Just left the Bahamas stayed in Margaritaville these guys are telling the truth! It’s waaaay to expensive, most places don’t take card (it’s cash only), there’s also a 15% gratuity & 10% VAT tax on everything you purchase, ended up spending $82 for snapper, chicken tenders & fries at Tiki Bar, service was mediocre & they also have a rat problem. I mean Junkano Beach is pretty but besides that I doubt I’ll be back just wasn’t a good experience for me but to each is own.
I am sooo sorry for your experience Melly Mel...please understand that each place you visit is different..some good and others bad...you will find this anywhere you go not just the Bahamas..we would love to have you again..perhaps you should try to join people to people program where you would get to mingle with a local family
Just left.. the air b owner had referred us to a driver.. picked us up from the airport , took us grocery shopping and dropped us off for $65 (I thought that was pretty good).. we stayed paradise island near the four seasons... showed us all the places to go so we won't need a driver.. took us to the fish fry... hooked us up with an awesome boat ride with snorkeling... picked us up and took us back to the airport for $40..... I had a freakin GREAT time!!
I am a Bahamian and you're right our taxi drivers embarrass me man. We need to change the way they give service. makes it bad for the decent taxi workers.
It’s a liability thing. If she prefaces what she says with “the problem we have with that” it insulates them from stating something as a fact. But if it is a problem they have, that’s fair game, it’s their opinion. He is protecting.
The management and staff of Tasty Teas wish the extend our most humble apologies to you both. We would like you to know that asking customers for tips is not apart of our compaines policy. This particular Tour Guide took it upon herself to ask customers for tips. Customer Service is our top priority and we would never condone in this type of behavior. This matter has been addressed and delt with! We also wish to thank you for the wonderful video featuring our store!
A prefect example of why I love your videos. You definitely promote most places, but you also give the real details. That way we can be fully informed. You also don't try to pass it off like other videos. I've seen many videos that say all the good things and then toss in a con but in a positive way. Just to bad you guys went to the Bahamas and not Barbados, there's not a lot of video on Barbados...
@@Livingtheglobe will do. We leave in 237 days for that trip. And 87 for our Alaskan cruise. Which include a quick flight afterwards to Chico CA and then a drive home.
I was just in Freeport two weeks ago March 2023. While it was pretty expensive. I found the taxi drivers to be very nice. The people are great! AhhHah the woman who drove us to the airport the day we left was a beautiful soul. 70 year old woman with lots of love in her heart. But at one point she pulled off a 5-6 car pass on the road with oncoming traffic. Hahah my wife was digging her nails into my leg. Bahamas is definitely beautiful and we will be back.
My goodness I’m so happy to watch this video, as we are going there now in July. Lots of people told my fiancé that is expensive there but they don’t explain why, now I have a better picture of what we are going to encounter ❤ Thanks
As a Bahamian living in the US this tipping thing is getting out of hand. I spent most of my early life working in the tourist industry in the Bahamas and you only got a tip when you went above and beyond what is required of you, now the taxi driver wants a tip!!! For what?? OMG lol.
Good video guys. I love how you guys go into detail. Downtown is definetly rough for pedestrians ironically. Most of the locals dint even go down there unless they work down there. Its a 300 year old city and there are property rights issues to make it more pedestrian friendly. Most of the newer parts of the island have better infrastructure though. Yes, taxi drivers in Nassau do make alot of money. I knew one that made 60k annually. Not that popular of a job though. The service in the Bahamas has always been relatively slow but the pandemic rules have made it worst🙄. That being said I love living here😁.
@@motovation101mediation8 Maybe some do but they drive just fine in the states. The way they drive changes. The way I drive changes when😅. Lived in the states and the Bahamas I can give you examples but I don't want to bore you. Trust me, my original statement is very accurate.
I think a lot of people misunderstand the purpose of the video. They are not saying the Bahamas is a horrible place. They are giving you information that will make the cons more tolerable. Letting you know that you'll need to keep cash on you is a plus. A friend of mine said she never got a moments peace while visiting the Dominican Republic. Everyone was asking for tips. Even at the resort she was staying at. I plan to go to the Bahamas, but will spend most of my time on the resort. If I go downtown at least I'll know what to expect. Thank you .
Spot on! Thank you, that was the exact purpose of making this video. By the way, in the resorts it’s a completely different vibe! You are going to love it! 🥰♥️
We have been to the Bahamas six times. Twice on cruises and we have stayed at Baha Mar four times. Yes, everything is expensive, but I know that going in. I also know they are on Island Time, so no one is in a hurry. We ignore the solicitation from the shops and the taxis drivers. We have the telephone numbers of a couple of taxi drivers who we call when we are there. If they are busy, they send another taxi, usually a friend, and we know the cost ahead of time. We try to go every six months, but have been going once a year recently. I love the Bahamas. As you said, with all the cons, you would still go back, and so will I.
