Parinda is surely one of the finest films ever made in India. It's a masterpiece of Indian Cinema, which should not be only limited to be given a cult classic status, but it deserves much more than that, bcoz of absolutely magical direction, brilliant screenplay, perfect editing, superb cinematography,hard-hitting dialogues with power-packed performances, and the fact which is most striking is immaculate sound effect which was something new for the movies made in that era, and which actually started a trend to give the movie a seriously realistic effect. So,basically Parinda was a complete package and probably one of the first movies which gave equal weightage to both the commercial and parallel aspect of cinema.
You probably dont care at all but does anyone know of a method to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
All are living legends for me, I would love to go and watch these guys talk for hours. Anurag is so inquisitive, just like a child, learning from a teacher, that's the reason he's such a great film maker.
Mr. Nana Patekar is a beyond personality !! Good he didn't come !! He doesn't belong here !! God bless you sir . . You are an inspiration to us . . Not just as an artiste , but as human being as well . . Thank you for being there . . Love . .
I wish this was longer! So entertaining, and so much to learn! Wish Jackie could speak more on the last scene of "Parinda". But I guess things like great acting cannot be explained, or analyzed! It happens in the moment. Jackie Shroff was so powerful in the climax.
So heart warming listening to these stories and incidents from the past.. I love this approach where it's informal and a chatting session than the usual 'rapid fire' or 'never have I ever' type interviews.. Well done team!
Amazing movie... I remember it's all dialogues. Still today.... This movie always helps me when I am upset and need the escape..... Jackie dada has been my love ever since.
Parinda yet again :) Nana Patekar and Madhuri Dixit are missed. The film was hard hitting..emotionally raw. I believe Jackie Shroff won a firmware for his role. :)
Firmware is programming that's written to the read-only memory (ROM) of a computing device. Firmware, which is added at the time of manufacturing, is used to run user programs on the device.
Its amazing that you have not just stuck to reviewing films and have actually gone a step further. I love movies and would watch any discussion based on the Hindi movies,so this seems to be a very apt channel for me :) Keep the videos coming!
This movie I have seen in my colleague days after bunk lecter with friends and at after we discussed only that last scene of Madhuri and Anil because we were first time seen such scene, But after some time when I was alone then realising the impact of every performance not only from actor but also form technician sound direction pace of movie everything... Hats of you Vinod sir. Great work done.
Oos zamane Mai chhup k films dekhta tha.... jab Maine ye film dekha meri hosh udd gayi thi.... what a fantabulously well made movie it was.... main hamesha se Vidhu ji ka fan raha hu..... aap se aur bhi great movies ki khwahishgaan hu. God bless you always Sir ❤
I just want to say the movie - PARINDA uff kya bolu it's a one and only movie of BOLLYWOOD aisa picture aur nahi ban sakta yaar ek ek scene , music background music uff , character of two brothers , feeling of both the brothers pretending - caring -loving aggressive - mind blowing every dialogue of both the brothers uff Jacky was amazing in the role elder brother n anil was fantastic in younger brother , when Jacky says laake de mera bachpan screaming n shouting omg what a scene it's a true feelings which I feel when I was fighting with my brother . I salute you Mr. Vinod n all ur team 🙏
I loved Vinod ji's journey and it's so crazy and funny. Jackie dada is really underated. Anil we all love. But Jackie dada is something else. Lots of love to Vidhu ji and all on this show. 🎉❤ From A continuous film student.
This is a awesome interview to watch and to hear about wonderful behind stories of wonderful movies from these awesome actors and a artistic director, which are made and portrayed by them and they share their experience.
Anupama, I miss your weekly videos! With Front row, there was one every friday, but now there are barely any uploads... why ? I dont live in India so your channel is my sole touch with Bollywood movies right now. Also thanks for including Jackie Shroff in this interview, he is a class act. BTW I have not watched Parinda (was not born then) but I realllly do want to watch it now!
Parinda is the kind of movie you would believe its made in today's day and age and its very hard to fathom that it was a 1989 film. More than the performances it was the cinematography and background score that made the film stand out.
Actual Jackie speaks very good English ! But because he has seen it all he doesn’t bother to pretend and be a classy guy ! But he must be a real gentleman!
Bhai aisi movies abb kyu nhi aati I miss tht 90s brotherhood.. The direction and characterization Story and acting was outstanding Even the negative role was simply The best🙏🌺💯🌻🌾 Soo natural close to life
Few things warm heart more than seeing the company of Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Anupam Kher, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Shekhar Kapur, the early Subhash Ghai. The 80s' hindi cinema was and is unnecessarily called the worst of the decades. They were mainstream, they were such stars but they were so delightful to see on screen. Maybe the fringe of the mainstream. Very, very likeable. They made such solid, believable, mainstream dramas. Characters could be seen for who they were, and one didn't have to worry about the fucking subtexts, thematic extrapolations. Unlike the shitty, pretentious mainstream in the fringe today that includes the man interviewing Vidhu, Anil, and Jackie in this video!
Thanks Film Companion for this particular vid....missed nana patekar.....parinda is such a leap at that time and personally I'm glad that u gave us more insight.....i would humbly request u the same for Ankush if possible.... thanks a lot again 🙏🙏🙏
Karan johar should learn a thing from anupama about how the chat shows should be. This is such an interesting stuff and people would definitely want to hear it, getting to know how much effort goes into the film-making process. Rather karan keeps asking bullshit question on whose dating who which even the celebs dont want to answer!
3rd November 1989 I saw at Dhillon complex manimajra and I was 13 years old. At that time film was so slow and theatre was empty. First day.after 2-3 days it started catching up and bcm hit
When I saw the movie I also thought that it was a dream sequence🤣 I mean at that time specially when three superstar were there in a movie you don't expect sad endings in 80s and 90s ......I thought that it was a comercial movie like ram lakhan and I was watching it today for first time to see just nana patekar acting I had no clue about the movie.....but it was really a fantastic movie ...loved it
Parinda was so real.. script was wonderful , star cast was powerpact ... and it was like these giants or you can say gods ... collaborated together.... love vidhu Vinod chopras work back then.... wish he can rejuvenate those characters with excellent casting.... there was chemistry going around with each and every star cast,,, like they were successful to hook the audience.......
Thank you for sharing this. Really. This was very entertaining. I enjoy learning about how movies are produced/ distributed and most importantly the intricate filmmaking process. Lots of respect.
How can you discuss parinda without nana patekar?
Right
Jhagda ho gya tbse batchit band hai Nana ki vidhu se
Because of the fight with nana.
Agreed No Parinda Without Nana
they showed how for like 20 minutes 😊
So true
vidhu vinod chopra from bombay, and mani ratnam from madras: true gems of the 80s/90s.
Absolutely agree
You probably dont care at all but does anyone know of a method to get back into an instagram account..?

