  • The NanLux 900C has been a part of my van package for the last 3 months. I've taken the time to learn the strengths and weaknesses of the lights and learned how to get the most out of it on set.

    Hi Logan, Ron (Nanlux) here. Thanks for this comprehensive review. Just a quick note regarding the controls. In order to get the IP 55 rating controls cannot be on the power supply. As you mention there are a number of ways to remotely control the heads. And, the latest is a wired controller that is just now shipping, it plugs into a port on the bottom of the 900 and the back of the 1200 (and Dyno heads as well). It has an 8m extension cable.

      Hey, thanks Ron! I’ve heard mixed thoughts about controls on the head but I have never heard the practical reason for doing it this way. Appreciate the insights.

      Respectfully though, over an official rating, controls on the power supply is far more important as running two cables is double the work and simply never going to be the preferred for any gaffer.

      @@TheTechnoPilot Running two cables as in the cable for the wired remote control? I've operated the evokes for several years now and either using crmx or the phone app almost completely negates the annoyance of the controls being on the head. I'd much rather have the IP rating and a small, manageable ballast.

    how do you like it? would you recommend it to add to my 2ton?

      I love it. I don't know your needs or what gap you're trying to fill in your 2-ton but I added a 1200B to my 900C in my sprinter. I think the build quality and customer service is top notch!

    Hi how do you mix brands in terms of controlling them? Are there any catches mixing brands vs using the same brand in terms of controls?
    Are there any issues you’ve found working with different brands of lights? E.g. matching, mixing them seamlessly, or having different modifier mounts? Va to just sticking with one brand?
    Looking to hear from your experience and perspective if mixing brands works the same as staying in one brand outside of maybe losing the use of a brand specific app to control all lights.
    Thank you!

      Great question! I use wireless CRMX to control all lights from different brands on an iPad. I have a video about it- just check my recent uploads for the Wireless DMX CRMX video.

    Good stuff! I carry a 600D and a 600C in my small truck package and was wondering swapping them out for 900Cs but the cost is pretty steep for my market at the moment. Did you end up deciding on whether adding 900Cs to work along the 600Ds or are you more keen to replacing the 600Ds completely?

    • @PancakeLighting
      @PancakeLighting  7 місяців тому +1

      Great point. I kinda see the 600D's as swiss army knives. they can flex and be a lot of different things pretty easily. They're already paid off and I do get asked for them regularly. I think the 900C is a nice (although pricey) to the 600Ds. If I had a 600c along with the pair of D's, I might think about replacing that with a 900C.

    Does Nanlux offer a wired remote? (Something similar to the wired remote used on the Skypanel 60?

    • @PancakeLighting
      @PancakeLighting  6 місяців тому

      They do! It was actually just released and I haven’t gotten my hands on it yet. Works with all of the Evokes and I believe the Dyno panels as well.

      Thank you George! I do intend to do a more in depth CRMX video. I'm using an iPad with Luminair and I have a RatPac Satellite Transmitter.
