That sounds more like an abuser than a situationship. I think he was a sociopathic abuser and was testing your boundaries, reactions, and self-worth to determine if he could control you in a relationship by overpowering you, ignoring your non-verbal communications, and lowering your self-esteem. They're often drawn to bright, kind people because they both want to 'own' / admire them and destroy them because of jealousy / self-hatred. Good riddance!
(continued) what he wanted was your total unwavering attention and devotion to him like a god, total acceptance of his abuse / neglect, for you to get upset and emotional whenever he did something so he could feel in-control of you, and for you to get jealous and chase / beg him just for him to abandon you whenever he wants. basically he was into you but not in a healthy way and he wanted to replay whatever dynamic his parents probly had with him, with you- unpredictable and stressful. those kinds of relationships can kill you inside over time. definitely don't fall for it. typical abuser behavior, but sometimes it's hard to recognize it when you're emotionally invested.
