Love my Subaru Ascent. Yes they've had their share of recalls. But I've never experienced the same issue twice and service has been the best of any model I've owned. Love the ability to get good mpg but still enjoy off road. X-mode is a game changer iykyk 😊
We flat tow our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Never a problem. It’s not electric. I agree a trailer is just one more problem. Where to park it, tires, inspection, tags, etc. Good luck picking another vehicle. I used a web site (can’t remember the name), to rule out the vehicles that had a speed restriction.
The Julesburg wayside rest is fabulous. Free fresh water AND dump station, trash dumpster, coffee inside, and a rack of books for a free read. Brand new Cobblestone hotel ( not quite open yet) across the road if you need a swim in the pool.
We stayed at the Lake McConaughy recreation just north of Ogallala, our dog picked up those little pricker balls on his feet. And we stayed at Tiger Run, nice area.
@@fuelyourwander I had a 2021 Lincoln nautilus but it had a problem in the electrical system and to shift it into flat tow was a pain. My wife and i like comfort when we travel that’s one reason for the navigator. Also very easy to shift to the flat tow mode. The loaded navigator weight is 6600k lbs
We tow an F150 with a full cap on the back. They are flat towable and the cap allows for a lot of extra gear to come with us (2 E-bikes, a Ninja Woodfire Grill, dog pen, outdoor gazebo...). Never had an issue with the truck (fingers crossed), so we definitely recommend it.

We have a Kia EV6 GT-Line AWD and we absolutely love it. We got it because it's just fun to drive and have. We are actually leaving in 2 days to head to Vail, CO, and it'll be our first road trip in it. Good luck on the car search!
I have problems with my jacks doing that sometimes. Put it all the way down, clean it real good with WD-40, and let it go. Should fix it for a while. Just gets crud all over it.
Hey , on that actuator a k a landing gear. You need to find your pump and the valve that sends all the fluid to each actuator and give each fitting a little tightening with a wrench. With all the vibration from driving, they can loosen up and leak.It looks like you may have air in your system. Also one thing, I always do is take a can of WD40 and a good towel and spray down the shiny part of the actuator and clean them off before I retract my landing gear.
Thanks for taking us along. It was a great video. You do great videos. Maybe see you on the road sometime. Sorry about your troubles with your jeep though.
Ah yes...travel days, nice work! Keep us posted on the jack issue...it's always something. We just got a new to us Discovery LXE 44H. We are headed from the California coast where we live to Key West in March. A 3 month RV sojourn...can't wait! Happy Trails!
I had the same issue with the same jack. I got a rag and soaked it Transmission fluid and coated the jack stem while it was down, basically lubing the shaft. This fixed the issue. Maybe it will work for you.
Coach has a built in surge protector that’s much better than your extra one. They are not designed to function with the built in protector. Both rv Debbie and American coach told me not to use it. Like you I have always used one until lately. Love traveling along with you two. We also have a 22 Dream. Our 3 new American coach. Safe travels and God bless.
True, our coach does have a built in EMS/Surge protector but the external surge protector is relatively cheap additional insurance. Plus it gives me a quick visual when I hook up the power to see that the 240 circuit in the pedestal has been wired correctly. I’m the guy that always assumes if one of something is good, then two must be better. 😀
Back in the mod 1800's, Ogallala was a big deal because it was a major mail hub. 🙂 Where are your gloves? 🤨 Axel looks like a sweet boy dog... 💗 Y'all be careful!

We are test driving the Nautilus this week. It does look nice and I have high hopes. I have always liked Ford trucks and SUVs, so I would expect the Lincoln to just be high end derivative.😀