There are so many beautiful islands here in the Bahamas to visit & I’m sure you’ll get a better experience. Like Exuma, Eleuthra, Bimini, Abaco etc. I’m sorry you had to experience this.
The cost of living is high overall and our dollar value is almost equal to the US dollar therefore prices everywhere is high. And unfortunately even higher on the other islands
@@deedecosta3249 I don't think its that bad. My last visit a few weeks ago food wasn't expensive, paid $70 a day for a car - about the same as in the states and $200 a night for a newly built cottage. And I flew there on air miles. The family islands can be visited on a tight budget.
Great video! May I ask you 1 question, what month did you go to Exuma? We're trying to avoid Exuma and Nausau in March because of Spring Break. We're thinking of February or April. What month do you recommend? Thank you!
Thank you so much for giving me this information. I have a standby ticket to fly anywhere the airline goes. I'm scheduled to leave in 5 hours for the Bahamas. After watching this video, I've decided to cancel my flight and find somewhere else to go that doesn't sound so stressful.
I mean I guess I understand some things but it’s such a blessing to be there I’ve been there 3 times in my life each time to the resort at Atlantis we always pick a day to go into Nassau too and I’ve never had a bad experience it’s all amazing imo my favorite place to vacation and I’ve been to Spain, Italy, France, Canada, hella states including Alaska nothing beats Atlantis Bahamas if you have the opportunity to go I highly recommend it! The worst thing about the trips is the ride back to the airport and sitting in the terminal because I don’t want to ever leave haha
I experienced a similar aggressive behavior regarding vendors in downtown Miami. The vendors call you off the streets to invite you into their stores, and they will hassle you and not allow you leave their stores until you purchase something even if you don't need it.
You're right with your cons, especially #1 and #2. #3 is everywhere. #4 totally agree. #5 resorts have challenges too. All colonized islands have similar issues. Tourism is the source of income and employees are often underpaid and also struggling with the high costs of imported goods. That said, Bahamas is an extreme example. It's beautiful, but I'm not sure I'd return as a top choice compared to other Caribbean islands.
Thank you for the toll info. I am traveling solo and nervous. Do you have any tips and advice? I went to Dubai solo and felt very safe and tipping is not a thing there even though I did, now I have regrets going to the Bahamas.
@@Yasinkids To Dubai? I felt extremely safe! I loved it. I stayed in the Bahamas in my resort so I didn't feel unsafe, but the staff were not friendly. I enjoyed Dubai more than I did the Bahamas.
Hi, I am planning to visit Bahamas in September but I am very confused with hotel, food, sort drink, taxi & public transport, so for a solo female traveller which side will be best to see all attractions? Also, I have 3 hotels in my mind which are Warwick, Comfort Suit and Breezes, I can’t decide which one to book as I don’t want to end up spending too much money on taxis, I am sightseeing lover
The comfort suites is the best bang for your buck. We had a deal for free breakfast and $100 for spending The hotel. Now not sure if they still have that deal but I would ask, you also get a pass to enter the Atlantis which is AMAZING that was the main reason we booked with them
Hey Jennifer McLarnon! 🤗 Thank you for your kind words and for being a part of our community. We truly appreciate your support and it means a lot to us. Wishing you and your husband safe and enjoyable travels. Keep being amazing! 💙✈️🌍
Yes the Bahamas may be considered a 3 Rd world country but the cost of living is high , for instance per gallon of gasoline is 6$ so it's very expensive correct there!!
I plan on going on a last minute trip in july, do u have any suggestions on where to stay to be close to beaches, airport and dining? Based on this video it doesn't sound like a good place for a fitst time visitor
We live Atlantis and we will be going back there again! If you dont want to stay at the resort, book a few blocks away from Margaritavill. Its next to a good beach, airport and many other things are reachable from there. You will have fun. This video is just for you to be aware
I just came back from the bahamas and the only good thing they have is their beautiful ocean. Other than that, it is very expensive and the food is not good, they are very rude, from the waiters, to the taxi drivers and vendors, if you want to do any activities it will cost you at least $300 per person, no public transportation. Definitely is not a trip i will do twice
I used to be extremely aggressive, almost violent with solicitors, vendors, and taxis when I was single and younger. Then I grew up, learned that life is hard, and people have families to support. Now I am much more diplomatic.
Thanks so much for your great Videos of the Bahamas! Are you born in The Bahamas? I agree with all you cons points.....But at the end every trip to The Bahamas and explore every time another Island, its definitly worth it! ❤🇧🇸😍
