Mike was the only character that neither feared nor respected Walter. I feel like that infuriated him more than anything Gus ever did.
100%
I think him not fearing Walt is what got him killed. If he did fear him, he pry wouldve checked his bag for his gun as soon as he grabbed it from him.
@@dwarfchron801 Underestimating sure, but I don’t think there was ever a point where he was afraid.
He never really trusted him either which is why i still dont get why he would be cool with Walt bring the bag. Especially after telling Jesse he couldn’t because he wanted Saul to do it.
@@sorrellsnlsr I think he sensed that Walter feared him and wouldn’t have the balls to try anything. His fatal mistake.
Theres an interview with the whole cast where the actor who plays Mike gives a super heart felt and teary eyed speech about how blessed and lucky was to be able to work on such an incredible show with incredible people. And the second hes done talking Bryan Cranston says "My favorite part was killing Mike Ehrmantraut." 😂
Bryan Cranstonnis hilarious
Lol yea it's like what Aaron Paul said Bryan is the most professional and the most immature guy to work with at the same time lol
The 1 minute 43 second silence from primate when the episode ended perfectly explains how EVERYONE felt after mikes death in this show..
I thought the video had buffered at first. I'm glad that Mike's death had such a profound effect on him
True moment of silence for a great character
It still hurts to see him fall. 😞
@@richardsteiner8992 for real
That was the line in the sand for me, I hated Walter from that moment on
Mike was willing to die to protect the identities of his men, which shows true loyalty in my opinion since they were to him what Jesse is to Walt if not moreso.
Which was worthless cuz they all die anyway!
Which is sad given... Some of them didn't really deserve it; Couple of them were ratting him out, one accepted a contract to kill Mike...
@@SmallvilleFann1983 there's no loyalty in the game
@@SmallvilleFann1983
Not his point tho.
And u wanna say that loyalty is pointless or what are u trying to say here?
Or that his death was pointless?
Because it wasnt.
Mike did his part but his guys got killed because the buisiness girl snitched them out.
Mike did everything right.
This is why you needed season 5. Nobody ever predicted season 5 because they thought season 4 was the climax. It caught everyone off guard that season 5 would be this good, if not better than season 4. Some of the upcoming episodes will be regarded as some of the best in television history.
I think watching it while it aired is what made me so interested in TV. It was so exciting, never seen anything like it before
And THAT ladies and gents is what makes this guy the best reactor to BB ever!!!! Your complete and lengthy genuine silence at the end was just so emotional and great. Almost like a respect for Mike's death. Reactions like that trump yappin any day.
It was an authentic moment. Reactors should be as authentic as possible
@@EatYourVegs agreed!! And not assume they have to damn talk through the whole episode! So many reactors ruin the scene or dont pick up on things they need to because they're too busy flapping! What primate did at the end of this episode was classic and trumped any talking he could do. Facial expressions, laughter, tears, silence and body language are so much better than talk.
Mike’s death will forever hurt me
Especially after BCS. I was so mad I mailed my own poop to Bryan Cranston
@@mr.greasy6483 lmao
Mike deserved better
23:11 Lol, that was the longest pause after an episode ending that I've ever seen. Almost two whole minutes of silence 😀Totally justifiable though... It's a hard hitting episode for sure.
So is the next one 😂
That was my reaction when the episode first aired. Just numb for a minutes.
@@bradleypowers3580 And the next, and the next, and the next…
I remember having the same reaction this ep
@@HouseOfHockey14 Yep! Nothing stops this train!!
This episode truly is the beginning of the end. Also..."Palpatine sh!t" literally almost made me shoot my drink out my nose.
24:00 I feel you. I feel you big time.
Mike is my favorite character in the show. His death is a gut punch. If there were any good men in the crime world of Breaking Bad, Mike was certainly one of them. An honorable man among thieves and crooks.
But are you really surprised? This really can't "end" any other way. The walls are closing in on everyone. The noose is tightening. You can only not make mistakes for so long.
Mike was definitely not honorable, especially if you watch Better Call Saul. He wanted to be good, but ultimately, he was a bad person on a bad choice road. He could've changed his choices bit he didn't
bruh, i think you spoiled him
@@user-ex7yq6xq9s no.
