@@valeriehancotte-galan4790 The minute the tiny home communities are built, there are people who will stop paying rent, quit work, give into their urges etc. Simply because of the safety net provided. There are plenty of resources available for most people who WANT to get off the street to actually get off the street. Yes, the system could be better, but another giant safety net is not what society needs. Pedro could be living in a low income apartment collecting Social Security, and getting food assistance and Medicare right now. There is no reason he HAS TO sleep in the park.
Helping to build your own home gives security and self worth. Some people, especially women, are living on only $500 a month social security. After paying one third of your income for low-income rent, there's no car, no money to cover much if anything... people become stuck. When they can't go out and be social, depression sets in. A very high incidence of suicide is prevelent in those over 50 who are low-income. Our government gives BILLIONS and our churches give MILLIONS overseas. We MUST take care of Americans first. 80% of women over 65 are living in POVERTY in the U.S.!!!
I was recently homeless for over two years, a 61 year old woman with heart problems, unable to work anymore, forced to survive on $388 state disability each month (half went to a small storage unit) for two years until I got my social security, which is way below poverty level. This man is speaking the truth for many homeless. Not drug addicts or alcoholics, Americans who worked their whole lives, thrown out like trash, while the rest of the world walks by like you are not even there. People do yell at you, threaten you, attack you. Being homeless is a very dangerous, hard way to live. Basic survival takes all you have just to make it to another day. To have dry blankets, food, water, necessities. Homeless crisis in every state in our country. America could do better to care for it’s citizens. Much, much better. I did not get one night in the shelter in over eighteen months on the waiting list. Their maximum occupancy is 19 and there are over 300 counted homeless people here, plus many more too. God IS all we have in the darkness. I hold you in my prayers. 🙏
Yes, Mermaid! No one teaches us how to invest or about social security until it's too late. We spend our whole lives taking care of everyone else. Rents, car repair, healthcare costs out of control, no one gives a damn about us!!
We’re all a month of missed rent away from where Pablo is now. It’s sad that our country spends billions and trillions on war and defense but can’t spare hundreds or thousands to try and fix the homelessness problem. It’s very sad how the world in general treats the homeless. The world we live in is evil.
Do you think hundreds of thousands will help the homeless? Or ven millions? You heard him say he's been thru rehab 6 times, do you know what that costs? He won't go to the shelter, his family doesn't seem to want him, he can't manage his money. I worked with the homeless near D.C., it's way more complicated than people realize.
@@stormyweather2807 My brother is in his 10th rehab. The reasons for alcohol or drug abuse is not just because they want to do it. Some have serious things that have happened to them in their lives and this is how they cope. This is the longest he has stayed in a rehab and he is doing so good. Also not all rehabs are created equal. Some are just plain garbage, only there to collect the state money. I took the stance of tough love with him and had not allowed him in my home for over 6 years.. Christmas day was the 1st time he was allowed to come in..only because I can see how much better he is and how serious he is at wanting to maintain his sobriety. Our mom died on june 5th, I wish she could of seen how well he is doing.
@@stormyweather2807 A lot of people don't understand how expensive rehab and forced mental institutionalization can cost. Forced institutionalization can cost 1000 - 3000 dollars pr day. Drug rehab can cost $500 - $2000 per day. I do have to place a lot of the blame on the American people for taking these drugs. There really is only so much the Federal government can do.
The federal govt could do a lot better. The cost of social programs is nothing compared to the money spent waging wars just to make the rich richer. Healthcare doesn't have to be this expensive either. It's all about corruption starting at the top.
