This made me cry. I completely relate. One year ago I lost my 23 year old son. His passing has brought me to gardening. I since bought a home and now creating my own safe haven. My gardening safe haven. Creating an ecosystem of not only beautiful flowers, trees, shrubs, but also a vegetable garden. Gardening is so under appreciated. The beauty and peace it gives you and brings you in tune with the earth is just amazing
I am so sorry to hear about your son. How heart breaking. I hope you can find peace in your beautiful garden. I agree with you that gardening is so under appreciated. Thanks so much for sharing your story.
I lost my 3 years old son to cancer 3 years ago and started to create a memory garden for him. Working with soil, planting flowers and trees helped me to cope with my loss. First I was planting without any plan in mind. But then I have replanted a lot of plants, and the garden starts to emerge.
"Beauty matters. It's worth the effort to create a beautiful home and a beautiful garden . . . If you don't complain, if you don't spend money you don't have, and you don't compare yourself to others, and you surround yourself with beauty, you start to realize how magical life really is." This resonated so deeply, it made me cry (and I'm not a crier). Truly profound wisdom.
Thanks so much Susan. I think it's easy to forget how much influence our surroundings have on our well-being. Gardens are so important in my humble opinion. Thanks so much for your note.
I cried also. Every word resonates. I used to be a believer and I find my faith wavering, but certainly beauty especially in a garden brings God to mind. Every morning I walk into my garden and delight in seeing how my plants are doing.
Such meaningful words. It brought me to tears. My garden is also my escape from disappointing situations in life. A garden is God's miracle for healing❤
I just loved this video! I am a 62 year old disabled woman, having used crutches for 50 years. All my “gardening” has been in pots, but I always longed to really be down on the ground playing in the dirt. My late husband always did the “in the ground” gardening. Well after years of being a widow, and regaining some health, I pulled out my wheelchair that was stowed away in the closet. It is now my gardening chair, wagon, etc. I putz around on one crutch, pushing my muddy chair with my supplies. I get down on the ground, dig by hand or use an auger and drill I bought for the big holes. It has been life changing! I’m making a ton of mistakes, but having such fun. And I can feel how much stronger my body is from the movement. God’s creation is amazing and I long to keep learning and improving my small space. And my sweet kitty is there with me as I dig. What more could I ask for? 😊
I am an African woman married and living in Europe for almost 20yrs. Gardening is my passion, my therapy, my service. I get so much psychological feedback from my garden seeing it transforming yearly. Apart from appreciating GODs creations my garden brings me close to GOD every time I work on it while listening to music and sermons!,
Beautiful video. My husband died 3 mos ago and it is now February and I cannot wait until spring! My garden is where I find so much peace and renewal. ❤
Gardening definitely helps me getting through some tough times. 2016 I’ve lost 2 my beloved dogs, 2020, I lost both of my parents, due to COVID i wasn’t able to travel to go to their funerals. Gardening helped me dealing with all the losses. By growing something beautiful and special, in their memories, saw them grew and flourish, it helped with that heavy knot in my heart. ❤
When you think you struggling with more than you can handle ( lost both my dogs too), you learn that someone else is dealing with worse. I'm truly sorry for your losses.
I'm so sorry for all your loss! I can only imagine how hard it was to not be there at your parents passing. Both of my parents have passed, but I was able to be there when they did. Send hugs!
This was lovely. My husband suffered with PD and dementia. Gardening helped me cope during caregiving, and it brought peace and joy to us both. He’s with God now, and I find healing digging in the soil, moving plants around and planning new beds. I care for his beloved berry patch, and dug up lawn for a pink dogwood surrounded by geum in his memory. Thank you for sharing.
Goodness your story is my story! I’m a self taught gardener as well. I learned all I could on my own. After my brother died at an early age, my garden became my therapy. A few years later I too went to England and fell in love. I wondered why couldn’t American Gardens be like the English. It didn’t matter where I went, the villages, Sissinghurst, Hidcote Gardens, Barnsley house, Penelope Hobhouse’s Tintinhill Gardens, everywhere was so beautiful!! I came back with a thirst for more gardening knowledge. I immersed myself in garden books and created a beautiful garden. I loved it so much, I became a garden/ landscape designer. When my mother passed away, I created a memorial garden as a tribute to her. I myself was diagnosed with early stage of breast cancer and my garden was the only place I needed to be in. I retired a couple years ago, have moved and am in the beginning of year two in creating a new garden. What God has helped me create, I’m so thankful for! My garden has helped me heal mentally, emotionally and physically! My garden, my piece of heaven here on earth…❤
I couldn't have said it any better. Making and working in a garden is an escape and my happy place amid life's struggles. Looking forward to following you in this new gardening season.
Amen to your message and beautiful gardens. Gardening has always been spiritual for me. The closer we get to nature, the closer we get to God. It opens our eyes to so much and brings us peace.
All my life I’ve wanted to be somewhere else, live somewhere else. Through my garden I’ve learned to love where I am as long as I can lose myself in nature and the gardens my husband and I create. A sanctuary in a sea of troubled waters around us. I know I’m not alone thanks to videos like yours, thanks.
I can relate to that. If it makes you feel any better until I moved to Florida (from Europe) I had no idea how truly difficult gardening can be. I'm old now, so the long, brutally hot summers are too much for me, I can only hope along with everyone else that the plants are strong enough to survive yet another brutal summer. But I love being able to grow tropical herbs and fruits and every year gives me another opportunity to find ways to create shade and find ways to keep the garden thriving. Like you say, the troubled waters around us make me appreciate my garden even more - it is both a joy and a privilege to have one.
Absolutely true, I live in South Australia and every morning I go and look either at my veggie garden or see what flowers are around It makes you feel in a better mood watching the bees pollinate and listening to the magpies warbling Hope you have a good day
I just came across your channel. At 5:02...I related to you on a deep level! In 2018 I was diagnosed with breast cancer in one breast; Invasive lobular carcinoma. (I chose a double mastectomy for preventative) Since then, I have been into redecorating my home and now gardening. At the beginning of Covid in 2020, we planted a huge vegetable garden. (I never had a green thumb) It was bliss and therapeutic. You're so right, it's more than flowers and veggies. 💝❤
I started my adventure with gardening after living in London for several years. I had never paid attention to landscapes, nature or living in a healthy environment before. Now I live in Poland and I miss the wonderful British parks and gardens. Thanks to my new passion I stopped being afraid of spiders: they too are part of this beautiful planet and have equal rights to a good life:) The beauty of nature teaches love and acceptance. 🐝🌳🌷
It's funny how spending time in nature gives us a new appreciate for all the things that make up the cycle of this incredible life. It is my dream to visit Poland one day. That is where my Grandparent immigrated from. It is a beautiful country. Thanks for being here.
