- Ghost opened tonight with a new song from their album coming out in March! I think it's called Imperium/Kaisarion. They also had some stage difficulties with the theatre curtain haha! They did not play Call Me Little Sunshine tonight.
They had a “Spinal Tap” moment with the curtain, but it didn’t stop them. Ghost is singlehandedly carrying Rock n Roll nowadays. This song RULES!
For all I know, the curtain thing could've been intentional. I feel Tobias is a person who could think of doing it like that. 😂
You can't have Meliora or even Infestissumam forever. This band evolve, end keep getting even more incredible for it. Love this Maiden vibe.

@@DomChelini the two keyboard/piano/syth players (if they are the same as last tour) are both brilliant musicians and singers in their own right. Then there is multi-ghoul, again the same. At least one of the guitarists I know (big guy, black guitar) is a singer, writer, multi instrument player, solo artist and has own band. This should be one fantastic live band, and it is. Thanks for uploading.

@@shannonlucas2980 I was a regular, joining CC and his cat in his living room during the worst of the last years. Having seen him jump and kick on stage with Ghost here in Germany a few years ago it was rather odd, but in a good way. I like lots of his solo stuff - you die in the end, a favourite.

Some bands play a concert. Ghost puts on a show. There's a huge difference between the two. This is a powerhouse performance! 💜
As far as theatrics go, they carrying KISS' banner now. Kiss may have started the whole theatrical costume rock show but Ghost is doing their best to surpass it. Got the songs to back it up too.
@@joshbrowntube I agree! KISS could put on a show, but I can't say I ever dug their music much. Ghost has given me faith (no pun intended) that good music can still be made, artfully.
I'm getting some Iron Maiden vibes from this one! Gotta love how people are seriously making hot-take judgements based off of shitty camera audio. The studio version is going to kick so much ass I'm certain.

Just saw this live, I was pleasantly surprised by a new song, and I loved it instantly! (Especially the amazing backup singers). At first I thought the new ghouls were weird looking, but it eventually grew on me, and I’m glad there’s a fresh change to their theme. I can’t wait to see how it all ties together with the new songs they release >:0
OH AND PAPAS NEW ROBES WERE SICK, I really loved the old blue one he debuted with, but the hat he wore is just so funny and enjoyable to look at

Do the new ghoul outfits (specifically the masks) take some getting used to? Yes
So does Popia who now looks more like Michael Myers's long lost gay twin brother..
Do I prefer Meliora+ Papa 3 and Prequelle with The Cardinal? Yes..
But that doesn't mean that I shit on the new stuff, even if I don't necessarily like it at first glance..
It's worth to be given a proper chance..
This was the first show in 2 years and we haven't heard the rest of Impera yet.. So, even tho things might look a bit... weird to you, its always worth to give the rest a proper chance, listen to it a few times ect..
If you still don't like it? That's fine, but please respect the opinion of those that do in fact like it or at least want to give it a chance..
Finally another civil Ghost fan. Totally agreed with you. I’m really warming to this whole new look and sound. It’s a new era for this band.

I was there, one of the best concerts I have ever been to!
I was given tickets by my younger brother who won them and couldn't make the show it was next level expected moshing and craziness got a satanic church service with everyone swaying jaws on the floor in awe was right around the time they released square hammer one of the very best shows I've ever seen

I love the new Ghouls. The album cover with these new military/hussar cape Ghouls and this propaganda piece sounding intro all scream of a Papa dictatorship concept, which suits perfectly the theme of rising and falling of Empires. The song sounds a bit weird to my ears, but I like it. Need to wait for the studio version, since I clearly remember in Rats of the Road tour the Prequelle songs sounding equally weird at first.

I have not experienced the change of epochs before, they all appeared before me in an instant. Like others have said here…I’m getting the Maiden vibes on this one. Ghost did tour with them a few years ago so that makes sense. First saw Ghost live on that tour. It took me a while to get into them but love them now. Their live show always delivers. Wish I was going to see them next month but sadly will miss it. It will be a long tour and I’m sure I’ll get another chance. My only gripe on the current setlist is the Enter Sandman cover. I get that they covered it on that Metallica Black Album tribute album recently so they want to play it live. They could easily drop that and play another song from the new album.
I miss the capes each of the Ghouls had on. Seems like they ditched those along the way

People are mad about change, but I was *just* getting worried that Ghost would get stagnant. Short, melodic pop-rock anthems that get from point A to point B…well, I was getting worried this album would be all the same. This is a refreshing change of pace.

