Tom Brady said in an interview Ed Reed gave him the most difficulty out of all the defensive players he went up against. Heck of a compliment from the GOAT
Facts! When Brady was asked “who’s the greatest DB you’ve ever played against?” Tom literally didn’t even take one second before immediately saying Ed reed. Ed Reed was a fucking menace
And it def showed…the greatest show on turf was some of the best football I seen growing up….that offense was fun to watch .. and then Kurt Warner gave everyone hope, that “you too,can go pro like me”lol
I always find the Ed Vs Troy argument weird. Even though Troy said in an interview that Ed was the Greatest Safety of All Time. I still don’t understand why anyone ever compares the 2. One is a Free Safety and the other is a Strong Safety. Even though they’re both Safeties, They are very different positions in Every way.
People would say after one of his AMAZING plays, “He came out of nowhere”!! But Ed will tell you if asked, he NEVER simply “came out of nowhere”, but rather film study taught him where to be on certain looks from an offense. He was never lucky, but rather, always prepared.
I bet there are a million stories of athletes who were so supremely gifted but they got exposed at the elite levels because they failed to do the small things in order to win. Ed Reed, Kobe, Jordan, Brady, Ali and all the true greats didn’t get to where they’re at on athleticism alone. It takes a great mind for their craft and a willingness to work and study.
@@vladimirjackson1272 Troy was one of the greatest... Ed was the greatest. Troy didn't have Peyton and Tom studying for him. Yes Troy was a bigger hitter. But Ed could line up single high safety and cover the whole deep zone. Ed-More ints, more defensive TDs. Most return yards ever. Longest defensive TD ever at 107 yards. Don't get me wrong Troy was unreal! Ed was just the best Safety we have seen to date.
@dylans1492 I don't think i'm disagreeing with you, but i'm not 100% agreeing with you! I PROMISE that Peyton and Tom had sleepless nights going against Troy bro
They always said when everyone else had gone home Lewis and Reed would still be in the film room. I guess that’s part of the reason they became legendary.
That's because true greatness is almost always having top tier genetics COMBINED with a serviceably high enough IQ COMBINED with a strong work ethic. This is why 99.9 percent of the population is out of the equation.
Best overall safety in history. There are some that were better at runs support and others who had more interceptions. But nobody could do things like he could. Just put on a tape and watch his instincts on some of the plays he made. It’s unreal. I saw him go from one side of the field to the other before the quarterback even turned His head and shoulders and threw the ball and Reed was right there to intercept it. Plus, he’s the only person in history the score a touchdown on an interception return, a punt return, and blocking a punt and returning it for a touchdown. He’s also the all-time leader and interception return yards.
Ed Reed is making a point about the necessity of teamwork and commitment. Joe Buck, “god you hate quarterbacks.” Good work, joe. Outstanding contribution. What. A. Putz.
I was doing a training class one day. Some of the people in the back row kept yapping like it was their most important endeavor. I told them to shut up and respect the trainer. They're here for a reason, and so is the trainer. Last training class I had with that company.
Just woke up to an interview on the tv with Ed Reed - why he so damn fine with all that gray? I had to know who this black king was, sheesh…I’m up, good morning!😅😊❤❤❤
One of the only guys ive heard who slept in most meetings and could point out everything for every player on the defense was Lawrence Taylor as told to the world by Carl Banks🤦🏾♂️
In the Army, I had a commander who expected his senior leadership to take notes every meeting. I never took notes and kept track of what the entire company was supposed to do as well as my platoon. Just because you need notes doesn't mean everyone does. I hate notes.
You’re absolutely right. I had a near photographic memory so I never needed to take notes. I graduated Summa Cum Laude and I took notes for only one class - 10th grade Biology. The teacher required us to turn in our “notes” which we copied from whatever he wrote on the overhead projector. I would have taken the 10% reduction, but I sat 3 feet away from him.
@Hipnip1son I hated teachers like that. I had 2 in high school and one in college. I'd never purchased the very expensive book if I knew all we were going to do was take notes.
As a coach, you hate that too. And it pisses you off more when you specifically tell the players something to do and what will happen if they don’t do it, then they don’t do what you told them to do and the outcome is exactly what you told them it’ll be…
What he said is really not much different to what you see in every day life outside of NFL. Many people go about their jobs and lives with a more or less lackluster and lackadaisical attitude. And therefore you have a huge variety of outcomes given the same opportunities. It all simply comes down to the individual. Ed was and is someone who gets down to business when it's time to do so. And he recognizes the value in being proactive and having a serious work ethic.
Some people are good at taking mental notes. I am one of those people, plus I have poor penmanship. If wrote my chicken scratch on a notepad, I wouldn't be able to read my own writing later. Maybe notes worked for reed, but doesn't mean it will work for all.... also, the ravens had a top ranked defense pretty much through all of reed's entire career. Sounds to me like his teammates found a way to figure it out without notes.
People take for granted the act of writing. I heard a few times in school that the brain doesn't retain most of what you see/hear in a lecture. Of that, much is forgotten within an hour, day, and week. The act of writing not only records the information presented but also engages many other parts of the brain and helps remember more. Even more so than just typing or taking a picture. I don't know how much scientific evidence is out to prove percentages of info retained, but to this day, I write important stuff down. So yeah, if I was a high IQ football player and knew most info was lost in a week (you know the time up to the next NFL game), I'd be pissed too seeing other players taking it for granted that they should have notes. Especially if one person's foul up can alter the success of the team and potentially money.
Tom Brady said in an interview Ed Reed gave him the most difficulty out of all the defensive players he went up against. Heck of a compliment from the GOAT
Payton Manning said the same thing even Belichick was speaking so highly of Ed Reed.
Because he took notes.
Facts! When Brady was asked “who’s the greatest DB you’ve ever played against?” Tom literally didn’t even take one second before immediately saying Ed reed. Ed Reed was a fucking menace
I mean he doesn’t need Tom Brady’s compliment man lol.
@@Stewie-A-Simpsonbecause they all knew ed was going to be where that ball was. Every single time 😂.
Exactly like what Marshall Faulk said in his a football life. He was always taking notes and got the whole offensive room to take notes.
And it def showed…the greatest show on turf was some of the best football I seen growing up….that offense was fun to watch .. and then Kurt Warner gave everyone hope, that “you too,can go pro like me”lol
Thats why you were the best at what you did. Hands down
Troy P is #2 all time go Steelers. Gotta give Ed his flowers though
I'm a Steelers fan, born and raised here, but Ed Reed is the goat no question.
@MrMdozier absolutely not! He was a beast, but 2nd best ever?!