@@GardenMoxiedo you accept any challenges to help design a garden? I’m on the volunteer staff of my church’s exterior Landscape. We are all volunteers and not sure what will work on our land in the city. We certainly would love to have it to be healing and bring joy. Perhaps, you would make some suggestions or help us plan.
this is a very beautiful comment and so very true Things we fear we attempt to kill because we don't realize that everything is connected and working in nature we learn these things naturally because we are nature We are not apart from it and the more we shelter ourselves from things the less we grow So as you nurture the earth and the garden you were also nurturing yourself A few months ago I started working in a grocery store in the floral department which is actually quite large It would help to quell some of my desires of gardening which I could at the time and had to do so for over eight years Having a garden is therapeutic it puts you in touch with all that is working with the earth is scientifically proven to heal the body it's called grounding or earthing The benefits are priceless and for someday truly are life-saving
This video was incredibly relatable for me. I started gardening after an immediate surgery that although deemed 'succesful' was out of the blue and the aftermath extremely traumatic. I'm originally from the UK and although haven't lived there since a child I completely understand people's reactions to the gardens there. Thank you so much for making & sharing this video, it will help a lot of people.
I know how you feel about things being traumatic. I hope you are well. When things like this happen, you realize how fragile life can be. Thanks for your note.
Thank you for this. I haven’t been in a good place mentally for a long time. I’ve been forced to downsize and live in a rough neighborhood and barring winning the lottery, I’ll end my days here. The only happiness I have is a tiny bit of yard surrounded by a chain link fence. I plant trees and flowers and many die because of our harsh climate. But I’m not going to stop. I’m going to research what plants and flowers are native to this environment and figure out how to design a garden. I’ll be watching your videos on this journey. 🌺💕
Wow. Your words are tough to read friend. I am sorry to hear about your struggles and pray you find peace. That little bit of yard is a blessing. I don't have any words that can makes things better, but I can tell you that you will be in my prayers. 💚
My sentiments are the same. Surrounding your self with beauty with the help of our Creator is no comparison to money, job, or shopping- unless it’s for plants. Gardening is now my love & passion since COVID. It has been an emotional life savior! Thanks for sharing your journey & so good to hear you are cancer free! Your yard is amazing!
I had cervical cancer. Remission now. Very relatable video. Made me cry. They say time heals all wounds but I'm convinced that nature has been the salve all along
I am an avid gardener and have written down quotes that tried to explain to others what gardening means to me. You put into words how much more it really is. Thank you.
Love your story, your story is my story. Almost , I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2019 thank God !!! I was in remission from cervical cancer for 16 years, wow 😯, long story short I said Thank God because if the cervical cancer hadn’t came back they would not have found the lung cancer. Yes I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer & never had a single symptom 😲 I had chemo & radiation & my garden is my refuge, much smaller & I’m always looking for a reason to dig😊🥰
Oh dear friend. Your story is a hard story. I am sorry to hear of your struggles. I am going to keep you in my prayers. Thank God for our gardens. Thank you for your note. 💚
So awe inspiring! I love the phrase “ bloom where you’re planted”! We might not be where we think we want to be right now,but let’s make the best of where we are today, your change/chance can be right around the corner! I’m so happy you’re well. And thank you for being so selfless in sharing your story. Peace -
Thank God you're doing well. Your video was so inspiring. I knew even at a young age, how healing a garden can be. You're right, we need more gardens, a lot more, both private and public. It's my dream to visit England's great gardens. I enjoy your videos, please keep inspiring us! Thank you.
In the spring of 2020 when covid lockdown and everything first happened, the local school shut down and the school community garden was left without caretakers. We live next door to the local school, so the kids and I gardened our hearts out that spring and summer of 2020 and we learned so much. We watered every day and weeded, and when the whole world was going crazy, we were outside with our hands in the dirt and it was honestly amazing. Things happen for a reason and that school garden kept me sane and grounded and gave me somewhere to focus my anxieties and worries. We still volunteer there from time to time, but things have returned to normal. I'll always cherish the place. ❤️ Anyway, I love your garden and channel. Your voice is also very soothing. I subscribed!
Your message is so beautiful and awe-inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing. I love your garden and am creating a peaceful space too. Blessings to you
My husband and I bought a traditional cottage on a bare 1/4 acre block of land 23 years ago in hot and arid Perth in West Australia. Everyone told us to subdivide the block so another house could be built on it. We envisioned a lush garden filled with different garden rooms. Over two decades later, and it is still an ongoing labour of love, forever changing and being transformed. We have had our fair share of failures but also learnt what works and which plants can thrive in our harsh hot dry summers. The garden is by necessity a mix of hardy natives, Mediterranean plants and drought tolerant subtropicals. It is filled with ponds, meandering paths, pergolas, shady sitting and dining spots, trees, shrubs and under planting. We designed the garden and built all the hard structures ourselves, created the lighting plan and installed it, and filled the garden focal points, with sculptures and pots etc, for added interest. Most importantly, It is filled today with many species of birds, lizards, frogs and insects, who have made it their home, as we use no chemicals. We always visit gardens when we travel around other countries in the world, and return home with a bunch of new ideas and plans. Our garden is our oasis and place of calm and keeps us in touch with the natural world.
I'm just beginning my garden creation. We moved here last year. There's so much to do! It is truly a labor of love. Thank you for sharing this story. (P.S.- My husband and my two sons are engineers, but one went on to become a radiation oncologist.)
Wow! That is something that your husband and 2 sons are engineers and one became a radiation oncologist! My kind of people!! I remember starting my garden like it was yesterday. I'm excited for you!
Visiting gardens in England has been on my 'to do' list forever. I need to make it happen and soon. I pour over my English Gardens magazine and look at all the tours they offer and dream. I ask myself that same question, "why don't we have gardens like this everywhere in the US?" Why don't we have garden television programs that encourage everyday people to plant beauty as they do in the UK? I am often told I have a beautiful garden but they follow that up with "that must take so much work", and as you say, it is work but it is so calming in a crazy world that it doesn't feel like work, it feels more like therapy.
You hit the nail on the head. I think non-gardening people look at the garden as more work. I just don't feel like that. It is so relaxing to be outside gardening. Traveling to the UK was such a blessing. It truly is a beautiful land of gardens.
Oh Sue, I am just here tearing up and feeling like I need to give you a hug friend! Your garden is not only an escape for you but is is also an inspiration to so many others like me (And I know I speak for many!) Thank you so much for opening up to us and sharing this part of your journey.
I have been gardening in my garden for the full 30 years I have lived here. I have planted, decided it doesn’t work, dug, moved plants all over. I planted fir sun, theming it became shady so scheme shifted. Always learning, always experimenting, always broadening aesthetic eye. An England garden tour is top of my bucket list,
You just put into words everything I feel about my own garden. It is my sanctuary, my safe haven, my escape. I too was blessed to go to the UK. It was in the winter and Christmas time and there was beauty every where. Even in the cities. Whether it was flower pots, window boxes or small courtyards. There was beauty everywhere ❤ Love this video so much. Thanks for sharing
That was an awesome video. Thank you for that. I too have come to the realization in my 40 odd years that what makes life wonderful is all these other things - ability to decorate and funish your house to suit your taste, ability to cook tasty food that you desire at any time you want, to be able to build a garden or space that suits you and where you feel happy - essentially the ability to bring forth those ideas that lay dormant within you and use that to create a cozy space for yourself. Education, career, etc. are important but only for helping you bring in some money and survive in this world - they will not necessarily give you all the other things that you want. For self-actualization it is these other skills that are really important.
