Watching from Japan. Living very close to Suzuka. So if this bike was imported as a JDM, you are such a lucky person. Even in Japan many many years never seen such nice and almost original condition of NS.
That sound brings back happy memories. I had a KTM Comet Cross producing an arm stretching 3 BHP followed by a Suzuki GT250m and my mates all had RD's and KH 250's. You would think they would be able to bring back two strokes and with today's technology meet modern emission targets. I'm sure there would be a huge market for such bikes. Thanks for the video Mark.
Always lovely to see and hear a two-stroke! Had an RD80LC & 125LC back in the day. Great fun. Loved the engine sound and exhaust smell. The 125 seized on me eventually screaming in 3rd gear at probably about 41 mph. No drama thankfully. It just stopped. Rebuild was fairly cheap I think. Thanks for the video!
Around the same time I had the 1983 Suzuki RG250. All alloy frame and it was a terrific bike. Totally reliable and heaps of fun to ride. I still have an RGV in the garage but the original RG250 was a much more comfortable ride. My RG250 was my also my ride to work bike. A restored one brings a very good price these days….. Great to see you doing reviews on such bikes, Mark.
You can almost feel the joy coming out of the screen. Looks like a great bike, and like lots of others it makes me want another 2 stroke. Fabulous review.
Great fun Mark!! In the '70s I had a Suzuki T500 2 stroke twin and a GT750B water cooled triple. The cackle of a 2 stroke on the over run still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!!! Superb
Awesome review Mark. Nostalgia is a powerful drug. I much prefer the dials to the TFT screens of nowadays. Speed, revs & temp. That’s all you need. KR1S was my favourite.
Brilliant, once again, Mark. This bought back a lot of memories for me. I had the big brother to this bike back in 1986, the NS400R in the Rothman's scheme. If ever there was a bike that made you feel you were Freddy Spencer, this was it. That V3 engine was fantastic. Honda was, of course, well known for their four-strokes, but in these NS's, it showed Honda were just as capable making amazing two-strokes, too. Keep 'em coming, Mark.👍
I own the same model, albeit in Rothmans Colours, and it's nice to see a proper review. Not much on the NS250R around, as they were only around for a short time. Thanks for posting this up.
My 2 strokes I owned in order FS1E, Suzuki hustler 250,Gt380, T500. All bloody fantastic. The T500 would stay and overtake most other bikes was 50bhp the same as honda 750/4 but as a stroker revved like a frenzy
I remember salivating over a ca. 1994 TZR 250 when we were 16 and riding Honda Cubs. Better yet there was the SP(?) version, all white and even racier. The most fun ever was being let loose on a TDR 250 - young guy, bald rear tire and the thing didn't go straight anywhere! I am still riding a 2 stroke enduro bike so I kinda get my fix. Some major manufacturers still have street legal 2 strokes. KTM group, Yamaha via Fantic and smaller ones such as Sherco, TM and Beta. Come on, stick 2 300 cc engines together, and market a supermoto / sports bike with 80 hp and 150 kg. They will pass emissions - all enduro bikes come with catalysts that last about 10 minutes before they get tossed in the recycle bin!😉 A new RD, half fairing, parallel 2 stroke with 70 hp and featherweight, i"ll have 2 thank you!
I absolutely love 2 strokes, the sound, the smell, just awesome. I had a few, many years ago, Kawasaki triples Yamaha RD's, I think my fave was the RD350 F2 YPVS, fast and economical, plus the engines lasted well being water cooled, great video Mark, I'd loved to have seen the grin on your face!! 😁
Ahhh the old 2 stroke, what ace memories of my youth! I had the 400r in HRC colours. Loved that bike but had to sell it as I couldn't afford the petrol bill commuting to work and back at 19 yrs old. 😪 wish I had kept it!
lovely bike , din,t they do a 400 as well . Takes me back a few years i must say . you need to do a few more classic bike reviews , some gems out there . Try the rg500 , i had one amazing in their time .
What a lovely little bike Mark, thanks so much for bringing us this review of a true classic. Honda were very late to the two stroke party having steadfastly refused to entertain such a "crude" idea 😂. But then, they gave us this and it was indeed spectacular. A shame it came just as the popularity of the quarter litre began to dwindle. You can bet that anyone of a certain age following in your wake (even a couple of miles behind) would know what was ahead of them and tingles of nostalgia would accompany the unmistakable olfactory bouquet the NSR was leaving in it's wake 😊
Now that’s a trip down memory lane, I rode many air cooled two strokes progressing to a Kawasaki KR1-S early 1990s. I’m sure it had around 60hp which was manic to say the least albeit horrendous fuel consumption and an appetite for expensive two stroke oil. Happy days and maximum grin factor - thanks Mark 👍
I had a Suzuki X7 would love to know if it would still feel exciting . Why is it the 125’s,250’s,500 ‘s from then are miles quicker than todays bikes ?
Absolutely amazing. My first bike was an RD125. I regularly ride my bikes on the roads you featured..the 250 handled them fine. Was this from a collector of bikes or at a dealers ?
I had a Suzuki GT185 2stoke twin was a great fun bike if pushed the frame would flex.on a trip to Wales no the motorway the bike lost power when I got home on one cylinder I removed the cylinder head a discovered one piston had a hole and the over had pre-ignition damage timing must have been incorrect or incorrect spark plugs the dealer advised I was still using the running in spark plugs, fitted new pistons and rings the bike was fine.had two sets of contact points and I must have set up incorrectly.
Hi you don't buy 2 stroke ....you buy 2 stroke oil anywhere....and it mixes with standard petrol pump fuel ....2 stroke is the type of engine Best wishes mark
Bought my NS 400 in 1985, most reliable Honda of the era as all the 4 strokes suffered with Hondas chocolate camchain tensioners! Great review Mark as always, thank you👍👍👍👍
Takes me back to my youth. Everyone should ride a 2 stroke once in their lifetime
More than once.First time is a shock.
Love the sound and smell of the 2 stroke would love to see more of them on the road again
Those were the days, I had a RD350LC wish I had it now ££££££, Nice review again Mark