not born there :) Yes, its not something that will deter from going there, just to be aware. We will be back to the Bahamas and defiantly would love to see other islands.
@@Livingtheglobe My favourite place is definitly Eleuthera (Spanish Wells), next year I'm trying to explore Long Island!😍🇧🇸. Thanks again for your great Videos!
Oh no, please visit! Go to the beach, it is gorgeous! We made this video so you are aware. FREE & LOW-COST THINGS TO DO IN NASSAU BAHAMAS ua-cam.com/video/LUe5fslKWAY/v-deo.html
Went a few days ago. The aggressive soliciting was absolutely horrible. You cant even walk without them trying to sell stuff, shove papers in your face, had someone try to sell me drugs. Overall terrible experience. I will never be back.
Great straight up video which I appreciate! it definitely made us re think our stay. With it being more expensive for food, we are now looking at the all inclusives. Thank you both for your information 🙂
You are welcome! You can find affordable local food, portions are big, you can even share. It's just so you are aware. But we do prefer staying at a resort. You should try other islands, it's not like Nassau
My family wants to go to Bahamas. Thanks for the tips. Not sure I want to go now. No Uber, no metered taxis, don’t want to be conned pay extra or not safe.
You'll be fine I live in Nassau, Bahamas. They were walking on Shirley St. Which is equivalent to a highway in Miami, Florida or I-95. Most areas that tourist visit has sidewalks. Shirley St. does not have pedestrian traffic, that's why there are no sidewalks.
Years ago we had a lifeguard at the Atlantis laugh at me and my 7 year old boy when we fell off of the inflated tube we were riding on. Paying over $100 each for a water park where the lifeguards will laugh at you instead of doing their job? Never again!
😲😲🥺🥺 I'm so sorry you experienced that. I hope the culprits got caught because the penalty for crime against tourists/visitors is greater that the penalty for crime against locals.
Good Evening to all. I agree with many of the things they are saying about the Taxi Drivers but please Remember that in every Country there is some BAD APPLES that will make the Country look bad but there are still many GOOD Citizens who will open their home to Tourists here in the Bahamas. The Video that are seen here Name Shirley Street and I agree there is no side walk there also there are many road here in the Bahamas that have side walks so a person don't have to walk in the street. I have spend 49 years in the Hotel Food & Beverage and I always make sure my Guest Feel Welcome and are given the Best of Service that Atlantis has to Offer. I was in Management in Room Service and I always help the Waiters/ Servers to get the Guest Food out in a Timely Manner. I always set up Guest Order so by the time a Server comes back I made sure and say to all my Staff Please Rush this order to Room 2075 and make sure you give this Guest great service because I will call the Guest after the service to make sure the service is Excellent. I came from the Old School when there was no tipping. I start at the age of 15 almost 16 years of age as a bus making $26.00 a week 6 days a week with no tip even after I was Promoted to a Waiter about 2 years later my salary was $38. and some cents with no tip. I start working on October 1st-1970 the Hotel was Name Lowes Hotel & Villas and we at Lowes Hotel take Pride in Serving our Guest in making sure our Guest had a Happy and Joyous Stay. This is why we had so many Repeat Guest and we all love our Job. But the Hotel had pass through so many new owners that service was not as good as before because of the 15% tip. Also some of the Young ones who comes into the Hotel Field just wanted to be on their Cell Phone and complain about hard work. Some of the young ones wants the Money but don't want to Work for it they are LAZY. There are also Managers who are far too Friendly with some staff where Favoritism is shown and nothing was done it's who a person know. This is why when I have Friends stay at the Hotel I take care of them my self by taking them over the Hill we call it and let them taste our Bahamian Food and other snacks. All we ask Tourist who Visit our shores Please don't Judge us all in one Court. There are still many of us from the Old School who still care Respect and will go out of our way to help all Guest that Visit our Island. Things like this happen to my self also when I Travel but I will not Judge everyone in the Countries I visit because I have meet many Good Citizens who have invited me to their home for Lunch or Dinner will I travel back to those Countries Sure I will I can't take the Bad Stick and beat the good Citizen for others mistake. As for Improvement yes there is room for Improvement in our Tourist Sector. I hope this will be a Eye Opening for the Minister of Tourism and he will take big step to address these and other Complaints that the Tourist bring fourth. Why not Set up a hot line on the websites so Tourists can have their complaints address in a timely manner? And yes it's very Expensive to live here in Nassau Bahamas.
1. The prices are high because we are built on tourism so that’s how we make our money. 2. We are a small island and many other tourists are trying to try the same things as you so it’s not gonna be as fast as the USA, you guys probably have more staff or more technology or better systems because y’all are bigger. 3. There are many venders trying to make a profit which is not an excuse to be aggressive but they are also trying to make a living. Not all may want u just for their store they could be helping or being nice. 4. There are many taxis because there are many tourists. But there are many taxis in New York so what’s the difference? It’s an income what may be cheap in America won’t be cheap over here so if you don’t like the prices rent out a car or just walk. 5. The island is very small so u can’t expect the same thing from wherever you live and I highly doubt that there are more drunk drivers in the Bahamas than the USA.
