Two guitarists who changed the way guitar is played today. They both showed what was possible on guitar in their own way. I have met both of them on more then one occasion and they are two of the nicest guys you could ever meet.
I grew up listening to early Dixie Dregs albums (vinyl) and any music released by Steve Morse. He has grown older now and his style and playing may have mellowed over the years. But by some of the comments below these newer generations of players just truly don’t understand or appreciate what a musical / guitar genius Steve Morse is and what his contributions and influence to many guitarists and to the state of what’s musically possible have been. Any guitarist should feel honored and privileged to be on the stage with Steve Morse and the great Paul Gilbert certainly has respect! ☮️
True story, Steve Morse is a legendary guitarist. I learnt so much from The Dixie Dregs and Steve's solo output. He has a lovely tone on his Ernie Ball guitar. Paul Gilbert has also been in the guitar scene for a long time. Great players.
If you saw Paul Gilbert walking down the street, and you did not know that he is among the best guitarists in the world, you probably would not guess it.
Both great players. I love Paul's humility and general love for music and the guitar. Dude could plug into a peavy backstage and make it happen like no other
I'd love to hear Paul and Steve with Satriani on an upcoming G3. Morse may have slowed down but he still has the ability to send shivers down spines with his sense of melodies and phrasing. Gilbert is still amazing as well. This video gives me hope that great guitar playing is not something that fades away: It just gets deeper.
Steve is my all time guitar hero, with the coolest sound and master of melodic solos, Paul is another guitar master always a pleasure to watch and hear.Great video.
Two of the greats hanging out just as if it was you and your buddy in the garage or down to the basement we're on the back porch just having a great time
Steve is such a humble guy. He could have totally gone firestorm picking to try and one up Paul but he goes the melodic route instead. Classy guys both. If anyone has not seen some of Steve's early stuff, check out The Bash by the Dixie Dregs, or Tumeni Notes from his solo stuff. That man can hold his own with anyone and has near unrivaled picking skills.
I would like to understand the mechanics of playing like this great players, how do they play such variety and speed, I know they practice a lot but maybe their brains work at different level, both are legends
First: they are exceptional talented. 2nd: they practiced and performed on the highest level for decades. Their daily routines were probably more than 4-6 hours. Talent meets training 👍🎵
Morse’s phrasing is gorgeous. Yeah, he can shred too, but I love his sense of melody. Not the greatest sound on this video for him. 🤷 Both these guys are first class players and both very down to earth. /respect X2
Two of my all time fave players-But-A tune like this is really not their forte: This piece calls for a sweeter tone that lets the chords and riff sing out clean, more like a harp (I.e.: Hendrix, SRV, EJ, Etc.). Not too much overdrive that drowns out the articulation of the notes...
Two talented players. I respect them immensely, but I can't help but hate this. Their tones, in particular, are just absolutely mismatched to this classic Hendrix tune. I understand it's all subjective, and I'm not critical of their abilities, but this just doesn't do anything for me.
Got chills from Morse's first solo. He's feeling is astonishing. LEGEND!
Only Paul Gilbert can wear a shirt that says Paul Gilbert can't shred.

I don't think there is anyone in the world happier about playing a guitar than Paul Gilbert.

I know..he was another great guitar player
Steve morse influenced john petruci. do we need to say anything more????
Any one ask john petrucci why and how he shifted to music man!
yeah, it's just you who knows how good he is. you're special

God I hope I would recognize him. Or Steve. They actually walk this earth…
@W. Or a computer programmer!
Not to mention that he sounds like David Letterman when he talks!
Yeah his shirt even says so.
@@annunacky4463 yes bow down to your gods and worship
2 of the most refined guitarists in terms of right hand technique and left and right hand synchronization
Deep Purple achieved its highest form of artistry and musicality because of Steve Morse! Salute Melodic Guitar King!
Paul is hell of a nice guy and a fabulous guitarist, a rear combination . Steve U are still awesome . Both Great artists and both HUMBLE to the core.
Beautiful playing by two of my favs....💚🎸
The phrasing of paul gilbert, here, is simply unbelievable 😨
Both great players. I love Paul's humility and general love for music and the guitar. Dude could plug into a peavy backstage and make it happen like no other
Thank you for giving us this moment in time..