@@whatno3145 yes, he was honorable. Compared to the company he was in.
@@OpenMawProductions He put his family in danger and had innocents killed. He's no better than Walt.
Man, you could tell Walt finally realized what he just did and instantly regretted it. Man, I feel bad for Mike bro, I wish Walter’s ego didn’t kill Mike.
Oh man I can’t even imagine the fan fictions on mike if he would escape with Walter 😂
Mike was so right with Walters ego
Extra sad, too, because he was the only one who saw it. He said back at the beginning of the season that Walt was a "time bomb, tick tick tick...", saying he had no intention of being around for the boom. Except he was.
@@extantsanity so sad
Not in this situation no.
He should have trusted his instincts and stayed far away from Walt.

Hyped every week for a new episode! Coming so close to the end
All these years later and I’m still not over Mike’s death. Such an amazing character. Literally the maddest I’ve ever been at Walt, damn. Another great reaction bro.
22:41-24:54 Best Primate commentary ever, that’s really all you can say. Tough episode.
Mike was not having Walt's self-justification bull at the end. He knows why he _really_ died, and he doesn't care either way.
Wow that long moment of silence I felt that when I watched this too
Does Walt have an ego the size of Texas? Absolutely. Did they have a good operation going with Gus? Yep. Can the disaster be boiled down in those simple terms? No, it can't. Who can say how it might have gone if Jesse hadn't tried to kill those dealers? I'm sure Walt would have gotten into some other kind of trouble, but it played out like it did because Walt decided to save Jesse's life. Still, in that moment it's easier for Mike to direct all his rage at Walter, and it isn't undeserved. RIP Mike.
No.
Cartel wanted to kill Walt too. Also what if Walter wanted to retire? Would Gus have killed Walt?
All because Walter didn't just tell Jesse about the rv
Walt really just offed Mike because he lost the argument. Unreal
Bro that unaware long pause after mike died gave me CHILLS
Walt is so emotionally abusive to Jesse, it makes me feel bad for him. I think that Walt can't understand why Jesse wants to get out, because Walt's whole motivation IS being "the best" at something and he genuinely can't understand why someone would give that up. RIP Mike.
was the poor wittwe meth kingpin being emotionally abused :(
He can understand it he just wants to manipulate him for his own good
Dude...that reaction at the end was all of us! Total pain for Mike 😢 and total hatred for Walter 🤬. The next ep (which you have already seen) has my favorite cooking montage in the show...Crystal Blue Persuasion baby!
I love the Crystal Blue Persuasion montage too!
That really is the best one
I think most people who still didn’t hate Walt at this point in the series, did after this episode.
Next episode was the mid season finale.. can you imagine waiting a year after THAT???
Man it was torture 😢 I couldn't stop thinking about hank on the toilet for a whole year
Mike was a perfect character.
The look of terror on Walt’s face when Mike drove off after he pulled the trigger was like “Oh shit! I missed! I’m dead meat! Mike’s going to kill me!!!”
My favourite line in this episode is -Jessie “Vamanos” Skylar “I wish”
And so begins the greatest television run of all time
One of the greatest episodes in my opinion! That last scene with Mike was phenomenal, as well as the opening scene with the “your god damn right”. This season just gets better and better , and is definitely my favourite of the show! I’m SO hyped to watch you react to Better Call Saul as well man!
Aww, I feel you, bruh. I was HOT about Mike the first time I watched. As bad ass as he was, for him to get taken out by freakin' Walt (and unnecessarily so) cut deep.
whats ur ig?
im lowkey badass like mike.

21:50 your reaction when Walt started walking back was genuinely hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
“If you believe there’s a hell….we’re already pretty much going there, right?… But I’m not gonna’ lie down until I get there.” 🥶
@ItsAPrimate
And what's really sad is that Mike's granddaughter Kaylee will never see him again. She might spend most of her life growing up without her dear grandfather who she looked up to the most.
I felt you man. First time I watched this I couldn’t believe Mike actually died
That ending, I had no words, just pure frustration
The long pause after the ending was so funny 😂😂😂

RIP Mike one of the fan favorites for sure.
Declan is not from the east coast. He’s from Arizona.