Your stereotype of the homeless is ignorant, arrogant and disgusting. Many of these people are disabled and have no family to help them. Many worked their whole lives and paid taxes on everything. I don't know where you get your dollar figures from but there is nothing more important in this world then helping the most vulnerable. Many things are genetic. I know a family that is in their sixties, the oldest just died at 72. The mother of these adults died from ALS 57 years ago. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Everyone of these 5 adults worked their whole lives and were not homeless. There are only 2 of the 5 adults left. Two died from inheriting ALS and one from cancer. They all supported each other when they were healthy and when they became sick and died. Not everyone is so fortunate to come from such a family. Genetics are everything be it ALS, mental illness and an infinite number of inherited deadly genes and diseases. You are being so self-righteous and know nothing about the human condition. One day you could be one of these people. @@ValisFan3
It's very expensive to be poor. Here's some examples. If you are wealthy or have more money, you can afford to invest in something like real estate or in the stock market which involves risk, if you have a lot of money to begin with, that risk is not as devastating. If you don't have a lot of money, you can lose everything. So you know you really think twice or more than twice about investment which is actually where wealth can be built. Another example is and this is really odd, but if you have health insurance, the hospital for example has contracts with insurance companies where they actually pay them quite a bit less than the actual charge. If you don't have health insurance because you can't afford it because the premiums are really high, they're like 700 a month. That's what mine was before I got on Medicare, if you don't have insurance, you have to pay the full amount. Wow, right? Here's one more example. If you have plenty of money you can afford to take advantage of stock up sales, buy bulk or large amounts all at once and sit on them until you need them. Poor people can't do that. They're busy just barely getting the basic necessities if that. There are many, many reasons we are in this situation, including the income inequality that has been growing over the last 50 years through deregulation of corporations, and the reduction of taxes on the wealthy and increased loopholes. But another reason is because we are not taught how to invest. We are not taught financial education. I know I was not. So we don't really know how to do it. Wealthy people can hire advisors and professionals that know how to invest. Poor people cannot. They are busy just trying to get by which takes all their energy, poverty also causes crime, hopelessness despair. It's not good for anybody. It erodes society from the bottom up. It's not sustainable at some point. I expect we will come to a point where France was in the late 18th century. Heaven forbid but it's not there yet but we are headed that direction with the vast inequality that is getting worse
We can't have people walking around and pooping on the streets, yelling at and attacking people, etc. There's help available for those who are interested in or mentally able to get it. Just live in a car and join a gym $10/month for showers and internet with money from panhandling, get food at shelters, and nobody's really going to give you any problems. It's a rough life and it shouldn't have to come to that, but it's better than being out in the open on the streets.
I lived in Manchester 15 years ago, back then they had one boarding house called the Cadillac motel, it was $65 a week for a room with a lock, heat & electric & a bathroom down the hall. Cities should do more to make places like that available to the people who need them
That Alley Cat... don't even have to be a mega church. A lot of the churches have several acres of land. There really is no excuse. Tiny houses can be built for pennies on the dollar!

The problem is that families do not stick together, neither do friends. They move away, die or they outgrow their relationships and their relationships outgrow them.
You may be right. You may be wrong. When I was a child, teenager and young adult, both of my parents were alcoholics but they could function and were not poor. It was hell too often. There are functional alcoholics. Even if they were not alcoholics which so many well healed adults were in those days, there were still very affluent adults that I knew who were abusive. Alcoholics and non alcoholics can be hell to live with. But I understand your concept and speculation. He is still a very sick person and there is plenty of money in the United States for all kinds of people that are problematic as most people are. @@jacobus57
There is no god but I partially agree with you. Family dies or has their own lives and are selfish. Spouses call the shots when a person wants to help their sibling. The spouse wants the money and time for their newly created family. They don't give a sheet about your brother, sister or mother. They want it for their bloodline children even if those children are 50 years old.
Families need to stick together more than ever now. So many people not talking to their parents and or people losing their families altogether. Having a social safety net is key. We live in hard times man.
The only way our family of 5 adults can avoid homelessness is to pool our resources and rent a home together. One works for the police department, 2 work for a large retailer, 1 works for an airline and one is retired. Our hope is to ride out this difficult time while avoiding debt.