Finally a channel that is interested in Hindi Cinema filmmaking and Bollywood artists. Great job!
+Kartikeya Dutta Thank you Kartikeya - do help to spread the word - Anupama.
@@FilmCompanionStudios sexy
But not in Hindi language - only Jacky keeping it alive.
Jaggu Dada is one heck of a character.. he is so funny and natural...
He's just honest and that is a great trait to have in his industry
right
He's Not. Look at him here and in other lousy comedy gags . He is behaving totally different here.
Parinda is one of the Finest Hindi film ever made...exceptional movie. Loved it
Candid discussion from all the participants. Especially Jackie Shroff. He's priceless.
I wish this was longer! So entertaining, and so much to learn! Wish Jackie could speak more on the last scene of "Parinda". But I guess things like great acting cannot be explained, or analyzed! It happens in the moment. Jackie Shroff was so powerful in the climax.
Absolutely Right. . So much to learn. . . Absorbing something from there into inside ourselves ; but clearly don't know what. . . .
love this interview, respect for all - Anurag, Vidhu, Anil, Jackie!
ya
Why is Nana Patekar missing. Parinda would never have been a masterpiece without him.
Nana and Vidhu doesn't share a positive relationship that's why
So heart warming listening to these stories and incidents from the past.. I love this approach where it's informal and a chatting session than the usual 'rapid fire' or 'never have I ever' type interviews.. Well done team!
Anupama, you should do Satya with RGV, Anurag Kashyap, Manoj Bajpai and Kallu Maaaaaaaaaaamaaaa :)
Mumbai Ka king Bhiku matre
SJK GANESH Sahi bola
YESSSSSSSSS PLSSSSSSSSSS
Yes Anupama do this plz
This was extremely interesting..... I hope more of such interviews, rather than those absurd 'who is your favorite Khan' kinda star interviews !!
This is far much better than koffee with Karan... Absolutely love such candid conversation..wonder who didn't like this and why ?
Amazing movie... I remember it's all dialogues. Still today.... This movie always helps me when I am upset and need the escape..... Jackie dada has been my love ever since.
Parinda, one of the finest film of the Hindi cinema. Love it it every time I watch it. Enjoyed every bit of this conversation, never wanted it to end.
I have not seen a movie like Parinda. It was ahead of its time. It started the trend of film noir with main cast in grey shade( Jackie sir) here.
Jokes apart, how fascinating to relive the struggles and laugh at it.
Jackie shroff is bad ass. Love this guys attitude ☺️
Jackie shroff good actor
Parinda yet again :)
Nana Patekar and Madhuri Dixit are missed.
The film was hard hitting..emotionally raw.
I believe Jackie Shroff won a firmware for his role. :)

