I'm a Texas fan who grew up watching Coly McCoy go down in 2009 against Bama, so I've watched the downfall and learned to not expect a whole lot. That being said, I'm extremely grateful for where Sark has us. I'm not expecting to run the SEC right off the bat, but I definitely think we are a strong contender. I'm looking forward to the beat-down LSU is gonna give OU in Baton Rouge.

Texas has a very manageable sec schedule. They only play 2 away games in the league and that’s not until 10th & 12th game of year.
AND if we handle Michigan early we will have a high early ranking which will leave some wiggle room for a loss or two if it should come to that.
“Manageable”??? Their sec schedule is easy asf. They play absolutely NOBODY outside of UGA (at home) and maybe OU (neutral site). They play the weakest sec teams away from home. Sankey literally tried setting them up to not get exposed in their first season 😂. Let me know whenever Texas plays at LSU, UGA and Ole Miss all in the same regular season, then I’ll be impressed.

This deep WR room is better than last year. Versatility is there for sark to carve it up.
Hopefully the passing game chemistry develops quickly in ‘24 with this new group of receivers along with better red zone offense and improved defense, there’s a chance. 🤘🏼
They have an easy schedule
I am a lifelong Longhorn fan and a pragmatist. Texas has the potential to do well in the SEC, but in order to win it, they must play at a more consistently high level all season. At their best, they can compete with anyone in the country, but can they compete at the required level all season? Time will tell us.
The lost a lot of talent along the defensive line and had some close games against below average teams (TCU & Houston). The schedule is manageable but I still don’t see them going undefeated in 24, however they are definitely on the right path.
As a longhorn fan I’m with Josh on this one. We have a better chance of winning the title this year than going undefeated and winning the title. Texas will go 10-2 this year.
Possible loses includes OU, Georgia,Arkansas, A&M. I can see Texas dropping two of those games.

Yeah I think that contributed to that. Saban saw Texas and the amount of resources that they have , and wanted no part of trying to out recruit them, and Georgia at the same

2023 was Texas best opportunity. It will be harder in a 12-team playoff. Can it be done? Yes. Only time will tell. Meanwhile, Austin waits for glory to return.
It's definitely possible. Ewers is a great QB, they return 4 out of 5 of their OL, and receiver talent is rarely a problem there. So long as Sark gets his replacement receivers up to speed, they'll be dangerous on offense. The question mark I'm not in a position to say one way or another about is whether there is a flaw in Sark's x's and o's that the right coach can exploit to shut them down. Texas plays Michigan (defending national champions), Georgia (recent natty calibur team always known for great defense), and A&M (bringing in Mike Elko as head coach and still loaded with talent.)
I guess that's why they play the games though.
My prediction, nobody who makes the twelve team playoff will be undefeated. You may get an undefeated team, who is not ranked in the top twelve.
Georgia, Texas and Oregon
Ohio State will have their deffenticies addressed next season. Throw them in there, and at the least they'll be tough to beat in the playoffs.

I think my Texas Longhorns will go undefeated in the regular season and win the SEC because their schedule is favourable and if you don’t believe me go look at their schedule and you’ll get an idea of what I’m talking about

I think Sark is a good coach and much as I hat to admit it, Texas is a good team. HOWEVER, I'm not sure where everyone is getting this idea that they are going to just come into the SEC and dominate everyone. Look at this past season. They only played two Power 5 non-conference games. Now, yes, one was against Alabama and they won. But that was in Week 2 and Alabama was not playing very well at all in the first part of the season (this is not to take away from the Texas win. I'm just saying Alabama is a team that tends to get better over a season). Texas did not play another non-conference Power 5 team until they faced Washington, and they lost that game.
Yes, Texas did rip through the conference games, but that was the Big 12. It's not that great of a conference, at least not this past season. Consider the teams Texas played: Out of 10 opponents, only 6 had winning schedules. Of those, only 4 had more than 7 wins and finished the season in the top 25. Texas won vs 3 but lost to Oklahoma.
So, it's unsuprising that they did that well. I don't think they are going to have as easy a time in the SEC. They do have a favorable schedule and they get both Vanderbilt and Kentucky. But I think they are in for a rude awakening if they come into the 2024 season thinking it's going to be a cake walk. They MIGHT go undefeated. They MIGHT play for and win the natty. I just don't think it's the given a lot of people seem to think it is.

Bro every power 5 team only plays 1-2 non conference power 5 teams in a year. It’s part of the scheduling. And you forget that Texas is and has been recruiting to join the sec the past 2 years. As pate said we are finally at the point where we don’t have to rebuild we just need to reload. Which we definitely have offensively.
Oh I know you have heard ME scream from the mountaintops about his wasted years at Washington and USC, which left those programs destitute for years (only last year did Washington recover), and those that refuse to heed the past are doomed to repeat it...well guess what, he's doing it again! Sure we won 12 games and made it to the CFP, but so did Michigan State and TCU, yet what did they do the very next year? Are we going to ignore that he was outcoached against the likes of Wyoming, Houston, OWho, both Kansas schools, TCU, and ultimately Washington last year? He only won all but 2 based on having the better talent...but not now in the SEC! How we ran the ball 15x up the middle which injured Brooks for the season and made our offense one-dimensional when it mattered most! Worst of all is we have NO secondary for the 4th straight year, which killed us against elite passers, and we have a starting QB that is prone to overthrow passes beyond 20 yds...not quite a championship team...
The problem isn't Texas not having talent, but what the hell we ever do with it year after year! Drunken Sark is an absolute failure as a head coach that WILL NEVER win a national championship (bank on it!) and sEwers is a QB bust overall (when he's not injured)...THOSE are the only odds worth mentioning!

I don't think *any* team will ever go undefeated and win a national title again. Unless we get a situation where one year Boise State has the same talent level as Texas, Georgia, Michigan and Alabama thanks to brilliant development of what were two-star recruits into five-star seniors and plucking four-stars from the transfer portal to add depth, and then they destroy everyone in the MWC and in four coin-flip thrillers beat Texas, Georgia, Michigan and Alabama in the playoff.
You know what the chances of that happening are outside of a video game? Slim and none, and Slim just packed his bags and left the building.
Assuming the national champion comes from the SEC or Big 10, the gauntlet in those conferences no makes it impossible for any team to make it through the sixth week of conference play undefeated.
Just like with the 4-team CFP, the championship only has to get to the playoff undefeated, since at that point it's win or go home. It's still going to be tough to do, just like it has been. But I don't think it's something that is unlikely to happen.

Texas really wasn’t that good last year, they would’ve been underdogs to Bama, Oregon, and OSU at the end of the year. Oregon will be way better than Texas next year, as they were way better last year. Obviously OSU will be better. Don’t be results oriented, think big picture. Texas played an easy schedule and beat Bama when they were developing. Oregon was favored by 10 over UW, Texas only favored by 4.