Prices are high cuz the governments insane taxes on every single thing you can possibly imagine. Taxis in the bahamas are aggressive and con artists, partially because of the absurd high cost of living which is again because of our corrupt gov. So many bahamians make excuses just like ur doing for shit that is straight up unacceptable. Poor people justifying and defending their poverty. Such a sad comment lol
You're correct The Bahamas is a pricey place and your review is spot on for the most part. I don't agree when you say there are no convenience stores though. There are many there's a few downtown as well but most are away from downtown and not really labeled on goggle maps. A quick tip though pretty much every gas station has a little convenience in them where you can find basic needs like, water, bread, snacks, etc. Also if folks are staying for more than a few days, I recommend you rent a car instead of messing around with taxis you'll get to see the town more and find great cheaper local food spots on google maps away from the "resorts". Yes Nassau folks drive aggressively but it's not that bad it's about the same as Miami, Atlanta, or Jersey drivers.
the most accurate description, i'm leaving the review after my 1st day here at Bahar Mar. I wish i seen this video before booking, place is beautiful but everything else is not.
Thank you for the video!! “ maybe you meant to edit out the correction to Irene on what to say 😅” any way. The Con # 3 contradicts what you mentioned in your video about “Junkanoo Beach” you mentioned the vendors are not pushy 🤷🏽♀️…
Excellent video!! We have been to the out islands and now I can see why. We were thinking of a quick trip to Nassau but not now. We'll wait until we can go back to the out islands. Thank you!
Glad I came across this video. Thank you! We are traveling to Nassau very soon (family of 5, 3 children under 16) - a little nervous after this. We are staying at Margaritaville - wondering if you know anything about The License to Chill food/drink package? Cost? If it's worth spending that money. Must you buy it for every single day or can you choose a few days to have it during your stay? Also, we are doing a day pass at the Atlantis Aquaventure - thank you so much regarding the $2 fee for the bridge/ as well as the concerns with taxis/price gouging. Do you think it's better to use a service for airport to the resort vs haggling with taxi driving? We have one night to go to the Fish Fry - any recommendations for the best restaurant for dinner?
Hi, we do not know about the package you are interested in, please contact the resort. You can take a ferry to Atlantis $5pp each way. It is very close to margaritavill. You can walk to fish fry it’s not that far. About 25min walk. The food there is regular nothing outstanding. The beach restaurant next to Margaritavill has really good food
What about the pro's Every country has its pro's & cons hope they get highlighted too so maybe if we want to visit we'll make a better choice .just saying
Good point! The main pro for the Bahamas is obvious - beaches and crystal clear water so we decided not to mention it and talk about what most visitor would not know and what we did not know before going there
Y'all speak the truth! Im just a frequent cruise ship visitor and I notice these things. I am naturally big on tipping but the over the top emphasis on tipping everywhere drives me crazy there. My favorite thing is eating out and having drinks there but its expensive and then you need to tip extra and its slow lol and then im afriad of the unregulated taxi services there too that you describe. I dont even want to just walk around bc of aggressive vendors.
Good luck with that😂. My family and I are at Atlantis Bahamas now 2024. Everywhere we have been has a 10% VAT and a mandatory 15% gratuity added to your bill. To me a lot of the food price is equivalent to the cost of food in California until you add the VAT and mandatory 15% gratuity. Some vendors/food establishments want you to add a higher tip to where I think the locals don’t even look at the 15% as a tip anymore. Some services were great, some were ok and some just plain sucked. This is why you should be able to choose what your gratuity is, but I know this won’t change.
Stay across at Comfort Suites for much less $. Sister hotel. You still get to use the Atlantis facility- at least that is how it was years ago when we went. Nice trips overall but STJ if FAR better if you want remote, gorgeous beaches. Less to do but that is a plus for us now. Tried to get us into a time share pitch- simply said NO.
@@Livingtheglobe That is where the smart people stay! I laugh when I notice people who paid $1,000+ a night arguing with the front desk over this and that. For what we paid, we had zero complaints. We used the room to sleep- otherwise, we were at the Atlantis most of the time. Did you visit The Dig?
This is helpful thanks. So tried of tourists getting taken advantage of in these tourist trap spots like Mexico and some of recent cruise ports visits.
The area you choose to walk in ,no one walks in that area.Granted your concerns are valid however every country has issues.Might I remind you ,you are not in The Bahamas, you are in Nassau, the city.Go to an island to have a much better experience .