Essential viewing for any cinema-lover!

Bloody brilliant! Thankyou for sharing these insightful discussions with us.... Looking forward to more
1:57 listen what Chopra has said....
That's why Anand L Rai once said "There're no bad actors ; only bad directors" 👏🙏
Nana Patekar sir, in PARINDA like 🔥🙌🏻
It is apparent that all 3 share a great bond even today :)..another exception in today's world of films.
As a 17 year old watched PARINDA four times in the cinema theatre.
What a film !!!
This movie I have seen in my colleague days after bunk lecter with friends and at after we discussed only that last scene of Madhuri and Anil because we were first time seen such scene, But after some time when I was alone then realising the impact of every performance not only from actor but also form technician sound direction pace of movie everything... It was awesome seeing Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor together love you guys
right both have clash in movies but in real life they are friends
Jackie is such a genuine person...and Vidhu trusted him with such an emotionally draining role!
It is funny how nostalgia makes you like actors you didn't like as a youngster.
Hmm..interesting observation..perhaps true as well for many..
Even few film old at the time of Parinda Mr. Nana Patekar delivered outstanding exllent performance by everyone is praising. What a strength man.

This session confirms the notion that the finest movies made in India are made on shoestring budget and always difficult to sell. Look at Khamosh

Parinda and many other film in which nana work belongs to NANA sir his acting and dialogues delivery are the highlights of the film.🙏🏻😷

Great work comes out with lot of hard work. Its very easy to refused and negative marking abt cinema but they put lots of efforts to bring it out .
I love anil sir and jackie shroff soooooo Nice voice eyes everthing good b f
It’s hard to imagine anyone other than Jackie Shroff in the role of Kishen but then again Naseeruddin Shah would have been electric.
Thank you for these gems!

if Jackie Shroff says "Mereko acting wacting nahi aata, tu sambhal lena". He is so humble and down to earth.
ya very nice person and humble jackie shroff

Thanks a lot for the golden memories of this masterpiece.
Good for times when media and critics were not after the actors
very true ..journalists used to mind their own business beyond business heh
I imagine that last time when Jackie Shroff spoke in a proper Hindi language without using any tapori word like bhidu Bawa
i am fan of Vidhu Vinod Chopra .......great film maker and person...........

Anil Kapoor is smart and fashionable.
My favourite director too. Here after his comeback film 12th fail, film of the year again
In the entire scene between Nana Patekar and Jacky schroff, Not even a single word by Jacky Schroff, only expressions
We need more filmmakers like Vidhu right now in Bollywood