I agree eventually I belwove families will have too love in together grandparents parents grandkids just to pay foe everything because if ypu are close families because it is getting too unaffordable too live on your own unless you are millionaire.
Wrong, it's our fault. If WE marched in the streets the politicians would have to listen...but we don't. If WE mentored people so that they had legitimate job training....but we don't. If we got OUR dead asses out of the churches, synagogues, and mosques and help people learn how to build their own tiny house for pennies on the dollar we could literally eliminate homelessness....BUT WE DON'T!!! Went on a portion of a hiking trail I had not been on in over ten years. Saw two tents just about fifty feet from a major highway. I'm starting to see more homeless in the suburbs and the cities. The shelter system needs to be reformed.
I took a 60 mile drive to our County seat, three years ago, there’s only two gas stations & a dollar store along the way, the entire Hwy was littered with traps, tents, & litter. Quite shocking to see folks trying to survive where the only thing that thrives is rice fields.
If a person is homeless, they should automatically get at least an 8x8 room and shared kitchen and bathroom. Give them a smaller check then, but make sure they have a permanent room, food stamps and a comfort allowance for every homeless person. There should not be people living on the streets
My story runs very parallel with his..... I am a 59 year old chronic alcoholic, 15 rehabs, destroyed the ones I loved and anyone that tried loving me!! The only difference between myself is the fact that I have finally accepted responsibility for the situation I have put myself in!! The guilt, shame and remorse creates a depression that is paralyzing. So... I am homeless and unemployed... It is hard for us old alcoholics to get employment and a fresh start.. therefore it is easier to leave family and anyone who cared or cares alone.. people like me have put them through too much.. I am one hundred percent a believer of reaping what we have given in life.. So... Its easier to just go away in life at our age and maybe we don't wake up!!

Same situation here in Canada. There are more homeless, people are hurting and rents for a one bedroom here range between 1200 and 2000 dollars. Politicians do not care, yet we let millions of foreigners in and give everything free to them. Where i live, i go to a soup kitchen every day. I was talking to the guy that runs it and he says they feed over 300 people a day and have to turn others away as they run out of food donations. I blame greedy landlords. Rents are being set at prices that only wealthy people can afford. Realtors and banks are also to blame. Realtors ascribe a high price to a property and the banks AGREE.
I feel the government is wanting to push people out of housing. The assessed values double in a year, then the taxes, and insurance went up. Old people be damned.

I live in a nice neighborhood, and I don't make a lot of money to start paying rent somewhere else, but those investors don't care about my situation. If I didn't own my unit, I would certainly be homeless, as well.
If rents were affordable less people would be out on the streets when they experience a hard change of circumstances (losing their house, job, spouse ect.) Usually rent is the same price as a mortgage...because when you become a renter you are now paying SOMEONE ELSES mortgage. And these greedy landlords don't care, because to them it's an InVEsTMeNT, and they could care less about your need to have a place you can call HOME. They just want your $$$ and YOU will pay for their investment to profit them so they don't have to pay for it themselves. They want $$ for expending as little energy as possible...it's called passive income, and they are proud of stepping on people like rungs on a ladder to achieve their desired goals Seems like they don't even realize they should be ashamed of themselves for the part they played in driving up housing costs, making homeownership unattainable for so many. But because they have no conscience, they feel no shame for the part they played in the deterioration of our society as a whole.

I am so grateful for this bus in which my whole world depends. I am one malfunction away from the street myself and the money I get for disability allowance won't last to the 15th. The city expects me to drive around if I can't afford to go camping at a campground. There are roving bands of psychopaths hunting homeless and the news has the gall to lable them vigilantes. He is a human being, so WHY aren't we doing anything about homelessness? We need tiny home communities across this nation NOW!!!
God bless you.friend
Have you managed to find a place to rent on your social security?
This is horrifying. New England is way too cold to live outside in winter!