That Japanese speed warning takes a 51 yo right back to 1989 🥰

Cool taking out older bikes. Sometimes I wonder if we really need all the new stuff.
Ahhh back to the days of my rd125, then 350 later. I wish i was back there. Thanks for this moment of escapism 🙏

Great to see you doing reviews on such bikes, Mark.
This was new when I was 15 and remember lusting after bikes like this
Very very cool. I had an RGV250 back in the day & there's nothing quite like the rush of a two-stroke powervalve kicking in like a nitrous button lol.
You can almost feel the joy coming out of the screen. Looks like a great bike, and like lots of others it makes me want another 2 stroke. Fabulous review.
Many thanks ....I'm thinking about one too cheers mark
Great fun Mark!! In the '70s I had a Suzuki T500 2 stroke twin and a GT750B water cooled triple. The cackle of a 2 stroke on the over run still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!!! Superb
Yes those gt750 s looked great 👍
I've never been a fan of two strokes Mark (and I tried a few in my now distant youth) but that was a great video to watch. Loved your enthusiasm!
Thanks Keith glad you enjoyed it
Cheers mark

Cheers
Wonderful to see you having so much fun Mark.

Haha yes the ypvs f2 was the one I had in 1987
Great fun 😄
Mine was an '87 too, although I bought it in 1993 with a fresh engine rebuild.
Lovely bike, nearly bought one a few years ago but decided to look for a Yam rd instead out of familiarity. Nice review of an older bike
I had a Japanese grey import Honda 400cc CB1 in line 4 and what a bike that was. A real pocket rocket.
Great video , everyone just loves a 2stroke , hopefully see some others in future.
Had a Suzuki T500 twin. Went well, hard to stop with the drum brakes!
Love it, the dials, the switch gear, the noise 👌
Thanks Andy .... great isn't it....love these 2 strokes:)
Great to see you reviewing older bikes Mark.. love these and RDs, KR1 etc remember them well 😊 ❤ awesome dude.. Pete
Thanks Pete yes a great era .... had the 350 ypvs myself
Cheers mark
Absolutely fantastic, miss the strokers!
Great Video Mark, nice to see something different!
Ahhh the old 2 stroke, what ace memories of my youth! I had the 400r in HRC colours. Loved that bike but had to sell it as I couldn't afford the petrol bill commuting to work and back at 19 yrs old. 😪 wish I had kept it!
How much power did it make compared to the RG500.
lovely bike , din,t they do a 400 as well .

