it would've been great if you showed how to record the screen on the iPhone. But more importantly, you skipped the last step, you didn't really show if you exported the video with the audio or without. If you did export with the audio, are there any copyright issues? Can you now use this video for shorts, reels and tiktok? Or did you export without the audio and then used the sound from inside Instagram, if so, how do you deal with the other platforms, as they don't have the same songs.
Cool, Another way to make it fit the vertical format is Fill on the right hand side. And when you use the music from instagram, do they flag it if you upload your video with the actual song or do you export it with out the music and use the music in the reel options? I am pretty sure instagram has algorithms to detect that or not? I would say the best bet is to use the music to edit your video then export with out the music and use the music from instagram reels, otherwise they might take it down... Thanks for clearing that up...
1st time ive seen sum1 else do this. I started this last year in my travel vlogs and it was great fun. The other way to get the audio into timeline is just record it straight from ur phone to the timeline. Especially if you have an external speaker plugged in. Or if you have android…..

Actually, to not lose any resolution / quality, you should neither crop or transform the footage, but in the inspector under "Spatial Conform", where it is set to "Fit", change this setting to "None". Then you click on Trim and move the footage around until you have the frame that you want. ;-)

Thank you for this video! Will instagram automatically detect the original audio (when you upload it to the app) and put the correct audio in the sound description, or will it consider it as an original sound?
You’re welcome!! To answer your question no Instagram will not recognize it so you’ll have to go in and line it up with the actual audio track unfortunately.
Could you also specify how you set up the export settings so that the video was in the best quality IG would get and post (which is not the same things by the way)?
I always just export at 1080p and the quality looks great on IG

Thanks for the audio tip. What are your export settings in fcpx? I’m having issue once I upload the vid looks a lot different. I have high quality uploads enabled too
I always export in 1080P, it’s good quality for Instagram. Remember these are being viewed on phones so it’s not necessary in my view to export in 4K.