You better hope Trump doesn't get back in power. He'll take everything, including your measly social security check.
@@ValisFan3
There are few things more cruel than criminalizing the poor.
Unbelievably cruel. God is watching.😢

The problem is that families do not stick together, neither do friends. They move away, die or they outgrow their relationships and their relationships outgrow them.

Usually rent is the same price as a mortgage...because when you become a renter you are now paying SOMEONE ELSES mortgage.
@@MuzicTunes-lk6npis not LL fault. They have payments to make. I blame our financial system and employers not paying people enough to afford mortgage and rent.
Pablo is well spoken!
😢 sending this men a hug
I was homeless last year. I might be homeless again next year, I don't know.
Oh I hope you’re not homeless next year. It is so terribly difficult. Same for me. So far I have made it into 2024, but will I be homeless by April? Oh I hope not. I hope not.
We love you Mark
No judgement for this man. There but for the grace of God go I!🙏🙏🙏
My heart goes out to you Joe. I pray you're able to make a good life for yourself. Live free and healthy my friend.
Finland takes care and helps
their homeless 😢😢😢😢😢😢❤
Praying Pablo that you find shelter, a home, a bed, warmth and food ❤
How sad is this. 65 years old. This man should be kicked back on his front porch enjoying retirement. Instead he gets treated like a criminal due to unfortunate circumstances in his life that have left him on the street. God bless him and I hope and pray that he has found shelter
🙏❤️ Reality of it all...this could be ANY of us! I'm 61 disabled and living with my sister and brother in law. They're getting old and need me to move. SSDI ain't much for rent, food and utilities! I could pay rent, then what? I found a place based on your income, but the waiting list I've been on, for going on 3yrs, is still not available! Lord bless all these homeless good people like this man! 🙏❤️
USA needs to take care of US, before illegals and other countries seeking asylum.
People seeking asylum are not doing anything illegal; they are simply migrants or asylum seekers. There is nothing illegal about either one.
I agree 1000000% Makes me so sick..
Immigrants - people who have even less than any of us & other countries are not the reason for even one homeless person in the US. Stop watching bs news that only exists to keep you invested so that they can sell advertising.
When will you ever learn who the real enemy is. NEVER. immigrants are not his enemy. Pablo didn't blame them. Why are you. They didn't get him in this situation. Did you not hear him when he said he called the senator and he hasn't heard back. How is an immigrant to blame for that.
If you don't want immigrants here, i suggest you contact your reps and senators to change US foreign policy, stop corporate welfare, bank bailouts, subsidies, etc.
Flawed logic and utter nonsense on your part.
Immigrants & other countries are not the reason for homelessness in the US. Stop kicking down & start kicking up, if you’re at all concerned
Man this is so damn sad 😢😔.
I worked for 21 years. I planned my family and waited to have children so we would be financially sound. I retired at 38 to have my 2nd child because my husband’s career took off and we could afford it. We split when our baby was 7 months and my first was 5. I went back to work but my baby was sick every 5 weeks for a year so I quit. I was very fortunate to be able to be a stay at home mom and get child support and Alimony. I planned on going back again when my kids were in middle school. Unfortunately my mom got dementia so I took care of her and carpooled kids So I didn’t go back to work. When she died I was 55 and no one wanted me in my industry. I then moved in with my niece to take care of her kids because she got divorced. My child support ended. I’m now on SS but I took it at 62 so I got penalized $700. There is no way I could afford to live on my own now. I live in CA and rent starts at $2800. When I lived on my own divorced it was $1900 in 2010. I could be homeless in a second. My kids are still too young for me to live with them. My youngest is 18
Pray always and do according to what God lays on your heart, that still small voice described in scriptures, some call it a gut feeling. Always harken unto that still small voice, because it is God speaking to your heart. ❤🙏🙏🙏
Families need to stick together, it is a matter of survival. Family and friends, we need to be there for each other. ❤🙏
I wish you could still work but maybe not because you took your social secuirty early. I went back to work at 53 it took me 1.5 years to find a job. I am 70 still working you can do this.
jancalipo490-go to Mexico.Small town low rent.
