- Young Adult author Veronica Roth, known for her award winning Divergent series will be releasing the third in the trilogy, Allegiant, later this year. Recently the author has been on tour discussing what fans can expect from her futuristic dystopia next. In this interview at the RT Booklovers Convention last week with RT's Elissa Petruzzi, Veronica discusses Tris and what makes her such a great role model and what it was like to be on the movie set watching actress Shailene Woodley bring this character to life.
I don't know why but I love her and her interviews...she never bores me.
I Literally went through all five stages of grief for tris
I thought it was a great ending! One of the main messages of the series was that people die, especially in war torn places. Tris' death was a great way to show that although, as expected of a main character's death, it was very heroic.
I think everyone who died from Dauntless showed an aspect of war through their death:
Tris: Selflessness. She died to protect what she believed in.
The girl who fell off the roof: Unpreparedness. Not everyone is ready mentally or physically.
Will: Self preservation. Willing to do anything to survive.
Uriah: Unexpectedness. He died just being in the wrong place.
Marlene: Cruelty. She was an example of how far it an enemy is willing to go.
Tori: Ambush. Not everything can be expected in war.
Can't remember any others but they all seem to die in a different way.
I cried for a good 2 days but I was happy she died protecting the people she loves and that showed me how brave Tris really is other than being the first jumper or the girl that was stronger than Peter
I want Allegiant to come out already!!! Veronica is such an amazing writer!!! I love her work!!!
She would never kill off the two main characters. But it is NOT going to be predictable, that's for sure!!! So dang EXCITED FOR ALLEGIANT!!!!
Allegiant was incredible. Tris is just.... The most phenomenal character.... Ugh. Feels.
I just finished Allegiant. I spent 10 hours straight to finish it. I laughed, I growled, and I especially cried, but I feel like it ended perfectly, and I admire Veronica for going with the risk, and it really paid off.

She's only six years older than me! I find it amazing how she's such a succesfull author at this young age, gives me hope I, one day, can succeed publishing my own book(s)

i finished it a few days ago. I was a wreck. It literally stabbed me and left me in the dirt to die in a puddle of my own tears. I can't believe it. I feel like I lost a really close friend. :'(

I was pretty happy with the ending.

YES it was sad and..well tragic, especially considering that Tobias is now alone...but I think it was fitting. I don't think it would have been in character for Tris to just let Caleb die like that. I was hoping that after she survived the serum she would have lived (I was even hoping it right up until Tobias came back and talked to Cara) but I'm...ok...with it bring this way as well.
Plus it suggests in the book that at least in that reality, there is an afterlife of some kind and hopefully she got to be happy in that with her family.
That's exactly how I feel but people don't understand that this ending reveals Tris's real character.
True I feel the same way everyone says it's so bad and the book is terrible; yes I cried and I was sad but it was the only fitting ending. I actually liked the book. The divergent series is by far my FAVORITE trilogy ever!!!

Katniss, she is heroine, became strongers because the situation. She came from poor gfamily, her dad died in accident and her mother became 'crazy' for a little while. She needed survive for her little sister.
Tris, she CHOOSE to be stronger. Actually she came from a good family, never starving in her life, but she break the rules, get out from her comfort zone, making a choise to be a part of wild life in Dauntless. So I agree with u

She did not copy it all. And i hate how people are always saying "Veronica Roth's Divergent is a rip off of the Hunger Games." These novels have different main characters, different plots, worlds, side characters. The only similarity is the gender of the protagonist and that they both spark rebellion. The Hunger Games is amazing by itself and its one of my favorite series ever and so is Divergent. And trust me, Veronica Roth does not need anything from the Hunger Games to maker her book amazing.
If you want my personal opinion, try to make the two books last long. I became addicted and read the two books in a week. I wish they would have lasted longer. Now after about 6 months im reading it again and there are things i hadnt noticed whilst reading it the first time, Great saga!

I'm reading Chapter 18 now and it's going great so far but I already know what happened in the end. So many spoilers. But yea I refuse to cry and believe it until I read that part myself. :(

ya im a guy, though i do find this series amazing and may be even better than the hunger games series, just amazing plot character development, and there in no annoying love triangle just one guy, and im not afraid to say that i love this book.

If u ask me I wanna said. Divergent it's a great book, amazing and u can't compare with another even its from same genre. For me, DIvergent looks like Harry Potter thing Collide with Mortal Instrument Series, and a little pieces from The Island movie...>,

Hello? Roth never ever copy anything from anyone. I really hate when someone said that her cheating story from HG or even Harry Potter ( even actually the story it's almost close the same...the 5 faction&4 dormitory ) In HG actually its all about alpha female characters.In Divergent, Tris and four united to be the one strength power, they bounding each others. In Hunger Games, Katniss didn't die if the peeta or gale thing dead.
Veronica Roth has promised that she won't kill Four... But she is doing the book in double POV's: Fours and Tris'..... SO THAT LEAVES THE WAY OPEN FOR HER TO KILL OFF TRIS....

I'm ten and I read this series and I cried for hours when I went down stairs I told my sister that she was going to cry her eyes out because she hasent fineshed insurgent yet but it was a good way to end the series my librarian suggested it but good book and any body who hasent read it should (spoiler alert) tris/Beatrice dies it's so sad David killed her and Tobias waits two years to spread her ashes but he faces his fear while spreading the ashes because he goes down the zip line

No mean to brag but I read all if divergent in about 1 hour. Took me a few for insurgent. I hope that allegiant isn't going to be as bad as mockingjay. No dissing against suzane Collins but hey. Veronica wrote these novels while she was fresh out of college. I think she should get some record for that.
