Yay to leave in conditioner. I used leave in conditioner when I was natural, I used it on my relaxer and I now use it on my locs. Locs is hair too you just got to use the one that is beneficial to your needs. Thanks for sharing Keisha.

Not if you mist it and not use it too much

For me... I use no conditioners or oils. I use shampoo once a month. And I water rinse my hair in between. I don’t twist or manipulate. But however I make sure my locs are separated. I spray with rose water everyday to hydrate my hair. My hair is strong and healthy and I have no lint in my locs

Some people (mainly those with medium porosity hair) can get away with doing this. Unfortunately, those with low porosity hair and maybe high porosity hair have to use more than water to moisturize our hair and keep it moisturized

I have a mixture in my spray bottle of water, leave in conditioner, and aloe vera juice. After I spray down my locs I use my oil mixture to seal

@Priska_Kelly yes it leaves my locs feeling soft and moisturized. I want to give rose water a try to see if that gives the spray a lil boost

I’ve never used leave in conditioner on my locs , but i think it’s okay to do as long as it’s not a heavy, cream based leave in. Like you said, lightweight and water based are probably the best, and even then you might wanna only use a little bit to prevent buildup . I would def be down to try this leave in conditioner !

I just started using a leave in conditioner on my locs solely because I like the smell. It is water based, but I just add a little bit to a bottle of water so I'm not putting much product in my hair.

I feel like the more mature your locs are, you can experiment more. If you have starter locs less is more. I had locs for 3 years, took them out the redo them 2 times lol. Now with baby locs, and my bang which I kept, I don't do or use as much when my locs matured. It really depends on self.

I didn’t use leave in conditioner for the first 5 years of having Sisterlocks. Since then I’ve accepted that my ends will always be loose and curly and so why not??? K Thing is I use it in the shower just like regular conditioner concentrating on my ends and I rinse it out. I don’t use regular conditioner at all and leave in washes out easy. I like how my hair feels. Feels stronger to me.

I agree. I use Bamboo Silk (water based) a bit of African Healing Oil (Taliah Wajeed) and a little bottled water mixed together. Awesome moisture 😎

I use tgin butter cream daily moisturizer. I take a little and mix it in with some water, rose water, and oil. my hair feels so moisturized. I’ve bleached and dyed my locs more than twice since I've been loc’d (2020). this is the only thing that I’ve tried that kept my hair moisturized and feeling soft. I also wash my hair with keratin shampoo and Dr. Bronners peppermint Castile soap.

to each its own, I know leave in conditioner works beautifully for some people with locs but unfortunately it left my hair crunchy :( I recommend rose water for others with the same issue as me

I use leave-ins that come in spray bottles, then I use rose water for extra moisture to avoid build up. I oil once a week.

Thank you beautiful Orisha for reiterating this🥰. I too have waist length locks and I use Carol's daughter's Black Vanilla leave in conditioner. My locks are extremely low-porisity, so anything heavy will just sit like a helmet, lol.
Side note, I definitely want to try that conditioner though, I love smelling edible 🧁😋

I recently started with coils and I’ve had an issue with unraveling. I’m in the military and yesterday when it rained on my hair going to my car I was looking CRAAAZYYYYY after lunch. Last night I used a leave in conditioner with Shea butter and my hair looks 100% better. I didn’t plan on using it but I’ve used, flaxseed , black castor oil and none of them held. I’ll need to do what I need to do so my boss isn’t looking at me like 👀👀👀. 😂😂😂

Me, NAH! A leave-in Conditioner is a detangling agent and I already have a problem with my retwist becoming undone lol. I thinks it’s more for loose naturals. I just prefer to use Rose water and oils when I moisturizer a couple times a week.
Side note: Sis, I lovvvve your hair and have been an admirer for YEARS💚💚

Answer ( Yay)... I need it as well as deep conditioning, every two weeks. My locs get very dry and I have to get into the core of my locs. Otherwise, I’ll have scarecrow locs (straw). My hair is so thick it’s “my” must. Then I have wash my hair in the bathtub to thoroughly flush my locs out. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Belmont 216 have you tried just oiling your locs every day or every other day? My boyfriend doesn’t oil his hair and it breaks off so bad. He put conditioner in it this week and retwisting it was a mess. I oil my locs whenever I need to and I don’t have near as much breakage even with postpartum shedding.

It’s funny because in the summer I use literally no product not even water because my locs are full of sweat. But in the winter, I use a water based deep conditioner and use rose water and vit E oil once a week because my roots turn to straw. ACV rinse every 6 months though and I don’t retwist because I like the thickness. Thanks for the advice sis!