One of the saddest deaths of all time for me, I loved mike so much and felt so betrayed when Walt did this 😢for such a dumb reason too…
A moment of silence for Mike
The last monologue Mike told Walt was 100% true.
Not really. Gus was gonna kill Walt and his family, Walt had to kill him.
@@matthewcovert5055 Walt was plotting to kill Gus throughout Season 4, and yes, Gus did want to kill him too, and tried to kill him in Season 3. But in Season 4 Walt did have another chance to stay alive, because Jesse vouched for him.
Even so, Walt had brought Hank too close to Gus, putting him back on the Heisenberg case, because Walt didn’t want Gale getting credit for his work.
This along with Walter still trying to kill Gus, and everything else Walt did in Season 4 put his whole family on Gus’ hit list. Yes, Gus holds just as much blame too, but Walter only made it worse.
Not true. Mike and Gus were hell bent on killing Jesse at the end of season 3. If Walter had “known his place” they would have killed Jesse.
I still find it so sad how Mike just disappeared if you think about his granddaughters and his daughter-in-law's perspective and they never know what happened to him
Walter became like Gus. Gus killed his own guy. Now Walt killed his own guy.
Wow this episode I was waiting for from when you started season 5
That was the longest silence ever
Next episode is the mid season finale and when season 4 gets its tilte for the best season of tv history
RIP to a real one. One of my favorite characters. Fucking Walter man
1) Mike in his speech isn't 100% right. Walt's not fully responsible. Things with Gus were more or less ok UNTIL Jesse, high on emotions, went on with his revenge against those dealers who killed Tomas. It all went downhill from there. Sure, Walt could've let it go and didn't save Jesse. He did. But still it's started with Jesse. Everything that happened after were consequences of this.
And I S4 it was all about Walt fighting for his life against Gus. He didn't kill him cause he wanted to be a boss in a first place. He needed to save himself, family and Hank. It just happened that killing Gus stroked his ego more than anything he's done before.
So there's that. Mike's not fully right by saying that everything falling apart is on Walt. Period.
2) I love Mike. His death made me sad too, but it's kinda funny how it makes a lot of people SOOO sad like he was the good guy all along 😉He's a criminal and killer too. He's not that far off of Walt xd
I’m terms of things they’ve done sure but as far as personal things, ego, and the way they handle themselves it’s night and day 😂
I don't think anybody believes that Mike is a good guy. But for me, by this point in the show, he is an infinitely more likable character than Walt. Walt is insufferable, and has been for a while.
I’d argue it more started on Gus using children to sell his product, and having said children murdering people, or having said children murdered themselves.
Seeing as how Gus keeps strict tabs on people he works with, or work under him, I find it hard to believe that he wasn’t aware that his dealers used kids. Plus, the dealers murdering the kids afterwards, despite the fact that Jesse made it clear he cares about kids.
In regards to that, I think Gus is the one who deserves the blame instead of Jesse.
Also, one other thing. While Walt is rightfully worried/paranoid about Gus wanting to kill him, and replace him with Jesse, Jesse does vouch for Walt, refusing to cook for Gus if he kills Walter.
Besides, Walt has been drawing the DEA closer to Gus, and Walt is pretty much the reason Hank managed to figure Gus out. Walt put Hank back on the Heisenberg case when Hank was about to close it. This, along with Walt’s abuse over Jesse, lead to Gus firing Walt, and target his whole family. This of course is what ultimately made Gus’ empire collapse.
Overall, even before Gus threatened to kill Walt’s entire family, Walt has been quite insolent to Gus throughout Season 4, becoming the loose cannon Gus believed Jesse was. Walt had been causing Gus various problems throughout Season 4, and this was outside of his plot to kill Gus as well, partly due to his pride.
Cool, the episode is finally not blocked where I live and I'm glad I came back to watch it.
That minute of silence was amazing. :D
His reaction at the end my same reaction, I couldn’t believe it
You guys acting like Gus wasn’t the villain lmao he tried to kill Walt and Jesse what did u expect him to do, he had to kill him
Spoiler:
Yea people that say the final villains of show are Todd and his uncle miss the point that the real villain of the final season was Walt/Heisenburg himself ant this episode is one of the best illustrations of it.
the video i've been waiting for all week.
