I've seen an all-Chinese band from Beijing called 'The Timely Band' do this song in 1988-89 and did very well and very animated with strong rhythm section including drums worthy of a country dance hall.
BETSY is so sweet in her humble personality when performing, but not to confuse her singing that is actually very nice because of her melodic voice that comes with a gentle mellow tremolo that can easily be accepted to anyone's hearing... BETSY, don't stop your singing for you bring pleasure to people...
How 'bout that? Blue grass music from China. That was a beautiful performance by the singer and blue grass band. Singer has a nice calm soft voice. You all make Hank Williams proud. Thank you very much for sharing.
Well that was fun. I really enjoyed their version of this Hank Williams classic. I didn't know what an erhu is until now, but I liked its sound and the talent it takes to play this instrument. Everything was just great. Double-thumbs up to this group.
I loved it but wish I could have seen some smiles knowing they were enjoying making the music as much as I was enjoying listening to it. Did love the erhu too! Added a really nice touch.
@@ericshi2472 Too solemn, a little smile from time to time, feel the music, feel what you sing and it will be perfect, good job, sorry for my constructive criticism.
Completely blown away. I grew up on Bluegrass and old school country. You folks are terrific. Wonderful blending of traditional bluegrass instruments with ethnic instruments. Loved every note and lyric!!
Nicely done, guys. I loved the banjo breaks blending in some melodic picking. I also enjoyed the erhu being used in place of a traditional fiddle. Creative and excellent!
It's propaganda. Just look at their faces. China trying to show they are better than us at our own culture. Too bad they totally missed the point of bluegrass being raw an unhinged. Respect to the lady on the Uhru thing tho.
im 80 years old been listening to country r/roll sinatra this group is just fab.great lead voice the sounds that fiddle player got were magical.will watch out for more.
I grew up on country and blue grass music, and I love this. It's great when different cultures adopt other cultures music and customs. I hope they do more videos.
Hank would be pleased to hear this band's cover of his classic! Well done! 👍 Eric certainly can dig a hole in his banjo and Jing Ding absolutely blows me away playing the fiddle part brilliantly on her erhu. 👍❤
Erhu as fiddle! I am so delighted by this video! I love traditional Chinese music and play bluegrass myself (banjo and guitar). This is the best of both worlds!
chinese ehru is usually for playing melodramatic melodies - one of the famous example is the Butterfly Lover Concerto - ehru's counterpart is the violin which the Butterfly Lover Concerto was originally written for ( see youtube - ua-cam.com/video/tu5XohUR3Pg/v-deo.html&start_radio=1 --------------- this video also shows the chinese counterpart of the trumpet as well )
Thank you @@kongchan437 for taking the time to share this link with me. I was only going to check out a few minutes of the performance, but I was hooked like a fish in the first few minutes. This was so amazing to me on many levels! The Chinese erhu must be one of the most expressive of instruments. Other than the Western instruments, bamboo flute, erhu and ghuzheng, I was not familiar with the other instruments including the horns. I must study more. These instruments are works of art themselves, like the hammered zithers and the ghuzheng. This erhu performance was astounding, truly jaw-dropping, and music lovers everywhere will delight in this! The virtuosity of this performer (I'm sure she's famous in China) is ... I'm sorry, I don't have words that are adequate to describe what I just saw and heard. The youth orchestra was a joy to watch and a pleasure to hear, all so accomplished and shining so brightly!
@@mweinberg55 there are other way to play the erhu also.... for different effect - such as one erhu performance on some horse racing theme in open desert plan - I could not find that link but found couple other similar erhu horse racing theme not as good as the one I seen couple years ago - for example see 1:13 / 1:41 mark of this violin-erhu ensemble ( ua-cam.com/video/Ag7NjQ8WtAU/v-deo.html ) or 4:18 of another erhu solo ( ua-cam.com/video/d3KrZQcS5vc/v-deo.html ) - enjoy
Yes she has a beautiful voice she doesn't over embellish the song I play bluegrass music I play guitar and I'm working on the mandolin and their band was very pleasant to listen to
I smiled all the way through that one. You guys are terrific! So we can find common ground on the music level. I think we are not so different after all.
That's how infectious American culture is. Here in the Cordilleras in northern Philippines, most of our people are lovers of American country music for decades now since the Americans established Camp John Hay in Baguio city.
Eric that’s some mighty fine banjo picking there.... as people say here in the south of the USA good job to all of y’all. Nice to see Chinese young people enjoying the music of the country people. Much love and keep playing. Good job all. That Chinese instrument like a fiddle/violin is very interesting.
A talented Chinese group playing Appalachian style music about life in south Louisiana. What a world we live in.
Only thing is they need to do some grinning along with that fine picking. I love this stuff.
Here again! 😊 They play great music!

I've seen an all-Chinese band from Beijing called 'The Timely Band' do this song in 1988-89 and did very well and very animated with strong rhythm section including drums worthy of a country dance hall.
They are actually Taiwanese. The musical instrument is Chinese.
Their speciality…create nothing...copy…copy...stunningly note perfect 'n' deadly dull...you also see it in their classical pianists/violinists
Hank Williams died at age 29 in 1952 and his influence is still going all over the world. You have to believe he would have loved this.

pretty singer, pretty voice, cool band...
The Erhu worked out great!!! Keep on with your Music-the sky's the limit!!!
Wow, and I loved that Erhu. Give them a few years to spread their music. Dynamite.
I’ve watched it once a day for a whole week!
Wow, I'm actually sitting and watching this whilst in China on a 2 month lecturing trip ....what a joy to see ! Music has no boundaries.
The Erhu should become a required bluegrass instrument from now on. Fantastic rendition!

Bravo!
Agreed!

She REALLY makes it sing in their version of "Amarillo by Morning." Worth a listen!
Who said that East could not meet West? Splendid rendition especially of the erhu. Never thought the erhu could fit into a western orchestra!
Outstanding performance of a great song. As a lifelong Hank Williams fan, I am blown away.
As someone who has lived a significant portion of my life in Louisiana, I wholeheartedly approve. Well done.
Music is truly multi cultural and multi national..
Thanks !🤝

Emmylou crossed my mind too as I listened. Silky smooth vocals