Your garden is my absolute favorite of all the UA-camrs I follow. I try to mimic this style in my own smaller, less flat yard. Hedges are my favorite thing. I am visiting Sissinghurst in May as well as the Chelsea Flower Show. I can’t wait!
Thank you. Oh...how exciting your trip will be. One of my dreams is to attend the Chelsea Flower show. I have seen photos of the city decorated with all the floral displays. It looks like a fantasy world. Safe and happy travels to you friend!
My garden is where I commune with God and share in a small way in His creative force. It is where I am as happy and content, yes, it’s more than just pretty flowers!🥰 thank you, keep the videos coming!
I'm sitting here sobbing after viewing your video. I've always been an outdoor kind of gal. I can pull weeds, trim, rake and tidy up a landscape but not create so much. Lately I have begun to see that I need to plant and create outdoor spaces that bring joy to be in. Your video just hit me today that what I love is what you've created and the peace and pure happiness gardens give. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
Hi Susan. Luckily for all us gardeners, nature is a great artist. I joke with my husband that my garden thrives "despite" my interruption. Don't be hard on yourself thinking you can't "create". Try things out that you love. I'm a firm believer that every person has a unique and special way of looking at the world and the world needs you. Happy gardening 💚
I learnt how to garden by ‘having a go’. Many of the projects I tried I was convinced wouldn’t work out but it was fun to try. Then amazingly most of them did work. As long as it pleases you, thats all that matters. Many have complimented me on my garden which still amazes me but if it gives others pleasure that a bonus. Don’t worry too much just enjoy trying, you will be surprised, nature works with you.
Thank you so much for sharing. My sister had the same type of cancer. So grateful hers was caught early as well. I loved the clips of the gardens you showed, my dream has always been to visit England’s famous gardens. It’s fun to see through others experience. I will have to get that book and read it. You made a truly lovely video.pray the Lord continues to bless you,
Thank God your sister's cancer was found early. Thanks for watching the video. I was absolutely blown away in England. I think you'll love that Penelope Hobhouse book. I appreciate your kind words. God bless you too.
What a lovely message , so glad you are healthy again ❤ ! Funny how these life altering experiences help us to see the beauty in the smallest things. Love you garden keep up the great work .
Wow, tears to my eyes, so glad you are cancer free!!!, Love your gardens, Gardening gives me peace, encouragement & joy, we still have a lot t of grass, but we still have young boys that like to play there, take care & happy gardening, Ann
I can’t believe I turned on your channel for the first time, listening to your story just after I myself was diagnosed with breast cancer. I started gardening just two years ago and every winter my plans become grander. All I could think after my diagnosis was, I don’t want to leave my family and I won’t get to finish my garden. When you mentioned sitting and listening to the birds it brought a tear to my eye. I completely understand. It’s my joy. So happy you are cancer free. My prognosis looks promising and I will continue to plan my gardens.
Your message along with your gardens are all so beautiful and hits home for me. Although I grew up with Parents and Grandparents who had a passion for flowers and vegetables I never really did plant anything until 33 years ago being diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and told maybe I have five years I tried everything I could to encourage my small children and family and one thing was to plant different flowers thinking they would come back hopefully every year even if I wasn’t there. Well through Gods Grace and other life changes I’m still here watching my Grandchildren grow up and tending a garden that changes with me as I age. There is something eye opening in a garden to me from watching plants evolve to working with nature and noticing critters who becomes almost part of the garden too. But anyway I’m so happy to have another fellow gardener, thank you I’ll be watching. 😍
I have been a gardener since I was a child, and my dear mother gave me a small plot to grow some vegetables. There is something so about a garden that renews the spirit. Each winter my husband and I make new plans for our garden and long for spring when we can start our seedlings, prep the soil, and clean up our garden for a new season. To see plants grow and thrive is food for my soul. Thanks for your passion and inspiration. ❤
Your mother sounds like an amazing person. How wonderful to have a garden as a child. You must have learned so much. Thanks for sharing your story and thanks for being here.
Just discovered you and I look forward to more, gardening truly is a gift that nothing else can compare, and better if you have a four legged fur ball following you around, something you can talk to besides the plants ❤
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017. And the garden also pulled me through it. I fought to be able to work in the garden again, I've always kept that in mind. This is how I fought through the difficult period of anxiety, chemo, baldness, surgery and recovery. And in 2018 my father passed away and in 2019 my mother. Now I need my garden much more ! Very grateful that I am still alive and I now only do what I like, because life is too short and can be over soon. What a beautiful garden you have, and well deserved!❤ Much greetings Lily 🌸 (Netherlands.)
Hello. Please accept my sincere condolences for your parents. I am happy to hear you are through your cancer. I can relate to your comment about life being too short. My Dad and Mother-in-Law died last year (Dad in June 2022, MIL in Sep 2022) and I feel exactly the same as you. Life is too short and there is no time to waste. Thanks for sharing your story. I'm so glad you're here.
Thank you. The best part about gardening is your garden is never really finished. I'm so happy to have a place to grow plants. Thanks for watching the video.
Thank you. Fantastic that you are a Master gardener. That is such great training. I loved being surrounded by people that were as crazy about gardening as me. Gardeners make the best friends, don't they?
Lovely! I have no clue how I would deal with tough life challenges without my garden which surely nurtures me as much as I nurture her. Congratulations on your new channel.
I am so lucky that from early childhood, gardening has been part of my life. Throughout the years my garden has been my sanctuary in times of stress. From almost the time that I learned to walk, I had my own tiny plot. Years later, in my teens, I'd taken over the garden. I remember my interview for college, I wanted to train to be a teacher and the first question from the tutor interviewing me was that I'd put gardening as my hobby. We spent half an hour discussing plants! So gardening set me on the road to a successful career in teaching. A few teachers had a plant on their desk, but I created indoor gardens. My students loved the calming atmosphere in my classroom, and their behaviour showed just how important nature is to personal well being. Neither of my parents drove a car, so I would take them out on trips. When I asked where they wanted to go, I could guarantee that the answer would be "garden centre" or usually plural as we would often fit five or six in a day, or it would be "a garden". Hidcote was a favourite, and years later a relative even worked there. I hope that on your trip you also went across the border into Wales. There are some lovely gardens there. I am glad that my country has influenced you in the way that it has. Your own garden is an utter delight. I so agree that a garden is "more than just pretty flowers" it makes life itself more worthwhile.
