The perfect voice. The perfect guitar player. The perfect drum player. The perfect bass player. The perfect keyboard player. The perfect songs. Symphony X.
Allen's voice is unreal. I couldn't believe my ears when I saw them. They're one of those rare bands that sound even BETTER live than on the album. I'm so pleased they're all still kicking and haven't missed a beat since the 90s. Incredible talent. I wish them all the best, and I'm gonna see them next chance I get.
So glad this song returns to the set list! Their best song since The Odyssey, along with Reign In Madness. Some of Pinella's best work (piano) is found on this one!
Just recently started listening to this band and HOLY SHIT, how have I not heard them play before? Instantly became one of my top favorite bands! I knew Russell from Mike Orlando's band Adrenaline Mob. So I heard them name years ago, but never got to listen. I'm doing a guest solo an a friends metal project and was looking for inspiration and some reason this band's name popped in my head (I think I was actually thinking of Racer X, but anyway). I was driving and asked Siri to play Symphony X and was hooked instantly.
How the hell drummer remember all those notes? I listened rock songs more than 15 years now and symphony x is always be the first in my mind to listen to. I have entire album of them and this is one of the song that I liked the most. It's just a masterpiece.
I saw them back in 2008 - they were unbelievable then... they just got better. TSO tuned this mans voice even more... god i love this band. Will be seeing them in New Haven this year.
Certainly a never 'underrated' band apart from the folk who think they are. Anyone who is anyone knows how supreme Symphony X are in this genre and also in a world of spotify/applemusic/youtube etc - they can still produce the goods thanks to the sheer professional musicianship and effort, over time that they have invested into their craft - I applaud their magnificent career /,,/
He always has. I've seen them two times. Once opening for Blind Guardian in 2003 right after The Odyssey came out. I was impressed the live show was as tight at the album. Every note was there. I saw them in Albany in maybe 2008? Their encore was the entirety of The Odyssey. They played the entire song in a bar in front of maybe 120 people. They went THAT hard for that few people.
Yes, they should just get it done already! Reccommend the ancient roman theater in plovdiv, where Sons of Apollo and Devin Townsend did some great concerts with a symphony orchestra. This band is made for this, imagine the accolade, odyssey, divine wings, Communion, Through the looking glass with a full orchestra and choir... in a roman amphitheater, in the city founded by Philip of Macedon
@@shababrk LaBrie is tolerable, in studio. Live? Not so much. I've been listening since 1994, and have seen them twice, but never again. I wish Dream Theater had a singer like Russell Allen, or Nils K Rue, but it was never meant to be I guess.
@@Matts_Presentations yes live it’s horrible and it’s funny when fans try to defend him. I start thinking that dream theater fans have no taste in music haha
dude, the guy is a god damned kaiju-level monster on the guitar. mind blowing. he and the always amazing Micheal Pinnella did a cover of Rush's Analog Kid a long while back with no less than Jack Russel from Great White and freaking Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), and they absolutely slayed that track. The solos in it are utterly face melting, he and Pinnella both.
Gosh, thanks for uploading this. One of my favourite SX songs, and I doubt I'll ever have a chance of seeing this live - this is as close as it'll get. Magnificent.
Thank you for posting this. Was there at the show with you -- this is my favorite SymX song of all time, and it moved me to tears! Unforgettable night.
Especially for me, since I handed them my drawing. Their reaction was priceless. Although I wanted to jump on stage and play sea of lies, they already played it and I cant play any of their other songs because muchael romeo doesn't make any song easy. Was a great show, indeed
@@th3gimp17 thanks man. Also, I dont really like to be rhat guy who advertises their Instagram, but in this case I just don't know any other way I could show the drawings. i believe MR said in a current interview on youtube that he did start writing new songs for the new symphony x album but that they were going to take some time to record it. But it definitely is happening!
Viva a esses gigantes.
I think the main reason why they don't play a lot of the older songs is that Russel can't sing them anymore (at least in the current tuning). A Fools Paradise has a lot of high notes in the vocals so I guess it would be difficult for him to sing those reliably.
One of my favorite bands ever, SyX and DT are my top, they are amazing and I enjoy everything on their performance, Russell Allen the best metal voice period. But... I just cant understand how being such an amazing composer and guitar player Michael Romeo makes sloppy mistakes, it seems like he doesn't care much and hits wrong notes, I don't care if he don't play exactly as the song was recorded but hitting off key notes is another thing.
Russell is still one of the very best vocalists out there. So so good!
100% he's easily one the best ever
Reminds me of Steve Walsh (Kansas)... Nothing bad with that!
Yes ! .
Great souvenir of their French tour in 2003 .
indeed... the guy is a legend!

The perfect voice. The perfect guitar player. The perfect drum player. The perfect bass player. The perfect keyboard player. The perfect songs. Symphony X.
They deserve much bigger stages!
Very hardworking guys
Hell no, nothing better than a small venue
Most underrated band ever... They are just the music perfection. The perfect balance between pasion, melody, metal, technical. I fucking love them...
It was even better than the studio version. His vocals is breathtaking. Thanks for the upload
Russell is the absolute best vocalist in the world

Very underrated vocalist. I'd love to see these gentlemen and Dream Theater tour together. Maybe add Kamelot
there's a video where Russell Allen sings cemetery gates with dream theater.
So glad this song returns to the set list! Their best song since The Odyssey, along with Reign In Madness.

Yes! Indeed... Go listen to The Vampires Opera. Give that your ears for a few. 👍👍💎