I got my dad into Breaking Bad last year and the moment he started to hate Walt was when he killed Mike, all the other atrocities he still supported him

I think maybe the idea is when Walter is telling Jesse he has nothing, he's sort of carrying that over from the fact that, as he mentioned when they were at Walter's dinner table, HE has nothing else.
That post-Mike pause...
I thought I was watching SCENE'crly KSO for a minute...
Wait until you see the next episode. Your jaw will be on the floor.
"If you leave, you GET NOTHING" lol. As if leaving Walt's ass is nothing.
@ItsAPrimate
You're not the only one who's sad here. We all loved Mike. He was more of a man of honor than Walt ever will be. And that bastard killed him for nothing, just killed him for being more right and wise than Walt ever will be. Walt killed him because he was right about him, being a walking Time Bomb or Atom Bomb.
I love that cook montage mostly because of the use of The Monkees tune, though Micky Dolenz wasn't too happy about it.
This show is just amazing
27:45 Let's not forget the reasons he "had to fuck it all up" though... It wasn't just his ego... the stuff with Jesse trying to kill those 2 guys and then Walt went to save him. That played a major role on how things ended up.
Your silence reminds me of when you saw the conclusion to the fight between oberyn and the mountain in got. Pure shock 😮
Another one of those moments for sure
The next episode is the mid-season finale. Some folks had to wait a year to see the rest of the show.
Gus was the kind of man Walter wanted to be. Mike was the kind of man Walter should have been.
Your facial reaction to the Todd reveal in the makeshift meth lab scene was perfect. Eyes roll away sideways from the screen in a WTF?/god dammit fashion, then they go up in a "Of course!" kind of way.
Gus pretty much insisted to Walt that he cook for him when Walt wanted out in defense of Walt
“Shut the fuck up and let me die in peace.” is such a Mike line. Sad that they were his last words. Walt starts turning from an anti-hero to a villain in Season 5.
Don’t worry Primate, Mike is in Belize.
RIP Mike, you deserved better...
Not a bad run for a character made up on the spot for season 2 though, right?
Walter only let Mike go cuz Mike had the heat on him. Jesse is just a pawn for Walter to manipulate and hang a carrot over his head.
You can see on Walts face that he hated cutting Jesse down this time
Everything falling apart is actually on Jesse, had he not gone after those 2 dealers and Walt saving his ass, everything would have been fine. Everyone always forgets how many times Walt has saved Jesse
Literally its so fugging annoying. Way too many people let jessey the cry baby off the hook for everything he's ever done cause he cries about it.

Just one more thing to add to the long list of tragedies in this show. As much as it sucks... the way they did it... makes it feel so real. There wasn't some glorified standoff. It was just messy and awkward. All because he called Walt out on his bullshit
Loved that reaction at the end. I literally stoped watching the show for like 4 months after this episode cause I was so mad. Mike for ever!!!

Glad you enjoy them!
Personally I thought the 24 minute long explicit sex scene with Mike and Waltuh on the riverbank at the end to be a little too long, but otherwise this was a great episode.
Disagree should of been longer
How I was feeling at the end of that episode too 😢
Say my name
26:58 It wasn't. The next episode was. Then there was THIRTEEN WHOLE FRICKIN MONTHS before it came back. So... not really a mid season finale. More like a SEASON FINALE!! Regardless of how it's classified by AMC, Netflix, Vince Gilligan & Co... TV Seasons come once a year. That's why we call them Seasons here in the states and not Series.
YOU’RE GODDAMN RIGHT!
You can bet your bippy that had Declan not accepted Walt's deal, Mike would've pulled out his pistol and shot Walt in the head. And it's a pistol, not a gun. 😁
Man. This one always hurts. I do think Walter was sorry after the fact but just keep in mind how irrational he is getting. That's what makes it so much more tragic, I think Walter earlier in his life of crime would have thought to get the names from Lydia, because he's a lot more calculated and careful. Now that Walt feel's like he's hot shit, it doesn't matter.