In Morse We Trust!!🤘
Thank you for posting. I met Paul at a clinic many years ago. He was one of the nicest, coolest peeps I've ever met, and he hasn't changed...💚🎸
I loved the "dregs".. killer band !!!
Paul is getting more Jeff goldblum with every day. A welcome nerdy geekiness in a world of serious rock guitar stereotypes
I would say more "Sheldon" like!
@@jedd.5407 You got it right
2 of my all time favs...
How i love you for the Bests Times and for the Bests Times )))
Dang they’re having a great time!!
Heaven to me
Exelent performance 👏 ❤ 👏 ❤
Ya know something cool is happening when Paul Gilbert is slack-jawed staring at it..!
Like Steve Morse’s solos…!

Steve Morse...
Steve is cool. Him and lukather did a clinic
You’re looking at two of the best ever.
Wow! Thanks for that! Lucky to get that in just before covid hit!

Idk if it's a factor, but I know he was having tendinitis problems... Probably around this time period. I could be wrong
Whoa.
Paul Gilbert can't shred... ahahahahaha. Nice T-shirt
In an alternate universe:
-Paul Gilbert can't shred
-lil wayne wrote technical difficulties
😂
Nice little jam!! Lovely!!
Cool, check out the old hybrid Music Man Amps on stage. Sold state pre-amps, tube output. Should have never sold my 65w combo 1-12.
Steve is the chromatic master.
i love both of them to bits but paul stole the show hands down
Paul Gilbert can't shred.
And?
@@deekos4578 That's the text on his t-shirt....
@@MrClassicmetal Ah!!
Love listening to Steve Morse! They both kicked ass on that song by Jimi!
Did Paul played part of YYZ riff by Rush in the end? Anyway, Steve's solo is melodic and soothing
I like Blackmore
Well.....the writing on Paul's shirt, is not true...😉
Paul t shirt 😂
Cool shirt
Are the MusicMan amps behind them new or old ones? I had an RD65 head... wish I still did... or do...
New, for sure
morse has such a nice tone
Now thats the difference of melodic lick and fast licks..steve more!!se..🤘

Wow..would you like triple sauce delay with your tone sir?
Couple with that he is playing on either a wet/dry/wet rig or stereo (not sure)
Where can I get that T Paul?
Muito Bom.
Paul needs to eat something. He's gonna blow away.
Morse’s phrasing is gorgeous. Yeah, he can shred too, but I love his sense of melody. Not the greatest sound on this video for him. 🤷 Both these guys are first class players and both very down to earth. /respect X2
That is not the easiest chord progression to jam over... good job:)
detils guitar paul
Jimi please
Paul should have a percussionist on hand at all times. I hear drumming in his leads
His teeth are a drum set
St first I thought Paul lost his shredding edge
Then I kept listening
Well finally steve didn't play with Phil Keggy
Is that a skid row song
An improvised version of little wing
bruh...
Morse is a beast but whats wrong with his tone here?
Too much reverb or something
Paul
Gilbert
Cant
Hendrix
Right?.. I love Paul and he has so much talent but..
If Paul Gilbert burns any more calories playin guitar his super thin arms will vanish😀💪
If only jimmy was there
Morse has more feeling in his playing ... Gilberts skill is nasty but no feeling ...
Paul: 10 Points, Steve 10000 Points!
this can't be steve morse, his biceps aren't visible
I don’t understand Paul Gilbert’s Ibanez or his style of playing . I never did . Don’t you think out of respect Steve Morse should have went first
Скучно.. зачем все это после Джими?
Steve Morse is a hell of a guitar player, but his guitar has always bugged me. I just find it really ugly.
Steve was tasteful, Paul was wasteful

Wtf was that ? I want my 5 mins back
Paul Gilbert is the best guitarist I don't like very much.
That's actually funny. Can I use that? 😄
Ma sono umani??? Ne sanno ehh!!!!
im bored
Give me Jimi version any day boring ..
Paul’s tone is absolutely dreadful in this video. It’s like he or someone tried to dial in the worst time possible in the history of guitar.
Two talented players. I respect them immensely, but I can't help but hate this. Their tones, in particular, are just absolutely mismatched to this classic Hendrix tune.
I understand it's all subjective, and I'm not critical of their abilities, but this just doesn't do anything for me.
Gilbert unfortunately is proof that playing guitar very good doesnt make you sonically appealing.
To much widdling much prefer Hendrix for me
someone is horribly out of practice
That was annoying!
All these guys do is take a lick and run it 3 octaves just another style
It's no harder just different
Steve can’t play rhythm.
Wow. Steve can’t play rhythm.