I heard you could still work while collecting Social Security . Perhaps You can you use your niece as a reference and become a live in nanny or caregiver .. Those kind of jobs may also be kinder to someone your age then a corporate job ,
God be with him. You can see what an intelligent and wise man he is. I pray he finds stability soon.
❤️🙏🏻 for all who are homeless
Prayers for him and others.
Please dear God grant him his wishes.
Just watched a doc on the homeless in Finland. They started a project where they built housing for the them and it has helped in many ways.
Yes. It is helping alot. They are trying to do something.
It's called "Housing First", an AMERICAN concept!
New Hampshire needs a new mayor that remembers that God judges every man's work...
Whoso stops his ears at the cry of the poor he himself also shall cry and not be heard....this is God's word.
I've been homeless, and I, too, am a Christian. Now, I have a home...i pray for this man and all homeless.
The Mayor gets a lifetime pension plan from the state. So he doesn't care about a homeless man. At the judgment, the first shall be last and the last shall be first
Perfect example of:
Never give up.
This man did.
Yes he did. He tried to be honest but addiction could'nt be beat. Choices put you in bad place. We have become too weak.
It's the mindset stopping this individual, in my opinion. I've been there.
Getting out, although not easy, is possible.
Start over man, that's all.
You built a life once. Try again.
I feel bad for him.
Thanks for sharing Pablo's story. We need to really work on our homeless issue as a community.
This guy gives me hope! I'm 64. It's looking like my council flat will be demolished next year. As a single male, I'm looking at homelessness, just as I draw my pension. Rents are double what i pay just now, for even the most basic accommodation, which I couldn't afford.
This guy looks to be coping okay. I can surely at least cope too.
move to Vietnam , Saigon city , everything is cheaper than US , rent 1 room in Saigon just about 300 dollars /month . My uncle get SSA about 1500 dollars/month , then he go and live in Saigon from 2020 until now, living a comfortable life there
@thunggiap1806 That's not a bad shout. I'm from the UK and the state pension will be far lower than 1500 dollars a month. It's less than £1000 sterling just now, though going up. But still doable. 300 dollars is less than the 345 pounds sterling I pay now.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I’m 84 living on SS in SEA….have a little in savings and feel Blessed… you are in my prayers Pablo…
Reason here , living cheaper than the U.S. God Bless everyone praying for others like Pablo.☦️🙏
My parents are having a hard time paying for rent. We might get evicted. My cousin is like 30 and has like one or two kids with his wife and still lives with his mom. It’s not the people, it’s inflation and everything else we’re getting billed with.
Real grateful kids he has. No one knows you when you are broke. Why can't the interviewer ask why his kids can't help him.
in most of the 'civilized' nations on the planet 'family' is at the core of one's universe, here it is loathed by leftists who firmly believe that 'government' needs to be at the center...
Can you please start setting up go fundme pages for each person you interview? At least so they can get a hotel for a few days
“The stereotype is we’re all drug addicts and drunks… That may be true”
It is a shame that these people, although maybe not perfect in everyone's eyes, cannot be helped to get housing, food, and medical care. I would start with the housing. Freezing to death seems cruel.
Permanent Housing and food stamps for every homeless person immediately.
@@AlizaDashaWhy should I work and pay for the food and housing of people who dont work? Why shouldn't everyone be responsible for themselves? You do realize that the money the government spends are the taxes that working citizens pay right? Our taxes go up the more they spend.
@@SubconsciouslyConsciouscarrot For one thing, some of these people are retirement age, so they may be collecting on a system they paid into when they were able to work. As for others, yeah, seems like a real good idea to let people languish in conditions that might breed disease, an ingenious way to bring down the surplus population--which is all of us.