@@jakeybakey420blz2 like i said, after the fact Walter cared. Obviously Mike is a guy you would want out there if maybe you needed something done. Their relationship is purely transactional. Say walter needs a guy to be found, Mike's the perfect guy to call. I think season 3 shows us that these two had the potential to work together, but keep in mind everything fell apart BECAUSE Walter, would not let them harm Jesse. Then Gus had Tomas killed, a lot of the stuff Walter does is unforgivable yes, but he up until Gus' death for the most part was pretty loyal to people who were loyal to him. Jesse and Walt's relationship is super complicated but they kept each other alive. Had Walter theoretically not done that, Mike wouldn't have the relationship he developed with Jesse to begin with. So really both characters are shifting the blame here. Gus and Jesse have a lot more to do with this fallout amongst themselves then they do, prior to season 5 at least. Mike at one point seemed to somewhat like Walter, he even apologizes before he plans to kill him before they kill Gale, something he doesn't do for literally anyone else in the entire franchise.
after killing so many people it got easier for walter smh
@@JitteryJackanape You're right. I retract my previous statement.
@@RymeWithORANGE666 did it though? the more people walter kills the more into crime he gets and new problems come up and more people gotta get killed. he isn't just coasting here.
Mike wanted Jesse dead at the end of season 3 along with Gus. If Walter had “known his place” they would have killed Jesse after the gangbanger incident. His speech was bs.
Exactly
To be fair, I think Mike was actually referring to Season 4, when Mike told Walter that he won, reminding him that he got the job.
As begrudging as Mike was to admit it, I think he acknowledged what Walt was saying that they both did what they both felt they needed to in Season 3, and told Walt that he won, and should do himself a favour and take yes for an answer.
Walt and Jesse did have another chance during Season 4. Plus, Mike and Jesse started to get along at that point. So I think that’s what Mike was referring to.
Here’s the way I look at it. In Season 3, the events that lead to the finale were because of how ruthlessly Gus handled things, including using children. Everything else after that, Seasons 4 and 5, were more on Walt.
@@jakandratchet9930 and even then it was also bs. Don’t forget right after that Mike and Gus manipulate Jesse on their side by making him the hero in the shotgun episode. That started the drift between Jesse and Walter because Walt saw through that but Jesse had fallen for it. Which is exactly what Gus wanted. By the time Jesse and Mike were good the target was then on Walter. The minute Walter killed Gus’s men in season 3 by saving Jesse it was Gus’s objective to get rid of Walter one way or another. Walter did what he had to to survive. The point is either Jesse or Walter wouldn’t have been “fine” like Mike said cause from that moment one of them had a target on their back until the conclusion of season 4.
@@73aguilera Even with the rift though, and Walter and Jesse being at crossroads, even after Walter assaulted/abused Jesse in his own home and Jesse told him to never come back, Jesse still vouched for Walt and didn’t want Gus to kill him.
Gus even admitted to Walter that Walt was correct that Jesse isn’t letting Gus kill him, even if Gus thinks he’ll come around.
@@jakandratchet9930 first Walter didn’t abuse/assault him at his home. It was a mutual fight started after Jesse threw the tracker at his face lmao. They have both had each other backs from the beginning. And even if Gus wasn’t going to kill Walter because of Jesse he was still going after Hank which is something Walter wasn’t going to allow. Exactly another reason walter couldn’t “know his place” that would have cost Hank his life earlier than it did.
Everyone thinks Mike "owned" Walt in his last speech, but the speech was complete bullshit. Mike says its Walts ego that ruined everything with Gus, which is not even remotely true. Heres why:
Everything was great with Gus until the feud between Jesse and the street dealers. The street dealers murdered Tomas and Jesse tried to kill them in response. Walt knew Jesse would do that so he ran over them to save Jesse. Because of this, Gus decided that Walt and Jesse needed to go and planned to kill them and have Gale take over.
Gus didnt need to do this. Walt even proposed to Gus to just let this go, which he could have. But he didn't. Instead, he planned to kill them. Because of this, Walt killed Gus as soon as he had the chance.
So no, "everything falling apart" was not because of Walts ego. It was because Gus made the stupid decision to side with the street dealers and planned to kill Walt for saving Jesse.
That's too much logic for most people. People don't use their heads, it's all about emotions and nothing but emotions. UH MIKE GOOD WALT BAD OOGA BOOGA
