    Thanks for the great video. I wonder if it can work with 2 mics and a keyboard stereo inputs well? I'm a little bit worried about the Ch1 mic quality because I don't play guitar. And also, is there a latency problem like rodecaster pro ii?

    I'd the talk back feature and the live session recording feature in the 5 as well?

    Just got mine, and trying to set it up on my PC with the app, and first thing got prompted to update the firmware to use the pc app... seems to have worked 😅 getting sound from my phone in over Bluetooth, so hoping withon the hour i will be able to hear my guitar (ch1 front jack), sm57 (micing bass amp) and 58 (voice)... wish me luck!

    not sure why you're having issue starting up the companion app. never had the issue with mine. maybe like the rodecaster pro, this works more stable with mac? switched from rodecaster pro 2 to gigcaster 8 because as a singer, the reverb is far superior. i don't understand why rode can't make their reverb with stereo image like in gigcaster. how hard can it be considering how great rodecaster pro 2 is?

    How to compare the functions in this to the Boss VE - 22?
    as a singer and voice-over actor.. I am not sure what to choose now in 2024?
    I got the AUdient ID 14 Mill...
    But the Boss products seem really interesting...
    Would I be Better off to keep my Audient and add the Boss VE - 22?
    or am I better off selling the Audient and getting this Gigacaster you present here?
    I am a really low-tech-highly-creative kind of person. I like things to work here and now and get it out on the World Wide Web!
    thanks for any great advice on how to best compare these products...

    Thanks-We enjoyed your take on the 5;sadly hilarious watching your "cons" reactions. We been there! These units are dream mixers for solo/duo rigs and half-arse nightmares as podcasters. Actually,not so bad-- just spend a few hrs learning the USB routing and it pays off. We prefer our Zoom L-8 as a podcast unit but it can't compete with the BOSS vocal and guitar effects inside our GC5. We love it set it up as a recording interface for DAW's,too. Add a GFAC pedal and wow,that's amazing fun. So far,a no-regret investment.

      Hi, do guys use this for live gigs? It would be great to hear some feedback on how it performs, as I'm a solo guitarist/singer in small venues - I'm not a streamer

      @@GAZBLIN Yes,exactly that...we use a GFAC switch pedal,too. Amazing kit! We use Boss stuff...the GT-1...Katana II heads. The Gigcaster 5 bridges between it all. Cheers
      PS-Edit: This little mixer is perfect for solo artist. We set up a vocal channel,a guitar channel, the stereo L/R input get's a sub-mixer or synth workstation,in addition to our backing tracks or DJ software playing through the mixer. It took a whole minute to set up,even though the menu is packed with easy to use good-stuff,there is a Maserati under the hood.

    I am minimizing my effects pedalboard setup. Thinking about buying this thing and also use it as an audio interface. Could you explain a bit in detail why this wouldn't be good to be used as an audio interface?

    Well, I miss some obvious talking points and I fear, there are reasons you left them out. Loke is there 48V phantom power? How is the noise floor? How about latency in monitoring? Can it drve high Ohm headphones? and, can I record from my headset microphone?

    • @DarkCornerStudios
      @DarkCornerStudios  Рік тому

      Of course there is phantom.
      The lack of it would of course be brought up.
      I actually SAY in the video that there are NO specs shared on this thing.
      This has separate power supply...and is NOT usb powered...so yes..."high ohm" headphones can be pushed.
      And I have no idea if your headset microphone can be used.
      That is a niche piece of info...

    • @HarmonicaTool
      @HarmonicaTool Рік тому

      @DarkCornerStudios Thank you for the fast response. I thought from another video that the thing could be USB powered alternatively. While obviously the headphone thing is niche I had hoped for a subjective impression on preamp noise. Thank you for presenting this unit.

    Have to say, I'm kind of surprised with your experience with the unit itself. I picked up the GCS-8 to replace a defective Rodecaster Duo, and I was able to do the bulk of the configuration directly on the unit. Is it "easy"? No. There's a ton of learning to do, but I wasn't able to see anything that was explicitly locked behind the app.
    That being said, I completely agree on the application front. For such a small application, it is very slow and very resource heavy. I've got a beefy rig and it still crushes resources for some reason.

    • @DarkCornerStudios
      @DarkCornerStudios  Рік тому +1

      I didnt mean to insinuate that it is "locked" behind the app, but the app DOES make using the thing much easier, and does kind of lock you to a computer.

    • @ndguardian
      @ndguardian Рік тому

      @@DarkCornerStudios no worries! Had me wondering if the GCS-5 had even fewer features than I thought, which wouldn't be surprising since even SD card recording is limited to the GCS-8, but glad you clarified.
      As much as I dislike the app's performance, yeah it definitely does make things easier.

    This is the most negative revue I’ve watched, I’ve watched them all 😂. I’m wondering if you had a bad unit? 48k is good enough for recording. Broadcasting media is 48k. The bit depth is 32 bit floating point so miles of headroom. It’s been a while since I looked at the manual but I’m sure the noise levels are in it. I could be wrong, I drink a lot of tea. JohnPaul Music UK seems to love it as do Andertons, Sweeteater, Guitar Guitar etc…??

    There is one HUGE problem with this product. Touchscreen. Otherwise they're a really great product. But...there HAS to be a dedicated knob to control a selected screen choice. The rodecaster has it...and anyone who has ever used this kind of gear in a real world setting knows touchscreen just SUCKS! You simply CANNOT get the control that is necessary. FIX IT!