@@pamelafarmer3426 Perhaps, those that can't contribute to or be a productive part of society should live outside the privileges of a structured society. Places such as slab city come to mind.
@@SubconsciouslyConsciouscarrotShould you ever find yourself struggling financially or homeless due to unexpected health issues and circumstances, remember your self-righteous attitude. Homelessness is not caused by lazy people who don’t want to work. It’s a far more complex problem than that. Apparently far above your ability to understand or have any compassion for.
Sending him love X
To stop drinking, you need to deal with the reason you are drinking, we drink to numb the pain, and unresolved issues, you got to put in the work in, but the result is worth it. Then you can start living life fully. God bless
One of many reasons why we need to get people in the housing. It’s nearly impossible to stay sober when you’re going to the bathroom behind a dumpster in the McDonald’s parking lot every day.
The two guys on the Talk Sober channel describe the battle. Any doctor will say alcohol is poison, it destroys everything in the body. Peoples mindsets need to change.
I don't see any alcohol anywhere near him.
I will gladly pray for you mister. Try and contact your daughter. I would die before I let my DADDY sleep in the streets.🙏🙏🙏🙏
The heart of a father is the masterpiece of Nature...
♥️
Homeless are the surviors for what they go through God bless them
It really is sink or swim now….Lord help us.
I worked as a social worker for unhoused folx in Portland, Maine. The last few years we've seen a big increase in the unhoused population. Id recommend going there, appreciate your interviews with our unhoused neighbors! City is clearing up homeless encampments every month, just ruining their homes and causing more harm to their citizens
A social worker. So you got a free pension fund from the county or state right???? You have nothing in common with this man who got nothing
Doesnt this man get social security? I have known at least 5 people who are homeless. Not one are drug addicts nor alcoholics. All lost their jobs for whatever reason and then😊 their homes. Then the streets hit you and u have nothing. Take around belongings in a trash bag or push it in a cart. Scared if u are a female. Rape is first reason. Being beaten with rape is frightening to all women on the streets. Never seeing your kids and family is another. My daughter made it out of this situation. Luckily her section,8 came through just as my landlord said she had to leave after Thanksgiving. My neighbor here helped her with a thousand dollars towards rent. We couldn't
That was my question. He should be getting something from s.s. and eventually save up for a car unless he's had a lot of dui"s and can't get a license.
He said he owned a business, it could be that he didn't pay in enough or any taxes at all. If his ex-wife worked, he may could draw on hers.
He probably doesn't qualify for social security if he hasn't worked in ten years or more. Not until age 67
Takk!
I grew up in Manchester, NH. Thank you for speaking to people from this city. Such a sad situation, heartbreaking.
thanks so very much
America,be a solution . Watch and Pray 🙏.
Hey Pablo! So sorry you have to go through this at your age. If only you are within my area we would be more than happy to let you sleep in our rented place during this winter time. Glad you aren't forgetting God despite of your current situation. Things will be better, we will pray for you! Love from London ❤️❤️❤️
I always didnfall beteeen the cracks with my autism but I was necer irresponsible, sloppy, addictive, loud or negligent. I just am too disabled to support myself.
Why not go to another state??
When I was homeless in 2006 I got a Po box got a cheap car went to state park camp grounds stayed at a fishing pier for 5 dollars a night parked at church parking lots Walmart it's still very hard not to have a place to live but it's ok if you have a van or car to move around I will pray he finds better ❤🙏
Exactly.A 65 yo would have some Social Security money coming or a free phone to earn few extra bucks with.Save up after a while Get a vehicle to sleep in ,cook and store your stuff.Hard to to do if you are a drunk and blow it repeatedly while expecting someone to offer you a free apartment with all the knick nacks.Obviously "god" isn't doing anything to help him lol.Not saying that things are easy for people. This is one terrible society but you must have some intelligence to help yourself.
