- It really doesn't matter how skilled you are. Anyone can be "good" in GTA Online thanks to Rockstar's stupid design choices. In this video we compare GTA Online to it's bare bones older brother's multiplayer, GTA IV.

My friend was once killed by a level 14 outside the car meet for no reason whatsoever. The three of us then went on to hunt him down for the next few minutes. He kept challenging me to one-on-one deathmatches so I assume he actually wanted to fight but I just wanted to teach him a lesson in not icing random people minding their own damn business. He died a good dozen times before giving up and leaving.

GTA IV: Realism was the theme, as the main audience were the older fans of the game from San Andreas and back. Essentially, _Adults._

San Andreas fans actually hated 4 when it came out. They were totally opposite games, with San Andreas being more similar to 5 in terms of it's humor and zany gameplay.

Free aim assist players will still match with you which means that free aim is totally useless. Atomizer wont do crap when people will spam explosives all day and go far away and snipe you through walls via the power of thermal helmets. If you wanna survive GTA online its really simple. You don't engage in its broken and childish pvp.

if they use friends that would not make sense, how could you get better if its just you and 3 people shoot at you at the same time? you cant focus on all of them and all of them shooting at you can take your health away instantly so its more of cheating than to get good. if they all start gunning at you at the same time it dont matter if your the best of the best your still going to die due to getting shot in the back or side while someone is shooting at you from the front.

Facts, it’s so stupid. Imagine a football game but all the players of each team are just lined up literally right in front of their own goal, both teams, just stood there opposite ends of the pitch, just so the other team can’t score a goal, that’s literally what it’s like to fight someone on gta now, both of you just sitting in your facilities having a total standoff, hiding in every possible way and just totally refusing to fight just prevent themselves from losing, it’s so shit

Front windows break wayyy too easily in gta v, in gta 4 the front window would end up with bullet holes and blood all over it and shit.
Makes more sense as well, why the F would you break your own windshield, which gives you visibility and protection from debris and shrapnel from whatever's coming at you? smh

the thing is, GTA series always had this mechanic even dated as early back in GTA: SA. Yet Rockstar somehow removed this detail in GTAV. I get it when they said they were adjusting the game and made it a bit unrealistic for fun, like how you can stay on the bike falling from certain heights. And I also get it that there is no way to make a game that everyone likes, its just impossible to do it.
But as time goes by it proves that some part of us still like this feature.
As far as I see, there are 2 major way to make a game - either you devote your hearts and souls and make a game that is amazing in details and features (e.g. GTA saga before GTA Online), or you make a game where all these I mentioned above doesnt matter but you earn more profits because it is a pay-to-win game (e.g. GTA Online nowadays). the Rockstar that I was familiar with was like the former.
But I think sometimes after the heist update back in 2015, maybe sometimes after they released Armoured Kuruma and Insurgents, seeing how much money that can be milked from this game by just simply releasing those unfair contents, they kinda let themselves go and just became the latter.
Nobpdy cares about your KD, I remember one time I was being killed by another player so I decided to go AFK, I went to a store, bought something, and went back home. The guy was still killing me, he make me travel just with respawns from the Casino to the house close to the lighthouse, at the end he left lmao

I love the feeling of sniping someone off of their MK2, no explosives or ghost or anything special, just a sniper, because the rage from the MK2 griefer afterwards is always amazing lol.

4:23 the best part about taking down helicopters in this game with rockets is that if you miss the “critical shot” you won’t just kill them outright.
You’ll either set fire to the engines.
Explode the entire main rotor.
Explode the tail rotor.
Tear off the entire tail section.
Still remember how this guy was still managing to fly without the tail before eventually losing engine power.
And its not like the new helicopters in GTA Online where it’ll take 20 shots and have no visual damage and then the next shot blows it up regardless if you miss or not. I loved GTA 4s dynamic damage. Like you could feel the helicopter getting weaker and more damaged.

Yeah, with skill you could still slightly control the helicopter with a missing tail rotor.
The copter slowly spins, and you have to press the ascend button when it's leaning to the direction you want to move in.
It takes a lot of skill, and it's very slow. But it's an absolute last resort.
The most fun is when both helicopters are on fire, and it turns into a race for the health pickup at the corner of the airport.
I still remember trying to drive the that pickup, only that have 3 helicopters race overhead at break-neck speed to try and get it whilst all on fire.
One exploded as is was over me, and the other two collided on the health pickup, taking me out in the process. Such good times.