Thank you, Latara! 100% every country has issues. We have been on many Bahamas islands and loved it! This vides is for Nassau (as per the title of this video)
We were on our way to the only supermarket in that area and this road was the only way there. We were there for 1 month and most places we would go there where little to no walk ways
@@Livingtheglobe Y’all must have been staying in the ghetto. But maybe not because even the ghetto have multiple supermarkets and convenience stores. - A proud Bahamian
There is a high percentage of people that are very rude...at least that was my impression when staying at Atlantis. Lot of people seem to be annoyed with their lives.
The Bahamas isnt a cheap destination, have over 700 islands and cays, about 30 of which are inhabited with government infastructure (power, phone, water, police, fire stations etc). A total of 500.000 Bahamians and Residence. Apprx 200.000 of which are on the island New Providence where the capitol Nassau is located. New Providence is "only" approx 25 x 7 miles. Not a big place. Prices here are high, most everything is imported, there is NO income tax in the Bahamas, most of the government revenue comes from import taxes and also for a few years now they also have a VAT tax of 10% on most purchased goods. So you are paying taxes on what you consume. Importation of the goods, the size of the country (the entire country has the population of for example Miami) and it being in the middle of the ocean makes it difficult to keep prices for everyday goods the same as other more populous places and countries in the world. As for AirBnB, there are MANY AirBnB places to rent on Paradise Island where Atlantis is located! PI has great roads and sidewalks. It is also very safe. If you want to go to downtown you can get inexpemsive water taxi from PI to Nassau and back. I do agree with the taxi situation, its terrible. I agree thst the public transport is lacking but that has to do with locals being able to source small Japanese cars at a decent price and the goverment not regulating the public transport system in more detail. Driving on the left side is ok, its daunting for about 30mins and then you get used to it. If you have driven in any larger world city such as maybe New York, Paris, Rome....they make Nassau see like a Kindergarten. Rentimg a car is an option and cam be less expensive tham using taxis. It depends and the length of your stay amd what you want to do. Yes you wont ever have a supermarket next to your AirBnB, so you might want to stop off at one before going to your AirBnB and negociate the total with your taxi before departing from the airport. Again it all depemds on your length of stay and what you need. Since covid times there are a few grocery delivery services available, not something I would do, but it is am alternative. Facebook is a good source to search for local companies such as this. As for service, I agree, it on the whole is not up to par. Though there are locations such as Athena Cafe which is downtown Bay Street where it is impeccable. It isnt the cheapest place but the food and service are excellent. All I can say before going anywhere amd spending your hard earned money, do some research like watching this and other videos. All places have postives and negatives.
Hi! Depends what your goal are. If you want to go to Atlantis, defiantly book this ua-cam.com/video/ynovhSYlRNU/v-deo.html&lc=UgzSxk0va6pEjIoZs4l4AaABAg If you want to be near downtown and right next to the beach, we recommend this B&B www.airbnb.com/rooms/22178393?source_impression_id=p3_1656103243_eAfc5BmpF9AlWKTb
I just got back from Nassau. Our Air BNB was amazing! It is super expensive there right now! Our coffee creamer alone was 10.00!! Paradise Island that Atlantis is on is VERY commercial, and kind of lame if you ask me, but if you have kids it might be your jam.
Like comment watch. Wow those cons do make a difference in any Bahamas trip. The constant mentioning of tipping would drive me coocoo. I am a tipper anyway and don't need reminding but I get it. Gr8 video as usual. 👍
Yes, that is the only way to improve and I ask him to correct me. People make fun of me when I don’t say shit right and most of the corrections you do not see
Yes he did, nothing wrong with it, keep your sensitive ass in America or whatever soft ass country you live in if you don't like correction. This is a loving couple that respect each other and are comfortable correcting each other when they say something incorrect or grammatically wrong. You don't get to tell them how to operate with each other.
We're staying there starting Sunday. Our host said most of their rooms don't have one due to safety issues. I imagine their luxury rooms probably have them but I'd call them to confirm
Fair critisizimum on the downtown area - Bahamians are usually operating under the "if you're not first your last" modusoprendi and it can be hard to swallow. As you mentioned researching a particular area I felt as if you disregarded your own rule. Specifically the Airbnb's - You really need to pay careful attention to the reviews, as they can tell you everything you need to know. My recommendation would be the Love Beach area followed by Sandy Port (Cable Beach) as you should be able to find something very suitable between these two spots 😊
It's just things to be aware of. You should definitely get off and explore! Here is everything you can do for FREE ua-cam.com/video/LUe5fslKWAY/v-deo.html