Such an inspiring and relatable story. I’ve loved plants and nature since I was a child. I grew up on 86 acres in rural Kentucky. We were quite isolated. My childhood garden was orange ditch lilies that I thought were magically beautiful. I still do. My days were spent outdoors, and I still spend as much time as possible outside. I’ve had 3 kinds of cancer, taught school for 30 years, and gave it up because I wanted time to do the “important” things in life. I pray you and I and all the others here with their stories are blessed with many more gardening seasons.
It sounds like we are kindred spirits. Kentucky is an amazingly beautiful state. I totally relate. Indeed, let's hope we are all blessed with many more gardening seasons.
You have a lovely garden! I want to turn my backyard into an English style garden like yours! Like you, my garden is my refuge. Can’t wait to learn from you and with you!
Good morning, Sue, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸 ♥️🇺🇸 I just watched your video completely and thought how lucky to have your Life's Work right in front of you. I'm 72 and gardening since I was 21, but I still count myself in the novice column. I'm always learning! I'm glad you started this channel to further the appreciation of gardening for beauty and health. I started a channel in 2020 called Peggy Helbling's Garden What You've Got in hopes of sharing my Mantra to look in your back yard or house before buying new. And I'm a Vermiculturalist since 2009 and it's gone from, "Oo, that's creepy!" to "Oo, tell me more!" I had lunch yesterday with a dear friend who went through a Mastectomy and chemo last year and she looked great and embracing life ❤️ 💗❤️ I'm sure I will be watching more of your beautiful channel 👍 ❤Peggy❤
Thanks for your note Peggy. I will definitely check out your UA-cam channel. I'm glad to hear your friend is doing well. I pray for her complete healing. Thanks for being here.
Just came across your video late last night. Love your story! Beautiful garden creation in your happy place at home. It is surely my happy place. Gardening without any thoughts of what is going on in this world. Creating magical gardens in our little place of heaven where we call home. Thanks for your inspiration!!
I'm a survivor and gardener like you. Your advice especially relating to attitude and life approach are on target. Beautiful video and your garden is magnificent.
I’d love to be a part of your garden community! Gardening seems to help me make sense of the world and my life in it. Creating a garden with a cohesive sense of beauty is close to my heart. I’ve subscribed to your UA-cam and look forward to seeing more.
I know exactly what you mean Constance. Gardening is the best. I'm trying to use the community tab here on UA-cam so we can all share gardening stuff. Thanks for being here. It's great being able to hang out with fellow gardeners.
I love your story and video and as you mentioned , my story is similar to your .the garden 7:52 is my escape , pulling weeds and digging the yard my therapy , planting flowers my journey . I have been doing this since my husband got a stroke and I have to leave my full time job , thanks
I am sorry to hear about your husband. I'm glad you have a garden where you can recharge. It is hard work being a caregiver, but such important work. Take care. Thanks for sharing your story.
Thank you for sharing your story with us. Gardening has truly been my therapy as well. It brings me so much joy. I look forward to seeing more of your garden videos.
My husband of 20 years passed 10 years ago and I have struggled with figuring out what I’m supposed to feel or how to be happy (so much more to share about they) but now I moved to Texas from California and had to learn a whole new way of gardening. My gardening is the reason I get up and go everyday. I watch videos (like yours 😊) and I’m just coming alive again. Im so happy to hear you are cancer free. I wish you were my neighbor. I can tell we would be good friends. Thank you for sharing your life and garden with us 🌸
Oh thank you so much for sharing your garden story and how it all evolved. Your garden is my dream garden, all my favorite elements are there, garden rooms, boxwoods, privacy hedges, sweet woodruff, climbing Hydrangea and the Mary garden and little wayside Saint shrines so reminiscent of Europe! This is my favorite channel and the job you do in posting these beautiful videos are so life-giving!
Oh my goodness...thank you. I am so happy you are here. I am especially happy you appreciate the wayside shrines. I got the idea to build them from a photo I found on Pinterest a long time ago. They are such a great addition to the garden. They are one of my favorite things.
What a pleasant surprise to discover your channel. I started gardening at five when I was given my own liitle area next to my sand box....it bothered my father that I wanted to replant my mother's annuals into different patterns every few days. So, give the little boy his own plot! I got my own Christmas tree so I could decorate it every day also! As I approach 80 with gusto and good health, I am still rearranging and adapting to ever more shade and deer. I cannot explain the addiction of digging and planning for another season: I am repositioning errand crocus this week....and planting gingko seedings like filler plants and feature foliage in big pots with mixed hostas.....who cares at my age if they turn into trees for the next gardener. Sadly, I live on 5 acres surrounded by subdivisions, so I know everything I do will be bulldozed some day! It does not bother me for some reason....gardening is the present and next season when I hope to have my last garden tour during my 80th birthday. And then what? I will probably buy another hosta and another gold fish and maybe a new wheel barrow and keep on digging! nd oand
Wow, so happy this came across my you tube feed. So true and beautifully said. Your garden is amazing!!! And I can't wait to watch it change with the seasons. Thank you for sharing 🌷
Wow, love this video so much! Although I have never been to England, I know what you are talking about, when you say there are flowers and gardens everywhere. I grew up in Germany and it is similar there, at least when it comes to people being really involved in making their properties look beautiful. Even when there is no garden to speak of, there are always window boxes and pots on balconies everywhere. Your garden looks amazing and I am so glad it help with your healing. My garden really helped me through the pandemic, I channeled a lot of my energy into reclaiming overgrown areas. My husband was amazed at how much I was able to accomplish by myself. I have learned so much over the last few years, especially about native plants. We live in Northern Illinois, Zone 5b, and as I mentioned I grew up in Germany.
I had the honor of visiting Germany as part of my work at Ford. I stayed in Koln. Wow! Germany is such a beautiful country. I loved all the window boxes and container gardens in the cities. Just stunning. It sounds like you have created an amazing garden. I'm trying to learn more about natives too. I think they can make gardening not only beautiful, but less maintenance. Thanks for your note.
@@GardenMoxie Thanks for the reply! Yes, Germany is amazing. When I was younger I didn't appreciate how special it is. I grew up on a farm, close to a small town in northern Bavaria. Now that I am older (and wiser), I cherish my visits back home so much. As far as my garden goes, it is a a work in progress, but I am very happy that I got back into gardening. Not much happening right now of course, so I have been watching some of your videos.
Wow Sue. This whole video was incredibly moving and beautiful. I can relate to so much. I’m so glad you’re healthy, I’m so glad you’re able to keep building and growing your amazing garden and garden community ❤
I also find great refuge in my garden. My gardens are small, and sometimes they get overgrown with weeds, but when I am out there tending the beds I feel such a sense of quiet and peace. Looking forward to more videos from you
It’s beautiful, and you have captured the beauty of some of the best UK gardens. I am also going for the British garden look. One thing I struggle with is my boxwood borders. I think the big trees out compete them. How do you encourage your box hedges to grow so well?