I genuinely enjoyed GTA SA's multiplayer mod more than GTAO.
@@kernelnumbr4810 it was pretty similar in terms of things to do too, minus the heists and missions obviously. It had everything from people fighting in the streets to doing stunts and things like that. There was no grind, no worries about opressor mk2 ruining your day. It was pure fun.

This exactly. I got the most recent Steam version on my laptop a few months ago but I've barely touched it because multiplayer is unavailable, a lot of the songs on the radio are gone, and I literally spent a total of _at least_ 10 hours just trying to downgrade it to play online and trying to add some simple graphical mods to no avail.
GTA IV is backwards compatible with Xbox One (and I'm assuming the Series X as well)

As someone who never played GTA 4, watching the man *vault* over that railing and *roll* when he hit the ground as he pulled his RPG was cool as heck. Meanwhile, my one-man army in GTAO has the aerodynamics of a wet slice of bread whenever he climbs and jumps off of something over ten feet tall.

Kills just don't mean anything in GTAO. In GTA 4, it used to mean that you either outskilled or outplayed your opponent with shooting. Nowadays either you blew him up or he blew you up

@@hokorikera My original post was just a generalization of the pvp in this game from personal experience. Yes you do get into gunfights at time, but people will usually kill others with RPGs, Jets, or Oppressors.

the entertainment of gtao's combat doesn't come from the fighting, it comes from the brainlets that fight you. luring a mk2 into a proxy trap is pretty funny

How to make a good GTA 6. Put all GTA 4 combat mechanics, but better. Make parkour advances. Have good vehicle customization. No pay to win. Have combat more skill based, not just spamming missiles/explosives at someone. And most importantly a wonderful map for everyone; people that like to be in combat and people that love to drive everywhere and not instantly die. And also, no futuristic bs. If it's equal to what is going on with weapons at that time, I'm fine with it, but if it is over powered, let it burn in hell.
Edit: I forgot about adding good story base missions that actually makes sense. And people let my character talk, and not act like my character is being held at gun point.

Yeah, that's where your wishes become unrealistic, sadly. P2W mechanics are incredibly lucrative, there's no way they'll just throw away all that free cash. You can see it with other gamedev companies - once they dip into that honey pot and start selling ingame items, lootcrates and all that bs, they never come back, and every next game they make is almost guaranteed to have similar monetisation mechanics.

@@hokorikera rng is boring, all you do is run around and see who can get a headshot the fastest (which basically nowadays is only exclusive to groups who do “real” rng) , not really fun either when majority of the people there use stuff like those stupid incinerating rounds that set you on fire, and usually people are just shooting rpgs to spawn kill or up n atomizers, or sometimes explosive shotguns aswell.

The Oppressor Mark II and RC Tank have killed combat. Along with Interaction Menu Ammo Buying. That’s the reason people can spam explosives non-stop and never use guns at all.
Before I quit GTA for good, and this was my breaking point, there was a guy who had an apc and the railgun tank. He bullied all the people, including me, who didn't have an adequate enough load out or firepower to take him down, and if they did... He did absolutely everything possible to keep it from harming him. Driving into certain areas to evade the lockons, repeated in and out cover peaking driving back and forth in the cover. And if he did die, oh well he just went to his apc.
Literally can't even play the game without armor around you, doesn't even try to fight in regular boots on the ground combat. GTA is literally just full of clowns who say they're good at the game while they do the cheesiest and ridiculous tactics.

There’s seriously needs to be a anti-lock on missles perk you can have on your vehicles, not on weaponized vehicles dear god, just on vehicles and aircraft.
Exactly like yea homing is fine in missions on npcs but if you're fighting a player you shouldn't be able to go bitch mode and use homing. I think they should implement that or stop homing on any player driven vehicle.

I know I'm about to sound like a gaming Boomer but back in the day gaming wasn't as popular
This meant that either you could play a game effectively or you couldn't and needed to practice
But now that video game sells to numerous people of varying skill levels and varying tolerance of practice companies try to make the game absurdly easy for Mass market appeal
This leads to a game with the depth of a f****** puddle because anyone can do it
They don't need to learn to dive deeper because if they had to do that they might not want to play the game because it's hard
Everyone has to get a trophy remember but if everyone gets a trophy then there is no competition which means nothing is earned which means nothing is special
Maybe you've played a game like dark souls or Ninja gaiden if you have and you've beaten them could you honestly say that you would feel proud of beating them if it were easy
If you didn't have to practice and fail and practice and fail and learn a new technique and then fail using it until you get the input and execution down to a science implemented into your play style and overcome the challenge presented in front of you just to realize you're not even 3% of the way through the game