I cracked up so much at that 😂
Ed Reed you are one of a kind.
This dude was rated 98-99 in every madden I remember him being on 😂

Thats what GREATNESS is. YOUNG PEOPLE, (& the rest of us) take notes✍️✍️✍️. So much respect, & Thank You Mr. Reed for EVERYTHING you gave us.
No. There's luck involved as well, but when you're prepared you will be in the right place to take advantage of that luck.

Could've sworn that quote was from Sun Tzu.
I think you're right, it was from Sun Tzu's "The Art of Ed Reed"
Ed Reed played with a PASSION that can't be taught. Born with the heart of a lion
He was amazing
It’s amazing to hear that. Some guys don’t understand the blessing they have
Ed Reed is the definition of a leader.
Warrior..True to the game🏈😎💯
I love Ed Reed’s mindset! He is definitely one of the greatest players to play the game.
Greatest safety I ever had the privilege of watching.
Sean Taylor troy and bdawk also...they the best from.ppst Lott era

a lot of people have the problem of wanting to get better but not being able to understand how to actually achieve that goal

Ed Reed was so fun to watch. This was so cool to hear, it is just like a teacher getting frustrated. Take this $ seriously.
Ed Reed would most definitely do well as a defensive coordinator on any team. And there is no question he could head coach any team as well

What. A. Putz.
He is exactly correct.
Some hustling, some slacking making jerry jones type Mediocracy . Thats why Jimmie Johnson was successful, he stopped all that.
I loved the fact that he was a Raven.
The Quarterback is absolutely more important than other players on the team! That's why they get paid what they do!