Thanks for your note. I fertilize my boxwood each season with PlantTone. I also try to make sure they stay watered if it gets really dry here. I actually never trimmed them last season because it was so hot and dry. They are looking a bit "wild" right now....😂
I am so glad that I found you. You have almost described my journey. As I jointly fought with my husbands cancer I also got “the call” at work. Tumor in my spinal cord. Although my husband lost his battle I am now 5 years tumor free. My home had absolutely no landscape to speak of. It was a blank canvas that I have turned into an Oasis of Gods beauty. I lose myself with my gardens. It’s where I find peace and tranquillity. I just subscribed to your channel and I can not wait to view more of your videos and knowledge. Thank you for sharing your story. ❤❤🌻🌼🌺🌸Cincinnati, Ohio Zone 6A.
Oh my goodness Tammy. I am so sorry about your husband. Thank God you have hit your 5 year milestone. That is great news. I am so glad you are here friend.
Thank you Sue for making this video and sharing your beautiful, creative self with us. There truly is something magical about building a garden that will allow you to heal on so many levels. Somehow it opens you up to seeing a more simpler way of living by being connected to the earth and all its beauty. I connected to an appreciate every word you said. That is one book that I had not read so I did order it. I have an odd situation, where a large driveway was laid where a backyard should be. Most of my garden design is all in the front of my house, which is on a corner of a circular’s street. talk about being in a fishbowl. I will continue to develop the garden with time because that’s how I started making all the mistakes but somehow it still turns out beautiful thank you again so much for your inspiration. It is a comfort to know that you are there.❤
Thank you so much. I totally relate to you feeling like gardening in your front yard is like being in a fish bowl. When I decided to start getting rid of some of the turf in my front yard, I also got to hear a couple comments about how it looked better with grass 😂. It still makes me self-conscious being out there. Especially when I am filming. I hope you enjoy that Penelope Hobhouse book. She is truly my gardening hero.
After watching this video I just had to subcribe! Thank you for sharing your story with us. My garden is nothing compared to yours, but I do what I can with what I have and it brings me peace and joy. I am looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us. Sending you best wishes from the UK.
I took my dad to the UK in June 2022. He had always wanted to go. We saw so many beautiful pleaces--gardens as well--as we roadtripped around the UK and Ireland for a month. Dad passed away very suddenly in December. I've found myself feeling very lost without him. I don't have a family of my own and when he died I realized that so much of the joy I found in life was from spending time with him. So, I've been looking for something new to help me find happiness again. I bought a new home in 2021 and the backyard has been a blank slate for a while. I've been working more and more on my house and my backyard. During the pandemic I started keeping house plants, and taking care of living things while living alone in the isolation of my new house was really comforting. What started as a distraction from my grief has become a source of beauty and excitement in my life. I have a huge concrete bed in the back of my yard now wide enough to sit on, and I aspire to create a beautiful herb garden in it. My front yard was put together rather thoughtlessly by the developers, and I have big plans. I am glad I found this channel at a time when I need it. This video was so inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous garden and your lessons.
I am truly sorry to hear about your Dad. I am glad that you have found some comfort in your garden. That is exactly how I feel too. There is something about taking care of baby plants and watching them grow from seeds that is therapeutic. I appreciate you sharing your story and I am so glad you are here.
Hello and your comments during the video captured the true essence of what gardening is and should do for the soul. I too was diagnosed with breast cancer and after surgery, where I insisted the doctor only remove the smaller than the eye could see cancer nodes, was left only with a small section of my left breast removed. I started vigorously gardening during radiation treatments and never looked back. I was 60 years old then and am now 69 and 2 months to my 70th birthday and cancer free. I was a gardener before the diagnosis but here to testify, like you, that my garden was the spiritual cure. Happy Easter 2023 and may God continue to bless.
Amen to everything you said in this video. I do my best to decorate my home, inside and out, so when the family comes home, they can relax and feel comforted.
Just amazingly beautiful. I am building a shipping container house with probably a 1/3 acre yard that I want to turn into a garden for people to visit, sit, and relax in. This is inspirational. Hope we can connect because of our Ford connection (finance). Just beginning to do some winter sowing to start some perennials, to transform the lawn into a garden.
How exciting to build a house. Congratulations. I finally retired from Ford I am happy to announce. What a wonderful place to work. I miss my work colleauges. I worked as a Test Engineer in Livonia testing electric transmissions. I loved every minute of it.
I feel the same. I am realizing I am missing a friend near me that enjoys a garden as much as me. That would be so nice. I began last summer turning a horse field into a botanical garden with texture, memories, beauty, and spirituality. This was a beautiful video, thank you.
Pam, I know exactly how you feel about missing a friend near you that enjoys gardening as much as you do. I realize the computer is no substitute for in-person, but I hope we can all help one another here ans share our love of gardening. Thanks so much for being here.
I just found your video. I’ve been a gardener for 30 years since I first spent some of my college loan money on some plants for my little rental house while I was at the University. I’ve been working on gardens at every home I lived in ever since. I moved into a 1 acre home a year ago that’s a fixer-upper. The lot was all dirt and weeds. I have no idea how to build garden rooms or to shield noise and sight line from the road. But looking at your garden, I feel like I can really finally learn something from a master gardener like you. This video was so welcoming. I feel like you’re my next-door neighbor! Your encouragement makes me feel like I can do it. And also for some reason you feel like a friend. thank you for that. I was riveted as my eyes scanned across every scene… And so inspired… This video came at a time that I need it most. Thank you so much. Paige from Texas 💗💗💗
Hi Paige. I'm so glad you're here. It sounds like you're starting a great new adventure with your fixer upper. I had no idea how to build a garden room either. Trust me...nature is resilient and three's so many great gardeners that can help us. Thanks for your note.
I’ve suffered with Fibromyalgia for the last 18 years . I have been a very avid gardener for 55 years now. Gardening brings me the most peace and wellness. I too, visited England many years ago,and that influenced my taste, style greatly through the years. I have a very English garden, love my many pieces of aged concrete statuary . You have done a fabulous job,in completing a garden with personality and charm. We learn through the years, what works where, and what makes us smile, each and every time we walk out that door into the yard. This Summer has been an exceptional year for my health problems, and as I walk through my garden ,each night before dark,I think so much to myself: Each Day of illness,I’m taken away from my garden , something ,slowly begins to die inside me!😢
I'm also a breast cancer survivor; 20 years. I also found my peace by starting my garden journey. I want to create a garden that leaves a legacy. One that inspires others. To leave a beautiful space on Earth. Your garden is divine and inspiring. I'm still building mine but I'm determined. In my 67th turn around the sun, I'm still creating and planning and dreaming. Thank you for sharing your beautiful space.
I am happy to hear you are cancer free for 20 years. Awesome! It sounds like you have a beautiful garden. It's a great idea to leave a legacy. Well done!