@Elian Camacho the problem is GTA v community is filled with low iq players I have friends who have low iq and used to make excuses in GTA v but after they started playing with me they learned so many god dam counters and strats. They aren't the best but they are definitely above average.
Imagine how different the game would be if they simply just removed everyone off the map and only showed up on radar if you fired weapons, had a bounty, or were friends. Also, they should really add balanced lobbies. Where maybe only players within 10-20 levels of each other until lvl 120 play in the same lobby but friends could still play together at any rank in an invite only/private lobby.
Also where's the dedicated servers, peer to peer is outdated and unsafe. That would fuck up a lot of modders and cheaters on their asses.
im gonna admit, I've never played GTA 4 once, but that clip where gipsy's fighting off the heli made it look funner than GTA 5

i honestly feel bad for people who didn’t get to experience gta 4 in its prime. everything from the car physics to combat was great.
one thing i remember specifically is there were no parachutes or switching seats in vehicles when the driver bailed so i used to troll my friends by bailing out of helicopters at max height and laugh as they just accept their fate. good times.
Nobody cares about GTA 4 why because it’s had nothing but good story and interesting characters but GTA 5 may have better things but GTA 4 wasn’t even that great
that’s your opinion though. if you never played gta 4 before 5 came out then i can see why you can’t understand why everyone thinks it’s great. 4 blew 5 out of the water story-wise and paved the way for 5 to have a successful multiplayer. obviously 5 has more to do considering rockstars been updating it nonstop since release, but 4 has way more memorable moments and was genuinely more enjoyable to play online because it wasn’t a pissing contest between who had more money like 5 is today.

The best part about GTA 4’s multiplayer combat was gripping your controller as hard as you can, your heart racing, with all your fingers mashing several buttons, while you desperately use TACTICS to eliminate your enemy.

The most basic changes would be to limit sticky bomb throwing angles and tone down tracking missile damage to most vehicles except tanks and other beefy armed vehicles.

Homing were the worst implementation in gta online. Rockets on helicopters yes, but make them homing only on flying targets. Same for Jets.

It wasn’t just the fact that the general combat of gta IV was more in depth and intense that made it better than GTA V. It was the entire community for it, in GTA Online, every player you will come in contact with will result in them shooting at you. In GTA IV, most player interactions consist of one person working with the other in order for everybody to have a genuinely good time.

I’ve figured it out. What we want is gta 4 ”remastered” basicly just better graphics and also new realistic vehicles + dlc’s like the heist update or the diamond casino heist.

GTA online is designed for kids to spend their parents money, it’s not for adults, I don’t play it. If I do play it, it’s a private session with friends. That’s the only fun way to play.
there are so many lock on weapons in the game, every kind of vehicle has them. I have never seen a non-german actually use the MGs of the buzzard in air to air combat. They all use guided missiles, which miss, and then I shred them with the miniguns. Even savage and lazer/hydra cannons arent being used when they should.

I hate oppressors!! Every damn time I try to cruise around I get MFs blowing me up for no reason. They’ll even wait for me to finish wasting all of my 200 dollars (yes I’m in debt) in car mods just to blow me up!
Give me an AP pistol, 2 C4s and the Duke O' Death, with a bit of planning and of course without them really expecting it, I can kill the whole server and then leave without dying, I did this when I started to get frustrated of the game and if you don't give time for them to get the big wepons, is actually quite easy.

im the same way bro i made a vow when i bought my oppressor mk2 that i would only use it to grind and to counter griefers lol. i get my cayo preps done super fast, and if i see some asshole killing the whole lobby in his jet or whatever, it feels good knowing i can blow their ass to pieces on my little flying bike and watch them get triggered and leave the session 😂