Try the rg500 , i had one amazing in their time .
Yes the ns400 was the one we had in the UK
Mate I still have one in my garage. Teleport to 18, you are right
My first bike was a 1972 Suzuki T250 Hustler. Turned it into a cafe racer in 1975. (My thumbnail 😉🏍️👍)
My first 250 too and was faster than most others

Thanks Philip ....I had the 350 ypvs but really wanted the rgv250
My mate had the rg,500 and got to ride that alot!
Cheers mark

Yes the kr1 s was one that I always wanted but I had the 350 ypvs
Cheers mark
I had a Suzuki X7 would love to know if it would still feel exciting . Why is it the 125’s,250’s,500 ‘s from then are miles quicker than todays bikes ?
Ride it like you're at the TT, Mark! I love a classic stinkwheel.
Absolutely amazing. My first bike was an RD125. I regularly ride my bikes on the roads you featured..the 250 handled them fine. Was this from a collector of bikes or at a dealers ?
It's a friend's bike ,:)
Really enjoyed that Mark. Reminded me of my Rd400e
I wish i still had my 1976 Suzuki GT750 A
I had a Suzuki GT185 2stoke twin was a great fun bike if pushed the frame would flex.on a trip to Wales no the motorway the bike lost power when I got home on one cylinder I removed the cylinder head a discovered one piston had a hole and the over had pre-ignition damage timing must have been incorrect or incorrect spark plugs the dealer advised I was still using the running in spark plugs, fitted new pistons and rings the bike was fine.had two sets of contact points and I must have set up incorrectly.
No modes, quick shifters or TFTs however did we manage? 😄
Great video! What a fantastic fun bike!
Wow! Stunning machines…
Try and get a ride on a TDR 250 Mark!
Great video, sounds fantastic!
Yes now that was an interesting combination... adventure style 2 stroke great bike
Cheers mark
The sound is incredible, honda engineering. Only wish I could smell it 😁😂. Fabulous Mark xx
Thanks Martine 😁 x
Great ride on a lovely classic 2 stroke but will probably need an engine rebuild every few hundred miles. What was the red light that kept coming on?
That's a jap import thing that I was going over 50 mph lol 😂
More 2 stroke reviews please Mark ... Makes me wish I didnt sell my 1991 RGV250 ... Great memories 👌👍
Ahh the rgv250 is the one I always wanted...there are still some available now but big £££
Cheers mark
Goodness me memories 😊
So many bikes from this era simply ooze character...
That’s awesome Mark. What a sound!
What is the red light on the dash? (Asking as I’ve never ridden a 2 stroke)
It's a jap import thing.... telling me I've gone over 50 mph lol 😂
@@markpulling12 oh wow! Haha that’s funny. I didn’t realise that existed on motorcycles
I'll be intrested to see your thoughts on the ZX4R if you can snag one for a ride.
Yes hopefully Bournemouth Kawasaki will get a demo at some point
Cheers mark
The good ol’ days huh? Never forget the the fumes that waft through the air after the rider has long passed..
Don't think 250cc are as common as they use to be, but in 80's you pick up a new one for 2k.
こんばんは、私もNS250R持ってます!!
昨日もコイツでラーメン食べに峠を攻めて来ましたよ〜
The sports bike I remember from that time is the KR-1. A bit beyond a plodder like me though really.
Oh yes the kr1 s was fast
130 mph !!
@@markpulling12 Just reading 130mph makes me feel dizzy..................
Was the speed warning light basically a shift light?
No in Japan in the ,80s or so anything over 50 mph ...the warning light is on ...so I guess that is ,/was their speed limit
Cheers mark
Awesome 👍👍
Which petrol station sells two stroke.
⛽🤔🤔🤔
Hi you don't buy 2 stroke ....you buy 2 stroke oil anywhere....and it mixes with standard petrol pump fuel ....2 stroke is the type of engine
Best wishes mark
@@markpulling12 Hi Mark I'm sure I can remember my brother having to go to certain petrol stations in the 80's with his Kawasaki AR80.
Amazing all those years back how I wouldnt go near a four stroke. These days I wouldnt touch a two stroke. Bizarre
Classic 2stroke
Lovely, lovely!
😂gotta love a 2 stroke , great video
To bad Honda don't use this colour scheme on the CBR500R 😞
Wow…..memories. Thanks for that. Nothing better than a little stinkwheel. 😀
Proper motorbike engine
Yes the sound and the smell ...just brilliant :)
Fun when young but engine longevity abysmal along with fuel costing £6.80 Gallon not for me.
Bought my NS 400 in 1985, most reliable Honda of the era as all the 4 strokes suffered with Hondas chocolate camchain tensioners!
Great review Mark as always, thank you👍👍👍👍
Thanks Steve always wanted the ns400 :)
まだ安く買える250ccの2スト!!
Nothing like that will ever be manufactured again.
Duuuude..! Totally jealous. I'm 56 this year, so 80s and 90s bikes are my bread and butter. Love the strokers... Had a TZR250 3 MA back in the day.
Yes my mate had the tzr ... fantastic powerband on that one
Cheers mark
whaaaaaaaaaaaat. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Now you're talking😁😁😁😁
Looks very '80s.
There was a key card version available. The motorcycle is aesthetically pleasing, but its fuel efficiency is lacking.