Thank you so much for sharing your journey in life, your wisdom, and your gardening. Out of 6 kids, I was the only one that paid attention to the flowers...the weeds..nature. My sisters thought I was weird because I loved to rake the leaves. Gardening was always therapeutic for me, through a bad marriage and then widowhood. When I'm gardening or just sitting in my garden, I talk to God and give Him praises for all He has given me. I ask Him to bless my flower garden and my vegetable garden and I thank Him in advance because I KNOW He will! I would LOVE to visit the UK someday...I watch every kind of British show hoping to see their gorgeous landscapes that I am just in awe with. Before computers, like you, I read every gardening book I could get my hands on. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. God bless!
I just found you! I’m 75, newly retired. I’m discovering how much I love gardening! Loved your story. I guess it’s never to late. You have a beautiful garden!
It brought tears to my eyes listening to you talk about gardening. I’m happy that you’re cancer free and that you’re here today sharing your garden and your story 🙏🏻❤️
Soul to soul, yours to ours. I completely agree with everything you said. I too have found such sanctuary in gardening. It’s hard to explain this to people who haven’t experienced it themselves. I live in the Uk and have loved the gardens you have shown on your channel for years. It’s hard to be down hearted when surrounded by such beauty. Good bless you and keep you well. I so understand about the cancer diagnosis. My daughter has just been through this. The gap between initial diagnosis and treatment is so hard to get through. My daughter is going to be fine thankfully. Hers was very rare so the tests went on and on. All we needed was a Consultant who knew his stuff. To all others going through this take heart, there are so many wonderful treatments these days.
I am so happy to hear your daughter is doing well. That is great news. You live in a beautiful country. I will never forget visiting Hidcote Manor and looking out across the English countryside. God gave us a beautiful world.
It’s so good that gardens give us a connection. Lawrence Johnstone who created Hidcote was an American from an American family. What a blessing he had the creativity and perseverance to keep on going. I am sure you know all this but it is a fascinating story, I hope you agree. I have visited America many times and love the landscape there too. The Spoonbills on Sanibel island at sunset takes some beating.
Me too! I found healing in my garden through movement, earthing (barefoot), the satisfaction of growing beautiful flowers & produce, which half the time I give away. It gives me great joy. Being outside in the fresh air, getting vitamin D and the infrared light have all added to my sense of well being. Thank you for sharing your story & your garden!
Thank you for sharing this. Your gardens are lovely. I garden in a very small space, but I, too, consider my garden a sanctuary. I’m going to subscribe to your channel because of your beautiful message and your positive outlook-and your gardens, of course.
Thanks so much. I appreciate you being here. My favorite gardens are small gardens. I have always dreamed of having a tiny courtyard. I think courtyard gardens are so special.
I had to write down your beautiful words… I’d you don’t complain, if you don’t spend money you don’t have, if you don’t compare yourself with others and you surround yourself with beauty… you start to realize how magical life really is 🙏💛☀️ thank you 🙏
I have those words written down too. I saw a blog post about how to have a happy life and they mentioned these things and they have stuck with me ever since. I try hard to remember them. Especially the part about not comparing ourselves to others. Thanks for your note.
My eyes were wet while I was watching your video and listening your voice. Yes, indeed, gardening is more than just planting pretty flowers. It heals you and releases your stress, and be grateful to God's creations. Thank you so much for this toughing video, and I just subscribed your channel! Happy Gardening!
Dear Garden Moxie… you got me so emotional..I am so happy your garden help you to heal and find strength to fight. I am emergency nurse I have deal with patients that are lost after diagnosis, and that emotional weight is big, so when I am home, my refuge is my little garden that I am still creating. Thank you for sharing. ❤
I lost my husband five years ago after 50 years and my garden has always been my treasure but since my loss it has saved me from losing myself. It is truly my sanctuary and a place of peace and your story touched my heart. Thank you for sharing not just your treasure but your story❤️
This video is so inspiring, thank you for sharing your journey. Gardening and flowers have always been my happy place, Nothing more soothing to the soul then walking through a beautiful garden.
Thank you for sharing your life story. Very happy to see people like you healing from gardening, and become stronger. God bless you!
So sorry to hear about your son. God bless you
I lost my only child, my son, 10 years ago. Gardening, Even though I don’t have much, is my peaceful place
❤ sending kind thoughts your way.
I lost my 3 years old son to cancer 3 years ago and started to create a memory garden for him. Working with soil, planting flowers and trees helped me to cope with my loss. First I was planting without any plan in mind. But then I have replanted a lot of plants, and the garden starts to emerge.
I am so sorry to hear about your son. I think a memory garden is a beautiful idea. Thanks for sharing your story.
"Beauty matters. It's worth the effort to create a beautiful home and a beautiful garden . . . If you don't complain, if you don't spend money you don't have, and you don't compare yourself to others, and you surround yourself with beauty, you start to realize how magical life really is."
This resonated so deeply, it made me cry (and I'm not a crier). Truly profound wisdom.
Thanks so much Susan. I think it's easy to forget how much influence our surroundings have on our well-being. Gardens are so important in my humble opinion. Thanks so much for your note.
So well said!!!
I cried also. Every word resonates. I used to be a believer and I find my faith wavering, but certainly beauty especially in a garden brings God to mind. Every morning I walk into my garden and delight in seeing how my plants are doing.
@@paulafranciscac2787 Watching plants grow is something I love too.
Absolutely fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing your inspirational story.
That is inspiring! Thank you for sharing.
I am an African woman married and living in Europe for almost 20yrs. Gardening is my passion, my therapy, my service. I get so much psychological feedback from my garden seeing it transforming yearly. Apart from appreciating GODs creations my garden brings me close to GOD every time I work on it while listening to music and sermons!,
Indeed! I completely understand how you feel. God bless you.
Beautiful video. My husband died 3 mos ago and it is now February and I cannot wait until spring! My garden is where I find so much peace and renewal. ❤
I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I pray your garden can cover you in peace.
Condolences to you Renee.❤ GOD bless.
I am so sorry to hear about such hard losses. We are lucky to have our gardens to help us find peace. Thanks for sharing your story.
Thanks for sharing your story. I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. Our gardens are such precious spaces for healing. Take care 💚.
Hi Minerva. What a beautiful way to remember your mother. God's creation is amazing. It sounds like we are kindred spirits. I'm so happy you are here.
I couldn't have said it any better. Making and working in a garden is an escape and my happy place amid life's struggles. Looking forward to following you in this new gardening season.
Thanks so much for being here. Thank God for our gardens, right? I'm itching for the weather to warm up so I can get out there.
Absolutely beautiful Sue!! Your gardens, your message, and you as a person. Thank you for sharing with all of us 💕
Ah Steph...thanks so much for taking the time to check out the video. I'm so glad we are friends. 💚💚💚
Amen to your message and beautiful gardens. Gardening has always been spiritual for me. The closer we get to nature, the closer we get to God. It opens our eyes to so much and brings us peace.
I couldn't agree more. Thanks for your note.
"A sanctuary in a sea of troubled waters around us"....you hit the nail on the head. You are definitely not alone. Thanks for being here.
