The Dominican Republic is a beautiful paradise, I saw a photograph coffee table book on Amazon about this country full of beautiful photos and is gorgeous!
FYI El Paseo De Doña Blanca or The Pink Alley is because an Italian Couple in the early 1900s went on vacation and love the country so much they moved there and became hotel owners they own and invest in the area once she passed away Dona Blanca they donated everything to the country and they kept her legacy going. Next to that is Rio Soñador excellent River to go for a quick swim.
Thank you for this video. I was in Puerto Plata in 93. I was borderline psychotic but I remember parts of the trip. The trip up the mountain was a mystical experience for me. The people were really nice and the food was amazing. I hope the heart and soul is still there!
Another Beautiful Adventure in the DR Chris & Carol🙂👍So many Awesome things to see and Explore looking forward to more Adventures with You and Trevor & Anna in the DR have Fun🙂👍
Congratulations to you guys to arrives today’s in great joy & peace @ Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic in December of 2023❤❤❤Happy Holiday Seasons to you guys in peace 2023❤❤❤
coming from saint Augustine Florida in 2022 and love Sosua a town between PP and cabaret, great beach town for the guys and the older dudes with the ladies.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you both. I am going to put the DR on my list of places to visit. Too bad the weather did not cooperate. Carol looked stunning in that black dress. Thanks for the great video.
You missed trying the best ice cream place in puerto plata. It’s on your video, is on the square. I was there in April and was delighted by this artesanal ice cream.🍦
Hubby and i went to Puerto Plata about 20 years ago, a little kid wanted to shoe shine my hubby's trainers, he used pump whitener and covered over the 3 stripes lol it ended up costing £20. We laugh about it because we could see him with the money going in and out of shops in the square trying to get the money changed, we gave him the change as a tip and for being honest. There was a prison in the square at the time.
Regarding visiting the top of Isabel de Torres (the mountain), since you guys had a car it's real shame your hosts didn't drive up and instead took the ultra-touristy cable car. You can drive up from the east side of POP via El Cupey, or from the west side via San Marcos (the best scenery IMO). You go through little Dominican towns and neighborhoods on the way to the top..... super beautiful! For anyone planning to go to the top regardless of the method, it is generally less cloudy at the top in the mornings than after noontime. Since the "Amber Cove" (Maimon) and "Taino Bay" (POP) cruise ports (new names for these places, made up for tourism) started operation the part of downtown POP you were in is overrun with tourists now and other parts of the city offer a much more authentic experience. Not sure why they would have chosen to take you there. When you have a car you're not captive to the tourist traps like you are on a cruise ship excursion.
In Québec Canada we have a similar drink (fortified spiced wine) called Caribou. This drink is served warm and is very popular during the winter Carnaval.
There is also a very large Jesus Statue on the top of a mountain in Vungtau Vietnam that looks out at the ocean. It's large enough so that you can go inside and walk up stairs to the top of it. To get to the top of the mountain you have to walk up many stairs. I highly recommend seeing it if you are in Vungtau, in Southern Vietnam.

Thanks for the video hope the cable car will be operating in feb. 2025
you make me feel old when you think of 1970 as not being modern......guess i am
Puerto Plata looks a bit like New Orleans hahaha
Like cuba's cars
Those cars are not typical of the DR. They only added them as a tourist attraction since the cruiseships are there 😉
Hola. Si hablaras español sería mucho mejor.
Cruise ships ruin the scenery 🙁
Carol and Chris, do you know what I have been told about that drink? Womens drinks to get pregnant 😅😅 that's what they told us. Be careful 😅😅😅😅
Why you not plan a baby???😊
I beg your pardon? 😮 W T … 😅
What kinda question is that? 🤭🙈
The world already has enough babies