Toyotas are way better than your Jeep. Jeep has changed hands multiple times in the past 20 years. My brother loves his 95 wrangler but newer ones have lots of issues, especially electrical. We tow a 2003 Saturn Ion quad coup and we've bought a 2014 Honda CRV(Last year they were flat towable), to replace the Saturn when it does. Lol Your RV is beautiful. Safe travels.
Thanks! Yeah unfortunately Toyotas are not flat towable. It's a shame because we agree that the quality is much better. We have a few months to decide since it'll take a while to get through this lemon law process
Our first toad was a Wrangler. It was great for towing, never had an issue. 45k miles towed. We decided (maybe wrongly…) that we wanted something a littler large since it is our only vehicle. We went with Jeep GC because we had such a great experience with our Wrangler…. As they say, the rest is history. 😀
Owned 3 Jeeps but no more. My last 2023 Jeep was ALWAYS broken and in the shop. Not surprised at all about your Jeep troubles! Get something different than a Jeep.
Yeah we liked our Wrangler and never had an issue but not great as a daily driver. We were hopeful the GC would work out, but won’t buy any Stellantis product again after this experience
Generally we have had good experiences when we boondock at Cracker Barrels. I will just say, be aware of the location and your surroundings. Sometimes these places are right off the highway and become a little less safe at night.
Wipe your jacks down with WD40 and see if that makes a difference. This is the common solution. We did replace the springs on our last motorhome, but it was 20 years old.
We do that and keep them clean. I think it is the spring(s). It has been slow since we first purchased the RV, but lately it has become a consistent problem. Should be an easy fix. 😀
@@fuelyourwanderCaterpillar makes a hydraulic oil additive that may help with sticky seals (which may be what’s slowing retraction). We love our American Coach Diesel pusher and usually alternate dry camping with the generator and using full hookups. Less wasted travel time dry camping. Haven’t run into safety issues but we’re in the Southwest. Nice Rig!
Coincidentally, I have had the same issue with the same jack location (passenger rear) on our American Coach, a 2022 American Dream 42V. If the jacks are down for more than an overnight stop, the one jack takes longer to retract. Tapping lightly with a hammer speeds up the process. I'm going to also look into Maverick Welding's suggestion to use Caterpillar's hydraulic oil additive. Sticky seals make sense as I keep the jacks clean and wiped down. Separately, after much consternation, we decided to trailer tow versus flat towing. As you noted, the flat towing choices are becoming increasingly limited especially outside of the Stellantis/Jeep product line. We intend to purchase an Aviator or Explorer next year; current vehicle is an Expedition. With respect to trailer storage, it has yet to be an issue but then again, we stay at parks that have overflow parking or adequate site length. The trailer is a Legend 18 ft tilt car hauler with an upgraded 5200# tandem axle. It tracks beautifully and the only time I know it's behind the MC is going up a significant grade.
Curious that we have the same slow jack. Makes me wonder if there is a tight bed or even a kink in that particular line due to the design of the frame.
Chris from fuel your wonder instead of Jeep, how about Toyotas cause they are reliable and plus you like to flat tow, I can see that you pick up truck guy so I how about you get a Toyota Tacoma that can be easily flat tow
Re-watched...you use Roku cameras for outside video monitoring. Assume you use the Roku appliance for streaming as well? Are they interconnected? We were at the CA State Pismo Beach campground a couple of months ago...had our 2 Lectric bikes stolen, they were secured with a cable...might work for the casual thief, but worthless for the bolt cutter carrying determined burglar! Motion camera's may be an option?
The Roku cameras are just another app in the Roku appliance. They work really well and I like that they are portable, so for example, I could set them near the bikes or anywhere outside depending on the campsite. They do have motion detection, but that requires a monthly subscription.
Only bc we stayed one night passing through. We had planned to stop for a few days but after our Jeep broke down, it got more complicated so changed our plans a bit 😍
Exactly. If we had a trailer we could own any vehicle and just park it on the trailer. Most vehicles cannot be flat towed, so it limits your choice of vehicles.
@@fuelyourwandernice thing about a trailer as well is that you can backup with vehicle on a trailer where you obviously can’t do that with your flat toad, plus you dont have the wear and tear on your tow vehicle!
We had a Tesla and it was the best car I have ever owned. Gasoline vehicles are actually 60 times more likely to catch fire than electric vehicles. If fire safety is your concern - drive an electric vehicle. 😀
I'm looking at a couple of coaches, 1 with 450hp the other with 605hp. How is your 450 in the mountains. I know your not pulling anything right now but even a 3200# car would be noticable. What is your opinion please.
We have the 605hp and one of the main reasons we bought our American Coach I is it came standard. When pulling our Jeep, it does great through the mountains. Had a stacker trailer before and it pulled that with no issues. If you’re looking at a 45’ Coach, highly recommend getting the 605. The 450 is not enough power in my opinion for that size vehicle

Thank you so much. Jack did come down just fine. I think it is just a worn spring(s). Should be an easy fix next time we are parked for awhile. 😀 Thanks for the feedback! ❤️
I agree with both of you. There’s always something to fix or that has to be adjusted. I’ll make one suggestion to Chris. Wrap a rag around both your hoes when you reel it in and your 50 amp cord when you reel it in. The dirt and grime will build up inside the housing of the real assembly and one day. It will be one of those things you’ll have to fix. I would add Arizona to some of the worst roads in the nation. But most every state has some pretty bad roads. So much for our fuel tax maintaining the highways.