GTA V is truly overhated.
Skill in GTA 5 Onlines combat exists but it's a choice to be a good player and use skillfull methods to kill the other player.
First of all Freemode is a joke and so are KDR worriors.
You will rarely find a worthy opponent that is actually good at the game, skilled and experienced what is the reason why the good players made their own communitys where we fight against each other like minded players in fair regulated matches with clear rules in different categories like Dogfight, Sniping [Oneshot rule, Normal at the (Beach, Airport, Docs...)], AW (Beach, Base, City, Island, Canyon...), Buzzard 1v1s (where Homings won't get you rally far) or RNG (Freeaim and Auto-Aim) that allow a certain skill gap to exist and creates a genuine enjoyable playexperience in competitive environments.
When we talk about Freemode (or Noobmode) yes the MK2 is annoying or getting attacked by a jet or a Hunter isn't a great experience an we all raged by getting killed by each of them but considering how many ways there are to take down a jet, heli or MK2 it's not only getting killed or using the explosive sniper.
You can choose to snipe the other player out with regular rounds wich actually requires aim or pre-aim a RPG to take him down or engage in a Dogfight.
Same goes for a lot of things in this game except for the situations where people just make kills with Godmode Glitches and Wall bridges or the overpowered RC vehicles.
Even though I'm probably just speaking for 2.5% of the community as a whole imo this video is a miss representation of the actual pvp part of this game and isn't reflecting every side of the story equally wich is due to the lack of experience the creator of this video had with the actual skilled PvP part of the game wich you can clearly see when he's not even using a sniper in 1st person and the slow reflexes he has in a combat situation.
I don't want to hate part of it is just an observation of the playstile in the video an my perspective who's been playing GTA online develop since the beginning and has seen the ups and downs of the game.

Freemode is ass and most of yall are not good enough to snipe someone out of a helicopter or a jet or to take them down with a pre-aimed RPG and that's why we have explosive ammunition for the sniper to take down Jets or MK2 against helicopters so the noobs and grinders stop complaining about the game all the time because the are to lazy to learn how to play it properly.
No-one that plays GTA Regularly doesn't make money glitches because why should you play fair in a rigged game and have to rebuild your account every time a new version of the game comes out.
To say there is no take on this just ignorant because there is a variety of opinions and experiences we all have is a take on this and there is most never only one part of the story.

I really forgot how fluid the motion was in GTA IV. Obviously it looks a little stiff and janky because the game is from 2008, but the way the character rolls and turns and backs out of aiming all feels so much less robotic that in V.

You actually had to stay still and plan your attacks back then by even going on a roof or something where it’ll take them much longer to spot you and you’ll have a clear shot because then they’ll have to stay still to try to find you. It was much more fun and I have better memories of back then sniping compared to the absolute hand sweating, forehead dripping, tryhard mess that it is now.

That will just be giving the opponent the advantage, you have to drag-scope to kill him and not only that hit him 2 times (if above lv 120). It is not about being lucky, I assume that you haven't really sniped anyone with good strafes at all due to what you said about "being lucky" and "running into your shot". The whole point of strafing is to avoid getting shot by the opponent and since you cannot run into his shots, you have to drag-scope in other words flick your joystick (or mouse). Standing still is like being a sitting duck, all you have to do is just be faster than your opponent, but if you aim at the same time then will you kill each other at the same time? - Homing missile (Press to win weapon)
- Explosives and explosive rounds (Requires no skill, just basic knowledge and common sense)
GTA IV Combat:
- Actual fucking skill
- "Military" tactics
- Knowledge of map
- Knowledge of vehicles
- Explosives aren't guaranteed way to kill someone, unless they are on a vehicle.

It’s a matter of preference. You compared jumping from one tall building to another to a clip of someone jumping down on a ledge and either way you used an explosive on a helicopter. In gta online you have a story going on and buy whatever weapons you like that you keep instead of having to find weapons so again a preference and not something that deals with quality or what makes someone better (especially when you memorize what weapon is where). It’s not rockstar that’s the problem it’s the players, blaming rockstar doesn’t change the fact that the players are the ones that like to fight a certain way and I don’t get why you put so much emphasis on oppressors when either way a player will just get another flying vehicle with explosives so just say homing launchers in general.
If you’re gonna make a video like this atleast be objective and fair about the points you’re making instead of showing things in a biased perspective.

I fully agree with you and it's refreshing to see this topic being covered on UA-cam. GTA IV Online played a large inspirational part for when I was making maps for GTA Online. I sincerely hope that the next GTA will revert back to a more "boots on the ground" type of combat instead of the absurdity we have right now.

I still to this day, despite all the added aircraft and their upgrades, miss the good old days of annihilator supremacy. I remember practicing for hours in single player shooting in first person with no reticle just so I could strafe in online.
You could always tell a true pilot was after you when they knew how to circle a target and keep their shots accurate simultaneously.

The fact the gta pvp is so unfair is why I like it, it truly shows that if someone is using mk2’s and lazer when I’m on foot or in a worse vehicle and still beat them that I’m the better player. I feel extremely rewarded when I kill griefers as well because I know that they’re terrible people who need to experience some karma.
Remember most vehicles in GTA Online survives from explosive like MOC, Terrobyte, Insurgent, pickup + Custom, Nightshark, khanjali, APC etc.
