After some shenanigans with my #suspension and U-bolts, what better way to test out the setup than a solo trip to the notorious monkey gum?
Overall I don't think it's a very tough track. Technical, yes, but not hard. Once you get past the 2nd washout, it's straightforward. Most of the track is pre-packed by others, just minor adjustments needed here and there. No damage to my car other than a scraped rock slider or two. If you're attempting this track in reverse, I think almost any car could do it, as you'll be driving down the washouts rather than winching up them. Just be mindful of #Mintbush trail, as it gets a bit tippy in places.
I'd say it's medium at best. I also found out during editing that my front left locking hub isn't doing the job. So I guess I did the whole track in 3 wheel drive. Now that it's all fixed, I'd be keen to go again to see if a winch is even necessary with a twin locked vehicle.
One of the regrets was that I didn't see the #lookout at the top of the track, but I'm sure I'll be back... I know of a #prado with a point to prove.

Getting better at the endings , great Vid I am enjoying your sense of humor and seeing another 76 getting out there being used and being modified.
You watched all the way to the end? That's some 360p dedication. Have my first ever heart rating!
@@ridiculousthings4x4 Why would I not watch until the end , glad to be your first heart , I've always watched them all until the end love your sense of humor is similar to mine and vids always entertains keep them coming!
Good to see the 76 Series flexing better after removing the anti-roll bars and changing the spring plates. Only question it raises for me is . . . "How does it handle on the open road and around town without the anti-roll bars?"
To be honest I haven't noticed any difference at all. I took it through kangaroo valley giving it some effort and it felt like it always has. You can see that in the sped up boring part towards the beginning
Good stuff mate, only found your channel yesterday. Love it. Cheers Steve
Thanks Steve, I think we might have met at a Drifta thing with Shad? I might be mistaken though. Cheers
@@ridiculousthings4x4 You may be right mate, Heatherbrae?
Yeah that's the one
Just discovered your channel, nice vids. Am i the only one noticing something strange on your front axle? 25:30 or around it is very obvious. You must have a front locker to kep that front right crawling and a busted left hand cv or un locked free hub as even in the air it doesn’t move at all🤨
Good obs 👍 yeah, I had an issue with one of my manual hubs. I mentioned it in the video description. Goes to show you can do monkey gum in 3 wheel drive
Great video. Enjoy your directness 😆
Thanks Konrad
That looked like the 100% correct tyre pressure. I'm guessing it was below 20psi. Do you remember what you were running ?
I usually put 18psi in all 4 for most occasions, and maybe 16 on sand with scope to lower if I need it. don't take my word for it though, as it'll vary depending on how heavy your car is.
He's a god kid.
I've watched enough of your vids to know you like to do things differently because you're some sort of space aged engineer type...are you going to fix the front wheel track as Toyota made them too wide in relation to the rear?...
This might disappoint you, but I may or may not have used wheel spacers on the 76. Contrary to what the internet says, if you fit the right ones properly, there's no real detriment. $8k for a certified rear diff upgrade seems a bit insane to me. As usual, don't follow my example ;)
@12:35 doesn't look twin locked?
Hub wasn't locked in as in the video description. Didn't know until editing
One advantage of having a spotter/navi I guess
Imagine how easy it would have been 33% more wheels driving!
You are too funny!!
非常酷 我很羡慕你 在中国LC76价格太高 玩不了 我到了澳洲一定要整一辆来解解毒
Sell those shorts. Get some additional money and buy a folding saw.
I kept the shorts and upgraded to a Milwaukee chainsaw. Maybe when I'm a famous UA-camr I'll resort to selling used clothing 🤤
Do you have a Husband/Wife Boyfriend/Girlfriend?
You always go solo. My wife will not drive off road, but if I'm going, she always wants to come with. Has even learnt how to run the winch a little bit. She's a girly girl, but loves being out in nature. I also understand that I don't film my trips, and being on the internet is not for everyone.
I go solo because I'm an antisocial hermit that cringes at the thought of someone seeing me film something. Plus, comfort isn't that high up on my priorities list, so the whines of princesses gets old after a while. See Fraser island vid for reference