@@fuelyourwandernice thing about a trailer as well is that you can backup with vehicle on a trailer where you obviously can’t do that with your flat toad, plus you dont have the wear and tear on your tow vehicle!
I would think twice about an EV. They hate cold, The drive time is shortened and the batteries can explode when charging.
Thanks, that is my first choice to. We are going Monday to look at a Newmar London Air
Probably time to start looking for a new vehicle, sorry to hear about your luck. Sometimes it's the luck of the draw.
Very true. I like to think we just got a lemon.
We flat tow a chevy tahoe.
Any issues with it?
@@fuelyourwander None we have towed it for a year now.
It's a suspension issue and not a transmission issue😅😅
She was close… 😀
Try lubing all your jack shafts with WD-40. I also like to run them all the way down when I spray them.
We did. One of the springs needs to be replaced. Looking to get that done soon.
@@fuelyourwander You might check as I remember reading that someone had stronger springs. Sorrey I don't remember who. Have you seen the trick of putting wood (like paint stirs) in the springs so it is easy to change them?
👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Sad to say, its been Fiated. Even back in the 60s and 70s Fiats were known for spending more time in the shop than on the road. Fix It Again Tomorrow!
Yep, sad to say we can confirm that statement 😡
@@fuelyourwander That is a shame. Mom and I rented a 2012 Grand Cherokee when we went to Branson. They were such nice vehicles then. I don't get it, it's not like the Italians don't know how to make cars.
Yup definitely you bought a Lemon
100%!
Try a Hyundai hybrid.
Can they be flat towed?
Jeep sounds just like "cheap" made
👍🏼👍🏻🖤💙💜❤️
Ha! We had a scary night in a Cracker Barrell as well. Apparent drug deals and prostitution going on. Never again.
Same!!! But ours got legit scary. In the morning we woke up to bullets left on our RV steps. Never again after that
@@fuelyourwander OMG!! That's downright frightening. Stay safe!
Hi 👋 guys, awesome 👌 video 📹, so sorry about the Jeep(what a let down), Again!!!!, enjoy your 5 day stay chill 😎 and re charge your batteries 🔋, did the jack come down OK of it's own accord?, enjoyed the video 📹 ❤❤❤ take care ❤
Thank you so much. Jack did come down just fine. I think it is just a worn spring(s). Should be an easy fix next time we are parked for awhile. 😀 Thanks for the feedback! ❤️
@fuelyourwander oh great news 👏 👍
Great idea on the rag…. I’m going to add that to my routine. Thanks 👍
I'd like to have RVing with Beautiful Lady,if it's possible!
They make apps where you can find yourself a beautiful lady. 😀
@@fuelyourwander Thank you~!
Get a stick vehicle then you don’t have to worry.
👍👍👍
4XE is the key, not good
Lesson learned!
Time to purchase another style of vehicle , jeeps are off your list .
Yep as soon as we can money back from the lemon law case
Buy a HONDA or SUBARU!!!
Jeep reliability is in the toilet! It’s sad really.
Agreed! It’s a shame what they’ve done to the brand
just get real Jeep. Wranger ! And not a 4xe.
We had one. We traded it in on this Grand Cherokee.
Pickup truck.
Im not against trucks, it’s just not what we want.
@@fuelyourwander CYBERTRUCK? That would look great following your beautiful rig.
The problem with your Jeep it was built by Chrysler Chrysler is a piece of crap. Everything they build is junk.
Agreed sadly
Wear gloves
Sometimes I do. 😀
Pre covid weangler jl for toad
That’s what we had before our Grand Cherokee. Never a single issue. Should’ve kept it
@ we tried a Lincoln nautilus. Worked but too nice to tow. 2020 jl perfect behind our dutch star
Jeeps suck
Not all of them, but ours sure does…. 😀
OMG you talk too much 😮
Or does she talk just the right amount?
Were you expecting an ASMR vlog? 🙄