Thank you for sharing this information. We're planning a 4 day trip to Atlanta next month. Can you give a ballpark amount on how much you spent for food per day?
Hi, Theresa! Not sure. Our bfast was included so that was big savings. We had a light lunch from ATLANTIS park it was about $25 for 2. Dinner was about $50 wo drinks from nearby restaurants (not Atlantis)
Thanks for sharing this information!! I will be visiting the Bahamas solo (woman) in Janaury for first time. I am staying at Riu Paradise Islansld and had plans to stay on the resort. Thanks for the tips. I did at least want to go off the resort but I have to prepare for their taxi
@Tom Elliott I loved everything about it!! You will love it. The all inclusive benefits is heaven and the staff were friendly! I recommend if you are eating at the restaurants make sure you reserve early. The buffet was good but the restaurants had the best dinner. Bring lots of cash you will need it for Taxis if you leave the resort. But it was relaxing, I enjoyed it.

Am from the Bahamas and that taxi driver trying to get up on you’ll no way he supposed to charge pre bag or you guys having to pay the toll and the vendors that’s there bread and butter but they can get annoying saying no thank you . Tip choose one taxi driver to take you feel comfortable with to carry you wherever make sure get they number
I went to Mexico and felt the same way. Before we cleared the dock area we felt harrassed by the vendors. It's one sales pitch after another. Another special item made only by certain families that can only be bought there. I realize their economy is mostly tourism related so every tourist is a walking dollar sign.
The one thing that really frustrates me about Nassau so bad is being bugged about buying stuff the whole time your there, I got so frustrated I just went back and got on the ship ! On a good note we had a van driver named pearly and she went as far as went into a liquor store with me to buy some Balik beer and I was able to enjoy it while we were driving around the island, I hope her and her family are doing good, such a sweet lady