Loved what u shared. I feel identical. But I have to ask, is there ANY way that you and your husband can relocate to a place you love?
I can relate to that. If it makes you feel any better until I moved to Florida (from Europe) I had no idea how truly difficult gardening can be. I'm old now, so the long, brutally hot summers are too much for me, I can only hope along with everyone else that the plants are strong enough to survive yet another brutal summer. But I love being able to grow tropical herbs and fruits and every year gives me another opportunity to find ways to create shade and find ways to keep the garden thriving. Like you say, the troubled waters around us make me appreciate my garden even more - it is both a joy and a privilege to have one.
@@rosehill1595 Amen!
Absolutely true, I live in South Australia and every morning I go and look either at my veggie garden or see what flowers are around
It makes you feel in a better mood watching the bees pollinate and listening to the magpies warbling
Hope you have a good day
I just came across your channel. 💝❤
I am so glad to hear you are okay! Your garden sounds amazing. Thanks for sharing your story.
Thanks for the offer, but I don't think I can take you up on your offer.
@@GardenMoxie thank you for your consideration!
this is a very beautiful comment and so very true
Things we fear we attempt to kill because we don't realize that everything is connected and working in nature we learn these things naturally because we are nature
We are not apart from it and the more we shelter ourselves from things the less we grow
So as you nurture the earth and the garden you were also nurturing yourself
A few months ago I started working in a grocery store in the floral department which is actually quite large
It would help to quell some of my desires of gardening which I could at the time and had to do so for over eight years
Having a garden is therapeutic it puts you in touch with all that is
working with the earth is scientifically proven to heal the body it's called grounding or earthing
The benefits are priceless and for someday truly are life-saving
This video was incredibly relatable for me. I started gardening after an immediate surgery that although deemed 'succesful' was out of the blue and the aftermath extremely traumatic. I'm originally from the UK and although haven't lived there since a child I completely understand people's reactions to the gardens there. Thank you so much for making & sharing this video, it will help a lot of people.
I know how you feel about things being traumatic. I hope you are well. When things like this happen, you realize how fragile life can be. Thanks for your note.
@Garden Moxie yes thank you I have healed (in many ways) since. Glad to hear ur healthy too as well!
9:56. You find your peace and your personal growth within your precious space. Thats really all you need. Good for you!!❤
My sentiments are the same.
Thanks so much for your awesome note Beulah!
I had cervical cancer. Remission now. Very relatable video. Made me cry. They say time heals all wounds but I'm convinced that nature has been the salve all along
Thank God you are in remission. I agree that nature is the lasting salve. Thanks goodness we have an escape.
I'm a cervical cancer survivor too and gardening has helped me heal....
@@HandcraftedintheFoothills I'm so happy to hear of your recovery. That's wonderful. Thanks for sharing your story.
I am an avid gardener and have written down quotes that tried to explain to others what gardening means to me. You put into words how much more it really is. Thank you.
Hello fellow gardener. Thank you for your note.
Keep digging and see whose on the other end of that shovel...God Himself 🙏
So awe inspiring! I love the phrase “ bloom where you’re planted”! We might not be where we think we want to be right now,but let’s make the best of where we are today, your change/chance can be right around the corner! I’m so happy you’re well. And thank you for being so selfless in sharing your story. Peace -
Thank you! I love the idea of "bloom where you're planted". I think that sums up so many important life lessons. I couldn't agree more. Peace friend!
amazing story! i’m doing my gardening too and it’s really a good avenue to release stress and find time to talk to God.

Gardening is the absolute best! Thanks for being here.
Thank God you're doing well. Your video was so inspiring. I knew even at a young age, how healing a garden can be. You're right, we need more gardens, a lot more, both private and public. It's my dream to visit England's great gardens. I enjoy your videos, please keep inspiring us! Thank you.
Thanks for your kind note. I am exactly like you. I loved plants ever since I was a little girl. Nature is awesome!
Anyway, I love your garden and channel. Your voice is also very soothing. I subscribed!
Thanks so much for sharing your inspiring note. I know exactly how you feel. I am so grateful we have nature to comfort us.
Your message is so beautiful and awe-inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing. I love your garden and am creating a peaceful space too. Blessings to you
Thank you. Isn't it a blessing to have a place we can go to escape this crazy world? Thank God for gardens.
I'll take a rain check on that hug Roxana. Thanks so much for your note. I'm so glad we're friends.
I have been gardening in my garden for the full 30 years I have lived here. I have planted, decided it doesn’t work, dug, moved plants all over. I planted fir sun, theming it became shady so scheme shifted. Always learning, always experimenting, always broadening aesthetic eye. An England garden tour is top of my bucket list,
Thanks for watching the video. It sounds like you and I are similar gardeners. How cool is that?
You just put into words everything I feel about my own garden. It is my sanctuary, my safe haven, my escape. I too was blessed to go to the UK. It was in the winter and Christmas time and there was beauty every where. Even in the cities. Whether it was flower pots, window boxes or small courtyards. There was beauty everywhere ❤ Love this video so much. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much. Aren't we lucky to have our gardens? They are such healing spaces for sure. And you are right about the UK. Such a beautiful place.
Well said. Thanks for sharing.
I feel exactly the same. Thanks for your note.
You did such a great job writing this and putting it together. Beautiful 🌿 thanks for this 🙂
Thanks so much and thanks for taking your time to check out the video.
Thanks for sharing I always enjoy your video. I think as a women's we are so lucky to find love for garden. It's a beautiful in too many ways 🌷
I couldn't agree more. We are so lucky to have our gardens. It really is a special place to be.
I'm happy you're doing well. Your garden is a work of art.
Thanks so much. I appreciate you checking out the video.
Well, I never watched a garden video that deeply touched me!.
Thanks so much for your note. I appreciate it.💚
What a lovely message , so glad you are healthy again ❤ ! Funny how these life altering experiences help us to see the beauty in the smallest things. Love you garden keep up the great work .
Thank you. If there is one thing I've learned it is that life is fragile. I appreciate you being here.
Wow, tears to my eyes, so glad you are cancer free!!!, Love your gardens, Gardening gives me peace, encouragement & joy, we still have a lot t of grass, but we still have young boys that like to play there, take care & happy gardening, Ann
Peace, encouragement & joy" is exactly what this world needs. Thanks for your note.
Truly inspirational. Beautiful. And I don’t mean just your gardens. 🥹
Ah...thanks Leigh. I appreciate you being here.
It's Beautiful. Lovely Message also🧚♂️
Thanks so much 💚
I can’t believe I turned on your channel for the first time, listening to your story just after I myself was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I am so glad to hear your prognosis looks promising. That is wonderful to hear. Thanks for sharing your story and thanks for being here.
Your message speaks to my heart. I am so happy to hear you are here. Our gardens really are healing.
