- We've got a little Toyota MR2 surprise for Moses our apprentice! He has a Mk1 Toyota MR2 himself but it's currently off the road with a few problems. When we had a phone call from our good friend Mr Thomas the plumber, asking if we wanted a Toyota MR2 we just had to grab it to help Mo out. There's loads of good parts he can pluck off to help his own project!

The mk1 was arguably the most fun mr2 to drive. That 4A-GE must have been one of the best Toyota engines of all time in terms of fun and enjoyment. However its a car one needs to need to respect as it was never known as being particularly safe in a crash like almost all non Volvo or Merc 80s cars.
Looks like it was just the paint that was keeping most of it together!

Many moons ago when I was a little boy, my dad had a Cortina Mk1 that he was making various improvements to, and then he bought a really shite mk1 and drive it one mile and parked it in his brother in laws garden. Only later I realised he'd bought it as a donor spares car.
Always a good idea to have a donor car..... They can come in handy!

I had one of these!!! also in white, I absolutely LOVED IT!! Such a comfortable driving position and so much fun! Alas it was finally consumed by tin-worm.
The rot is hard to escape on these!
They do deserve to be saved, good luck Mo! I almost bought a dark blue one about twenty years ago, but even then they were suffering from terminal rot (that one from the engine bay bulkhead)
Hopefully this one will be a good supply of parts and trim

That was a very kind thing to do nice one guys 🙏 I actually had a brand new company car one of these back in the day in red ! It was noisy uncomfortable and hard work getting in and out of but I absolutely loved it ..a cool machine nice one 👍

for an 80s Toyota it's a minter, I dunno where the steel came from back then but many cars ended up the same.

As is usually the case in Wales "mae'n bwrw glaw" Wow a Mk 1 MR2. Another resto project to feature on the channel. Most of it will polish out over a weekend.
It feels like it hasn't stopped raining for months!

Shame your so far away. I crush junk like this all the time here in Arizona. The cars don't rust here that doesn't mean we don't scrap them. Im pretty sure we have both used and NOS Panels for that 1'st Gen MR2 here somewhere.I just crushed 3 of those about a week ago.
Aww such a shame. We live near one of the biggest collections of MK1 MR2s in the UK/world. He'd love to save them!