It’s a liability thing. If she prefaces what she says with “the problem we have with that” it insulates them from stating something as a fact. But if it is a problem they have, that’s fair game, it’s their opinion. He is protecting.
I got the sense it was meant to be edited out and was missed, they make money off this and giving notes mid production is normal

Thank you, Christa! We appreciate it ❤️🌺

A prefect example of why I love your videos. You definitely promote most places, but you also give the real details. That way we can be fully informed. You also don't try to pass it off like other videos. I've seen many videos that say all the good things and then toss in a con but in a positive way.

@@Livingtheglobe will do. We leave in 237 days for that trip. And 87 for our Alaskan cruise. Which include a quick flight afterwards to Chico CA and then a drive home.
Some very important info to know ahead to be prepared and not end up disappointed.
Thanks for sharing!
You guys are telling the truth but i love my country and i am proud to be a Bahamian❤🇧🇸
My goodness I’m so happy to watch this video, as we are going there now in July. Lots of people told my fiancé that is expensive there but they don’t explain why, now I have a better picture of what we are going to encounter ❤ Thanks
Glad you found it helpful
That being said I love living here😁.
thank you for sharing
You can say here they drive bad
Y’all are awesome. Thank you for this. I’m here now with my family and wish we would seen this BEFORE we arrived. Thank you for this.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️ Hope you enjoyed it! Have you encountered any of the topics we've covered?
Absolutly, we still love it there!
Can you share the taxi info? We are going soon and would appreciate a referral. Thank you

There are so many beautiful islands here in the Bahamas to visit & I’m sure you’ll get a better experience. Like Exuma, Eleuthra, Bimini, Abaco etc. I’m sorry you had to experience this.
Thank you!
Exactly the experience of Paradise is on our family islands.
Thank you!
We did not go to Exuma, only Nassau in mid April, it was great. A few showers

Thank you for adding to the comments. Super happy you have a great time!🌸

I experienced a similar aggressive behavior regarding vendors in downtown Miami. The vendors call you off the streets to invite you into their stores, and they will hassle you and not allow you leave their stores until you purchase something even if you don't need it.
Thank you for sharing
Wow, that's sick.

Riu Palace on Paradise Island is the only way to go for me. It’s an adults only all inclusive resort on Cabbage Beach.
Thank you for sharing!
Didn't use to be extremely high. Since the new port , prices went out of the roof.
😱😱😱

I’m going to the Bahamas next month. If anyone asks me for a tip I’m 100% not tipping a dime
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm dying to know! What did they do when you didn't tip? 😂
so how it go ??
Good luck with that😂. My family and I are at Atlantis Bahamas now 2024. Everywhere we have been has a 10% VAT and a mandatory 15% gratuity added to your bill. To me a lot of the food price is equivalent to the cost of food in California until you add the VAT and mandatory 15% gratuity. Some vendors/food establishments want you to add a higher tip to where I think the locals don’t even look at the 15% as a tip anymore. Some services were great, some were ok and
some just plain sucked. This is why you should be able to choose what your gratuity is, but I know this won’t change.
Thank you for your honest opinions.