My first thought was that it didn't seem like that was Per but then I wasn't so sure from looking at a couple of other videos...hard to tell. Not sure I've ever seen Per playing a Strat before either, which doesn't mean much either way.
@@Vortigan07 I watched all of the footage closely and I definitely think it's him judging by his posture and style..
He's still "young" (-ish ;-), no I'm old) but he definitely seems to have upped his game! Like all of us he must've had plenty of time to practice his chops.
I really love that strat sound though in songs like Call Me Little Sunshine (y) It's a hotrodded, fat sounding strat though.. Seems to have humbuckers and a different (Kahler?) tremolo..
Cannot wait for the album! An uplifting song such as Kaisarion sounds very promising!!
@@pipschannel1222 Yeah I'm certain that you're right! I've seen the "Square Hammer" footage from last night now and it's all there, both posture and style, as you pointed out. I agree also about that Strat sound, it's another interesting switch up from what we've previously seen/heard. Speaking of which, it seems odd doesn't it that the band is attracting as much negative attention in comments after seeing a few fan recorded videos from last night? A two year enforced hiatus from the live stage, a new record, a new stage show, possibly a couple of new touring members of the band, a double headline tour and all the pitfalls of opening night gremlins...not sure why people are jumping in on them so fast! Like you, from what I've heard so far from CMLS to Kaisarion, I reckon the new record is promising a huge amount and I think the tour is going to match it! Anyone that's already decided to write them off is going to be seriously embarrassed a few months from now!

Yeah, I think he just really got fed up with that huge Hagstrom piece of driftwood ;-) I have (a copy of) his old guitar (the white Hagstrom Fantomen battle axe ;-) ) and it's a beautiful guitar and it sounds great and thick like a Les Paul, but a strat is far more practical and "faster" ;-) You can also see he gets to enjoy using his whammy bar now!
Nevermind the negative attention. Ghost has always been an "evident target of critisism"; It isn't anything new. A lot of "experts" (read: weekend warriors) within the anal metal community just don't get this band. It's not rock; it's not metal. It's just Ghost and I for one love them more than anything. They're campy as hell but I love that. At least they're self aware and do it in style and with lots of humor and most importantly: They make beautiful melodic music!🤘
@@pipschannel1222 I agree. The Hagstrom is a bit monstrous for a small guy like Per. Besides Tobias uses a variety of guitars when recording in studio and a Strat is one of his main go to guitars.

The nameless ghouls have totally lost their Satanic look now... kinda disappointing. Each new image of the band has previously seemed like an evolution of the last... this feels like Ghost have finally 'jumped the shark' imagewise. Music is still bangin tho.
You can't expect the band to look the same all the time. That gets stale after a while. Instead of just changing Papa, they are changing everyone. I feel had the album been released before the tour, it would not be so jarring.
They only looked satanic during the Meliora/Prequelle eras, they were previously like plague doctors.
I feel ya. They definitely lost their Satanic look. I m a bit disappointed as well. Yeah, musics still banging but the ghouls in particular don’t match. I would have love if they kept the same masks and just changed outfits.

They've been getting more popular. Playing bigger venues. Even arenas. I love LOVE Opus and infestissimum but they didn't get nominated for any Grammys.

I saw the whole show and I’m highly disappointed. The new look of the Ghouls have nothing to do with Papas look and have nothing to do with the stage back drop. The setlist was all over the place, there was no flow, songs felt scattered bit cohesive whatsoever. By now you’d think that Ghost would put out a cohesive concept show but it was nothing like that. Would love to see the Ghouls to stay in place and give some sort of life to their new look but they were all over the place like the setlist. The band had no chemistry on stage. I won’t say Ghost lost their theatrical aspect but this ain’t it. This is not a band that’s putting on a show, they’re just playing songs live. Eh…
I thought the theme was kinda steampunk, the video has a stream train in it and the album cover is very industrial and structural looking, so they kinda tie in with that.

It’s probably a new stage band and it’s their first time performing in about 2 years, Cut them some slack! It’s opening night for gods sake, things are bound to not be perfect first time. Also it’s a co headline tour so of course they aren’t going to give the normal theatrical rock show that they would normally considering the fact that not everyone is there to see them, And on the back of the tour shirt it says “Pre -“ meaning that this isn’t the actual tour for the album release. As you saw by the curtain getting stuck, not everything was going to go exactly smoothly so cut the band some slack!