So glad you came through the cancer❤
I have been a gardener since I was a child, and my dear mother gave me a small plot to grow some vegetables. There is something so about a garden that renews the spirit. Each winter my husband and I make new plans for our garden and long for spring when we can start our seedlings, prep the soil, and clean up our garden for a new season. To see plants grow and thrive is food for my soul. Thanks for your passion and inspiration. ❤
Your mother sounds like an amazing person. How wonderful to have a garden as a child. You must have learned so much. Thanks for sharing your story and thanks for being here.
Lovely message, lovely gardens, lovely soul! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much for your note and for checking out the video. I appreciate it.
What a beautiful video❤️ I agree, beauty is transcendent. There is no more important mission than creating beauty. 🌹
So true! Thanks for your note.
Just discovered you and I look forward to more, gardening truly is a gift that nothing else can compare, and better if you have a four legged fur ball following you around, something you can talk to besides the plants ❤
Those 4 legged fur balls make things a lot more fun. Thanks for being here.
What a beautiful garden you have, and well deserved!❤
Much greetings Lily 🌸 (Netherlands.)
You are rivaling the UK with your formal gardening. It's stunning! Thanks for sharing your story so picturesquely. 🌿
Thank you. The best part about gardening is your garden is never really finished. I'm so happy to have a place to grow plants. Thanks for watching the video.
Wonderful inspirational story! I became a master gardener and gained a wealth of knowledge and friendship. Beautiful ending.
Thanks so much. I am exactly the same. Thank God for our gardens.
What a great story. Thanks for your note and thanks for sharing your story.
@@GardenMoxie ❤
You have a lovely garden! I want to turn my backyard into an English style garden like yours! Like you, my garden is my refuge. Can’t wait to learn from you and with you!
Thanks for being here. I'm excited for garden season to start again.
I love your message and I would be honored to be a part of your community 🌸
Thanks so much Chris. I appreciate you being here. Thanks for watching the video.
@@GardenMoxie thank YOU for sharing your extraordinary gardens and other beautiful things 🌸
Good morning, Sue, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸 ♥️🇺🇸
I just watched your video completely and thought how lucky to have your Life's Work right in front of you. I'm 72 and gardening since I was 21, but I still count myself in the novice column. I'm always learning!
I'm glad you started this channel to further the appreciation of gardening for beauty and health.
I started a channel in 2020 called
Peggy Helbling's Garden What You've Got
in hopes of sharing my Mantra to look in your back yard or house before buying new. And I'm a Vermiculturalist since 2009 and it's gone from, "Oo, that's creepy!" to "Oo, tell me more!"
I had lunch yesterday with a dear friend who went through a Mastectomy and chemo last year and she looked great and embracing life ❤️ 💗❤️
I'm sure I will be watching more of your beautiful channel 👍
❤Peggy❤
Thanks for your note Peggy. I will definitely check out your UA-cam channel. I'm glad to hear your friend is doing well. I pray for her complete healing. Thanks for being here.
Just came across your video late last night. Love your story! Beautiful garden creation in your happy place at home. It is surely my happy place. Gardening without any thoughts of what is going on in this world. Creating magical gardens in our little place of heaven where we call home. Thanks for your inspiration!!
Thank you. Aren't we lucky to have a space we can go to escape this crazy world? Happy gardening friend.
I'm a survivor and gardener like you. Your advice especially relating to attitude and life approach are on target. Beautiful video and your garden is magnificent.
I am so happy to hear you are well. Thanks for being here.
Thanks so much for your note. Gardening is the best! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for sharing your life and garden with us 🌸
I am sorry about your husband. I bet there is so much to learn when you move to a new area. Gardening is such a blessing. I am so glad you are here.
I will probably buy another hosta and another gold fish and maybe a new wheel barrow and keep on digging!
nd oand
Robert, you sound like my kind of gardener. Thanks so much for sharing this amazing story. I'm inspired! 💚
Wow, so happy this came across my you tube feed. So true and beautifully said. Your garden is amazing!!! And I can't wait to watch it change with the seasons. Thank you for sharing 🌷
Thanks so much for taking your time to check out the video. I am so happy you are here. Thanks for your note.
Thanks so much Michelle.
I also find great refuge in my garden. My gardens are small, and sometimes they get overgrown with weeds, but when I am out there tending the beds I feel such a sense of quiet and peace. Looking forward to more videos from you
There's nothing better than being in the garden. I completely agree. Thank so much for your note.💚
They are looking a bit "wild" right now....😂
Moved me to tears. Beautifully spoken. This is how I feel about my garden too. Thank you!
I totally relate. Thanks so much for your note.
I'll be back for more
Thanks so much. I appreciate that 💚
I am so glad that I found you.
All the blessings in the world Tammy. Keep going. We are all in this together
Thanks so much for subscribing and checking out the video. I am glad you're here. 💚
Happy Easter friend. I am so glad to hear you are cancer free. Thanks for sharing your inspirational story and thanks for your kind note.
Amen to everything you said in this video. I do my best to decorate my home, inside and out, so when the family comes home, they can relax and feel comforted.
Making a home is important work. It matters. Thanks for your note.
Absolutely fabulous. I am speechless and so glad to have found you. Can’t wait for more.❤️
Thank you and thanks for being here.
This Summer has been an exceptional year for my health problems, and as I walk through my garden ,each night before dark,I think so much to myself: Each Day of illness,I’m taken away from my garden , something ,slowly begins to die inside me!😢
I'm so sorry to hear about your sickness. I do hope you can spend as much time as possible in your garden. Nature really does calm our souls.
God bless!
Thanks so much for sharing your garden story. Gardens are definitely healing spaces. Thanks for being here.
I just found you! I’m 75, newly retired. I’m discovering how much I love gardening! Loved your story. I guess it’s never to late. You have a beautiful garden!
It is NEVER too late friend! Thanks for being here. 💚
It brought tears to my eyes listening to you talk about gardening. I’m happy that you’re cancer free and that you’re here today sharing your garden and your story 🙏🏻❤️
Thank you!!
The Garden is where God is. Life is a wonderous beauty. Thank you for being a kindred and thank you for sharing your beauty with us.
I couldn't agree more. Thanks so much for your kind note.
@@maidmarion2976 I love great garden stories. I'm a huge garden history fan. Thanks for sharing the story.
Same, my flower friend. Same. 🌱🫶🏻🙏🏻
Gardening is the best. Thanks for being here.
Thanks for sharing your experience with your garden too. We are so lucky. Gardening is the best.
I had to write down your beautiful words…
I’d you don’t complain, if you don’t spend money you don’t have, if you don’t compare yourself with others and you surround yourself with beauty… you start to realize how magical life really is 🙏💛☀️ thank you 🙏
I have those words written down too.
Hello Minli and thanks so much for your kind note. It's so nice to meet so many like-minded gardeners.
Thanks so much. I can't imagine how stressful your job is, but what important work you do. Thank you for that.
I lost my husband five years ago after 50 years and my garden has always been my treasure but since my loss it has saved me from losing myself. It is truly my sanctuary and a place of peace and your story touched my heart.
Thank you for sharing not just your treasure but your story❤️
