I wish they hadn't stopped production on the X3000 action cam. So many IRL streamers use this cam and are desperate for a new small form factor camera with optical image stabilisation.
DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA!!! It is not an upgrade if you already have a modern smartphone. If vlogging is your main priority and you want to upgrade from a smartphone, then I'd recommend the GoPro 11 or DJI Osmo Action 3. If your priority is shooting talking head videos and/or general filmmaking then I'd recommend the Canon EOS M50 Mark II or the Sony ZV-E10.
Nice videography and sound production on the video. I have to comment on the camera's hairpiece. Looks like quite the toupée! Who knew they were coming to cameras near you???😁

@@coreytomsrealtor3072 As a user of sony zv1 for more than one year, I do admit that I really wasted a lot of time on color grading videos, but it turns out to be wasted footage most of the time.
Did they get rid of the HFR? So they took away some features but added features that would’ve made the ZV-1 better? 🤦🏽♂️ I guess I’ll still keep my ZV-1 and wait for a ZV-2
Stabilization, Size, Quick access modes, 240 frames at 1080, Water Proof, Genius Mounting System, Better sound?, feels solid, the sony feels like it'll shatter if you drop it. And price, almost half.
Do you think the auto focus is good for someone who want to video stream building model kits? I'd like to have an overhead view where i can also pick up small pieces and bring it closer to lens so viewers can see the details on the pieces. Would this camera be good choice?
yes, this camera would be a great choice for what you want to use it for. The camera has fast and intelligent autofocus, and it is easy for plug and play streaming with a USB-C 3.0 cable.
Is it just me, or does this camera have no significant zoom capability? I had a compact Canon PowerShot that had a x40 zoom. I love everything else about this camera but if I can't get a decent zoom, it's essentially useless to me. Does anyone have any comments/suggestions?
Love that Sony got this out in time for Jake to capture the Bethesda Terrace it it’s regaled splendor. (The NYC parks department has to shutdown the water fountains for the Autumnal/Winter season any day now! Still, glad I purchased the Z 30 from B&H last month. Is there really a bad choice as long as you guys are there for us?
Thank you. 👍 How is it compared to iPhone 14 Pro? I am deciding either buy iPhone 14 Pro for video shooting or keep my current iPhone and get such an entry level camera if it gives better or same quality.
I would 100% recommend getting the iPhone 14 Pro over the Sony ZV-1F. I just bought the iPhone 14 Pro, and as someone who prefers to use DSLRs and mirrorless cameras, I am really impressed with the camera on this smartphone! It's better than the ZV-1F in every way. Better image quality, dynamic range, color, autofocus, stabilization, audio, and zoom range. That said, if you really want to get an entry level mirrorless camera, I would get the Sony ZV-E10 because it's an interchangeable lens camera that accepts Sony E Mount lenses. This would expand your options and a give you a real upgrade path since any lenses you buy for the ZV-E10 will work with any other Sony E Mount camera. The only downside is that the extreme crop with stabilization engaged makes it unusable for vlogging. If vlogging is your main priority, then I'd recommend the Go Pro 11 or DJI Osmo Action 3 over any Sony ZV series camera because the field of view and stabilization are much better. But if you have have the money and value versatility, then get the iPhone 14 Pro. Just make sure you get as much storage as you can afford. No less than 256GB.
Does this camera have a recording limit like most cameras? If yes, then I’d rather stick with my IPhone since I can record till my battery dies aka for hours 😕. That cut off time is too annoying to deal with 😂
Did they get ride of the built-in ND filter? Ashame footage isn't 10 bit, like can be done on DJI Mini 3 or Go Pro 11. Both small camera systems but with different purpose Your footage looks jerky. - was active stabilisation used? - can it be stabilised in Catalyst Browse?
Why Sony removed from this new model the effective stabilization of the Zv-1 and why it removed phase detection, opting only for contrast detection, and finally, why Sony betting on a 20mm fixed lens, got worse your aperture, from f/1.8 that the Zv-1 had to f/2 this Zv-1 F ? Why didn't they set it to an aperture of f/1.4 since it's now a fixed focal length?
I love B&H Photo. I have acquired some very good deals there. This camera would be perfect for what I need a little more pricey than I'd like but they will let you bring this into a concert. It doesn't look like a big expensive camera. But I bet I can get some really good pictures and video with it. What I'm wondering is are there sound controls? Most cameras can't take it if the music is so loud most Canon cameras you can turn up or down the sound. Can you do that with this camera?
What I saw I did not like! The stabe was terrible, no dynamic range, no raw shooting, no built in ND filters. Focus hunting season! I buy it for $100.00....What is it $499.00 One can imagine the rolling shutter! The jello effect was amazing, can you turn it off? The audio sounded like a phone call 10 years ago!
Somehow that demo footage leaves me not impressed at all... Dynamic range and color science look horrible, almost like a DJI Osmo Action 1 - super cheap look. Stabilization is just as bad as with other Sony cameras and basically unusable, the audio sounds flat and digital, very cheap too. Most current mobiles will give you better results. What is wrong with this cam... it should deliver so much more... If you had done these shots even with a Gopro 9 and nailed the exposure with the right ND filter, the result in audio, video and stabilization would have been a lot better... and they just launched a Hero 11... This leaves me heavily confused...
Original zv1 lens is not fixed, it's 24 70 if I recall correctly, this is the worst camera sony ever made, one fixed lens 20mm? And also it's not much better of new phones? Did sony drop asid?
"This fixed lens will help expand users' creative power" Jesus, dude! Don't just read the copy from the marketing materials. You sound like a dope. How does moving from a zoom lens to a fixed focal length expand creative power? How does this compete with the smart phones with multiple focal length cameras that the camera is looking to replace?
Time to ditch this for a cellphone. Honestly cellphones will have better low light, bokeh, continuous focus, dynamic range, integration with apps, stablization, easy of use. No need to buy this extra thing. Time to upgrade to a phone.
Honestly, I find this Sony product disgusting. once again, they are playing with consumers, presenting them with expensive products that, compared to today's smartphones and iphones, lose ground and the battle for those. For example, with my smartphone Samsung Galaxy A71 I can take a quick photo, through the bars of a small window into a dark space and the photo came out very well. With a camera, whatever it is, I waste a lot more time. First, she doesn't fit through the bars of a small window. Second, I take the time to set the maximum aperture possible, increase the iso by one and finally lower the shutter speed to be able to take a photo, more or less equivalent to the one I take with my Samsung Galaxy A71. Sony, be ashamed of deceiving consumers.
Stabilization could use some improvements
Please note, this camera does not do 4k 60fps. The B&H website lists that incorrectly.
