I adore your tempo...AND expressiveness. The temptation to SPEED race thru this piece seems to happen often. You bring emotion and sanity to the performance and MUSIC Lives thru you! Thank you
❤❤❤Very lovely! Every note/pitch/tone is well thought of in all the parts without rushing. Rubato was effective & well placed it and certainly heightened the expression & emotion.
Bravo for playing this so that the emotion is showcased! People don't realize slower can be both grander and more intimate. And if you explore pianissimos, there is a whole magic, enchanted garden of mystery and emotion. Throw in rubato and dynamics and you have the ingredients for an epic performance that will bring tears to some eyes.
Would you be so kind to explain your thoughts on slowing down the tempo and using the pedal more than the “common” recordings? Many pianists play the accompaniment more staccato and with less pedal and faster. I love your version, in my opinion it is the best,! Thank you
Cordialement
Bravissima. The best version I heard until now. Many famous players sacrifice the melody for the agility and virtuosity playing this song very fast. This version for me shows the real beauty of the melody line and you can "sing " it. Thanks!
Goosebump every single time I hear this. You're using a lot of rubato, and I think it's great, it's like slowing down time to let the brain process all these emotions
I subscribe too because I don't want to miss any of your interpretations. What strikes me here is a very personal interpretation of this famous romance which, far from denaturing it, gives it a weight, a gravity that makes it almost a little drama. We are obliged by listening to you to cease all activity and give you our full attention. Wonderful.
Very well articulated, your comment. 5 years later, just one month ago, I discovered the wonderful and very beautiful interpretations off various Scarlatti sonatas by Veronika and immediately I was deeply impressed and flabbergasted by her magnificent, personal, romantic sound. I also subscribed after hearing the first piece. This incredibly beautiful music is very addictive!!
@@janwillemheijbroek9107 Thank you for your kind appreciation of my comment. Have you listened to her interpretation of the "Variations sérieuses" op. 54? ua-cam.com/video/Rpaow3dUD20/v-deo.html . Truly outstanding! I also left a comment in french. Here is the translation: "Superlative interpretation - one of the most remarkable we can hear. Solid and rigorous playing of the pianist who faces with insolent confidence all the difficulties of these admirable variations, one of the major cycles of variations. Can I express a wish? I would love to hear his interpretation of César Cui's charming but very difficult study CAUSERIE. " Do you know David Hurwitz, one of the finest music critics on the Web? @@esprit-critique Thank you very much for your suggestion of the "Variations Sérieuses"! I have listenened to it and again I was flabbergasted by Veronika's qualities. This is a technically very demanding piece, but her technical level is outstanding. She really attacks the most difficult parts with a lot of greediness and plays them flawlessly and brilliantly. On top of that she is the ultimate poet, very romantic and the ultimate communicator of the composer's intentions and ideas. Like Sviatoslav Richter, who I endless admire, also was! At least this is what I think and feel if I hear Veronika Kuzmina playing the piano. I really hope more and more people are going to discover her outstanding performances on UA-cam.
At times, yes, although one particular part has the right hand playing in thirds and it is difficult for me, especially jumping down immediately after this passage. Some parts are easier than others. The main difficulty for me is tone production. I try to pay strict attention to dynamics because Mendelssohn was precise about when to crescendo and descrescendo. I prefer to play with less rubato (she's far better at piano than I am; I'm an amateur), and I like it better when it is played more literally, and a bit faster, but that's just my taste.

Very mature and precise! I love it, this is my fav interpretation I've heard so far. Also the piano sounds amaizing.
Thank you very much!
Interprétation très élégante et émouvante ❤👏❤👏❤👏 MERCI 🙏🕯️🎶
Beautiful! Everyone else plays this too fast, and thus they dont bring out the lyrical quality and the emotion. I play this just a bit slower. BRAVO!!
