- I've got a few tricks.
UPDATE: This was fixed in the February 7, 2023 patch (version 2.3.0.0.109691). It was fixed by canceling the teleport if the target entity stops existing, meaning swift step will go on cooldown but you will not move.

Where is the world origin on the world?
@@Kayther33 The coordinates of 0 0 0 land you in the Atlantic sea, west of central Africa basically so she's probably a pro swimmer as well!

Teleportation is inherently dangerous. Kiriko understood the risks when she signed up.

Apparently this can also happen to Symmetra if her TP is destroyed as soon as she teleports in it.
yep, though I have not been able to brute force/reproduce it using vanilla game settings since this was discovered in november. seems to occur under very specific conditions.

if it happens with the timed destruction aswell, you could have the entire team on the push map origin in the beginning of the round technically, not that I would encourage such behaviour...

to expand on 1:07, waiting to retrieve the destination coordinates has some purpose.
a useful sequence when playing kiriko is to swift step to a critical teammate, look down, and immediately use suzu. if the teleport destination was determined on the button press rather than ~0.2 seconds later, you could end up at an outdated position outside of suzu range -- e.g. using swift step on a fast-moving teammate like a charging reinhardt.
I don't know if this factored into the design (or if this hypothetical situation happens frequently enough to justify this) but it's worth noting.
If they wanted to keep that functionality and fix this bug they could have it mark a second set of coordinates on cast that are only used as a fallback if the more recent ones don't exist, right?
@@cheggf just check if the teleport target is still valid (aka still exists) and if not cancel the skill
I guess it's also keep confusion low. a player could move ALOT in those ,2 seconds and ending up nowhere near who you've teleported to could be disorienting.
@@nemozinioux I would think that casting a valid skill and going through the entire animation should teleport you, but I'm not sure what all causes the skill to fail. If it's only from switching heroes it wouldn't matter either way.

- Player presses the key, triggers the skill
- The skill saves in a variable whose teammate's character the player was aiming
- THEN it waits 0.2 seconds
- After the .2 seconds passed, the game takes the teammates character that was saved, takes it's coordinates and teleports to it.
What breaks it is that between the moment when the character is saved and the moment when the game looks for it's position, the character changes, aka does not exist anymore, so the game cannot find where it is and decides to use 0;0;0 as the place to teleport to instead
What I said is that by simply checking once the .2 seconds passed if the character that was saved still exists or not BEFORE taking it's position and cancelling the tp if it doesn't exist anymore would solve the problem
That Sombra teleport shenanigan can actually be kinda useful if you know how to time it
The time window is so small it's pretty much impossible to do it with any consistency
@@akseli8314 more execution focused players in other genres have been known to hit timing windows that small or smaller with reasonable amounts of consistency, even under stress. taunt jet upper for example requires you to hit three frame-perfect inputs in a row, and some people can still do it semi-consistently.
the real issue is the amount of time you need to dedicate to learning this for such a niche use case.

Fantastic video as always. I think it’s worth mentioning though that the world origin either changed or is more relevant on Rialto now that it has unused PVE areas. Being sent to the world origin on that map now puts you in the PVE area left of the first payload turn
yes, that is noteworthy. it is still out of bounds, but now you will survive the trip!

Honestly quite strange that checking for this kind of bug isn't just a regular entry on the checklist for heroes that can teleport..

A pretty cool and also kinda practical way to use this bug is to teleport to a Dva while she's demeching (since it deletes the mech dva entity, it works the same way as the interaction with people switching heroes.) You can maybe use it to escape if you have no other options, and if the origin isn't off the map lmao
Elaborating on the topic of world orgin outside of OW. I played pokémon SV recently (i honestly really enjoyed it), and i belive the pokéball models are often stored at 0,0,0 / world orgin when not used. Certain rooms have some kind of pokéball slightly peakig above the ground at times, often either in the middle of the room or at the only entrance to said room.
I will remark, i didn't find the game as buggy as many others have said

I saw literaly one graphical glitch. I have about 8 level 90 pokemon right now. Wugtrio up their trainer's skirt was the glitch.
I’ve seen those Pokèball’s on the floor before in Violet, and fell through the hill once. That was fun. 😅
it's possible they factored in the default position of 0,0,0 expecting some bugs to occur with regards to that so they put it out of bounds to make such exploits as useless as possible.
That or during the pre alpha phase of their maps what is now the origin was in bounds but the layout changed making the origin no longer be part of the play area. There is no real need for the origin of the map to be in the exact center, unless your engine has certain size limitations and you're making the biggest map ever. I did some unremarkable mapping back in the UT99 days using Unreal Ed 2.0 and in that engine you couldn't build geometry past a certain point, but there is nothing stopping you from putting the entire map in one corner as far away from the origin as possible. But there is also no reason to avoid it. It's just the default starting point.
@@blackm4niac I'm only talking about inside descreete rooms isnide builings. I expect the 0,0,0 in the overworld to be in an inaccessible or just unknown place.

Seems like the only time the exploit actually grants an advantage is on Esperanca, allowing you to instantly get to the bot and start moving it as soon as the game starts
the bot is locked for the first 30 seconds of the match, similar to king of the hill -- but you would definitely surprise the enemy team.
The bot hasn't unlocked itself yet though, that happens 30 seconds after the game starts. So it's only really useful to get to a better/more aggressive position for the first fight.

@@fukeiclozer2614 And I just saw a video from Reddit to see someone do this glitch, right as the match started. Kiriko teleported to the center of the map, get one early kill off the enemy team, then tp'd back to her team so they engage the fight 5v4

I find that quite interesting.
Back when Junkertown got released, I accidentally found out that if you throw a Junkrat mine on the TV antennas around first point, the mines would sometimes teleport themselfs into that 0,0,0 spot and stay there. Had alot of fun experimenting with that tech before it was eventually patched out.

Pretty sure this happened to me today. Was playing Kiriko on Nepal, Village, and just as the round ended I teleported to our Echo who was inside one of the buildings and as the end of game screen came on where it goes into slow motion, I was falling under the map

Very situational but that point origin in esperanca is actually useful and critical especially in overtime and you can do it when you and a teammate got picked off and you need to be in the team fight as soon as possible

Funny thing is because of a fix for a glitch with mei it is impossible to tp to the map origin on New queen street and colosseo, sence you end up in a place where you are within a wall. And btw. if you do it just right you can actually survive the tp on Parisio and stay oob. On Eichenwalde you can do something simular by climbing right after the tp. This even allowes you to stay outside the spawn room if you hugg the spawn door. Also this glitch can be used to escape TDM maps if you tp to a duplicating echo, since many of the 000 coordinates are outside of the tdm boundaries.

I had a game as Sombra where this happened, the Kiriko was so confused she went from one side of the map to the other in seconds, I went to pick her up from the spawn and immediately translocated bringing her to the enemy backline, but everything ended well, we spawncamped a Ana 4 times until their DPS came to help her.

If you trade 2 players each in a team fight, this could allow kiriko to tp to center on push maps making it 4v5. Essentially revere mercy revive.
Or even at the start and kiriko can wait for someone around a corner and 2 tap them lol.

a way this could be abused in maps like espranca is if the whole teams killed near the end, kiriko could get to the robot to stall time much faster (assuming the robot isnt close to the kirikos spawn) and could also be used to disorient the enemy team
For your next video you have to show off the CP map dragon and mercy glitch. It’s on UA-cam. It is a visual glitch that makes you have a dragon with you( on genji) or have a staff/gun hybrid (on mercy). It can also allow you to ult on reaper and pharah.
The Push map Esperansa (how ever you spell it) looks like it could be a good roll out tech
