechanic  2 дні тому

      For your long crank they could have forgotten to remove the old o-ring from the pump and double o-ringed the new pump and it's bleeding off pressure. Or quite possibly they cracked the nipple at the top of the fuel pump that connects the fuel line and also bleed pressure off for your long crank and your gas smell. If you have had the smell for a while now maybe have it checked. But if it is recently It could be just the spillage left behind from disconnecting the line and fuel dripping from removing the pump onto the back seat that stuff will linger for a while.

      @theoffroadingmechanic thank you for the help! I'm taking the car back to Honda, but what makes me frustrated/concerned is they said I'll have to pay if they don't find anything wrong with their work.

      Yea NP if it started happening right after they did the recall then it may have been something that was done. It has happened even for our guys doing it the first time to have forgot to remove the old o-ring but everyone makes mistakes just own up to it.

    Plastic with so many clips & o-rings. Guaranteed failure when car is 15 years old by tech without special tools or experience with exact job.
