  • This is our second video revolving around the Maxi-Trac compressor from Napa Auto Parts.
    You can find the first video here • Cleanest Pressure Swit... where we modified the compressor to use a pressure switch and a common 1/4in fittings instead of the junk fittings it came with.
    Here we talk about how to integrate this awesome compressor into your overlanding rig and how you can benefit by using a tank. This decreases the compressor run time and makes use of the stored air like a battery for use with air tools for trail repairs and more.
    Below you will find all the components you would need to build your very own On Board
    Air System for your rig.

    Awesome mate this video just confirmed my thoughts on using an unloader valve. Im still going to run a check valve between compressor and tank but no need to sort out a unloader.

    sweet! This is definitely on my list now. I'd love to see a video of where you install the compressor and tank in the colorado. I'm debating between putting both underneath the bed or putting the compressor in the bedside and the tank underneath the bed. Curious to see which route you go.

      It'll get on there at some point. I have a few projects ahead of that.

    Weird mine has no trouble running up to 120 psi. But the output goes down as the psi goes up. As do ALL air compressors. I did a amp draw test on the whole 0-120psi cycle and one can see the draw is highest then drops off as pressure increases and output decreases.
    I have an idea to build a high output 12v compressor that does 10ish cfm at 100cfm continuous duty. Just have to gather all the parts and fabricate it all. Oh and find time haha

    Very helpful just finished all 3 videos you've put out and think ima buy a kings thumper compressor and hook up a tank instead of an arb. Save several hundred dollars haha

    May man, the 6.0l build sounds epic. I have one request! I want to 4l80e swap my 4x4 but the info I’ve found so far looks pretty tricky.

      Couple guys have done it. I wouldn't worry about it until you swap.

      Badland Industries yea, I’ve heard a couple people have done it. Just looking for more info to determine if it’s the route I wanna take. I would think more people would use them but so few are I worry there’s some issues I’m not seeing. I’ve got one in my 2wd LS swap and I love it cuz it’s so sturdy. The goal is a awd turbodiesel. Dig all the canyon content 🤙🏼 thanks

    How hard would it be to wire the power switch to another panel in my truck bed?

    Useful video. Is there anything stopping someone taking a silent compressor - like the shop ones that come on wheels - and installing that in a vehicle? Assuming you can separate the tank from the compressor and route some air hose around the place.

    • @BadlandIndustries
      @BadlandIndustries  2 роки тому +2

      That would largely depend on the source voltage. The maxi trac compressor is quite similar to my California air tools compressor you see behind me.

      The power demand is a big limiting factor. The home style typically draw more than a 2000w inverter can provide. And those are pretty big. So one has to buy a huge Inverter and install huge 2/0 power cables to run it in addition to the compressor.

      Nevermind the efficiency loss converting to AC.

      @@BadlandIndustries Yes technically true...but at the same time the energy created by the alternator makes it pretty negligible and hidden from all but the nerdiest of off readers which there's very few of us haha

    Those reed valves aren't gonna like holding that pressure indefinitely.
    Consider a check valve.

  • @yermoffroad

    you could have left the pressure switch back at the compressor

    • @BadlandIndustries
      @BadlandIndustries  Рік тому

      True, I wanted the pressure on the tank since I had hoped to include a bleed off valve on the compressor.