There is a high percentage of people that are very rude...at least that was my impression when staying at Atlantis. Lot of people seem to be annoyed with their lives.
agree

This is a loving couple that respect each other and are comfortable correcting each other when they say something incorrect or grammatically wrong.
You don't get to tell them how to operate with each other.
Thank you so much for all of the great info! It will def make for a smoother trip! 🤟🤟
Thanks for the video. Gonna be there March 2025
Bahamas: The Royal at Atlantis we are planing to stay! How about microwave to use? Any information pls...
We will look into it and get back to you. Thank you
We're staying there starting Sunday.
Thank you
I appreciate your video. You gave some very important information
Thank you, Lee! Glad you enjoyed it
Man, we are visiting there this coming winter as our first port on our first cruise. It’s not sounding like I want to skip it and stay on the ship
It's just things to be aware of. You should definitely get off and explore! Here is everything you can do for FREE ua-cam.com/video/LUe5fslKWAY/v-deo.html
We took our first cruise this year and it was a short one, just to CocoCay. No sweat. This cruise in October is CocoCay then Nassau. I don't know what to do there. I'm so easy to get ripped of my people too. Beggars ect... I don't want to stay on the boat and we'll have an 86 year old man with us this time.
We have created a video with FREE things to do! ua-cam.com/video/LUe5fslKWAY/v-deo.html
You should try the restaurants at BahaMar, we found the quality and service to match the price.
Thank you, next time!
Would taking a cruise ship like carnival conquest be more affordable than staying in the Bahamas thanks for all the great advice
Absolutely!
Here is what you can do while visiting for the day FREE & LOW-COST THINGS TO DO IN NASSAU BAHAMAS

Thank y’all this information was very helpful.
So glad!
Thanks for sharing this information!! I will be visiting the Bahamas solo (woman) in Janaury for first time. I am staying at Riu Paradise Islansld and had plans to stay on the resort. Thanks for the tips. I did at least want to go off the resort but I have to prepare for their taxi
Glad it helped you! Rui is walking distance to the fiery that takes you to downtown 😃
@@Livingtheglobe good to know
What did you think about the Riu Paradise Island - I'm going to be there in May ?
@Tom Elliott I loved everything about it!! You will love it. The all inclusive benefits is heaven and the staff were friendly! I recommend if you are eating at the restaurants make sure you reserve early. The buffet was good but the restaurants had the best dinner. Bring lots of cash you will need it for Taxis if you leave the resort. But it was relaxing, I enjoyed it.
@@jellygurl27 Thank you I really appreciate your opinion since you were just there.......I've heard good reviews and some not so good reviews on the internet........I can't wait to spend a week there relaxing and and exploring the warm sunny weather.........Have a great evening and that's again 👍
Yeah...we'll skip this stop in the Caribbean, don't want headaches on vacation.
At least go to the beach, it is gorgeous!

Thanks for the realness, I’ll look into another island now!
If you just plan on staying in the resort, it is still a paradise!
Service is slow because you are on Bahamian time, what's the rush, slow down and enjoy your time there.
We would rather enjoy our time doing activities or enjoy the beach not waiting for food
@@Livingtheglobe yeah, but that's just how they operate...
You guys are the type of people who goes to dinner and complain about everything..
Im easy going but they speak the truth here
You're the type of person that knows nothing about us but chooses to comment. 🤣
The truth is the truth.
Prices in the USA is high as well
I appreciate the honesty and agreed! We don’t hear enough cons . Its good to be prepared.
great video you guys are awesome
Thanks so much
I went to Mexico and felt the same way. Before we cleared the dock area we felt harrassed by the vendors.
It's one sales pitch after another. Another special item made only by certain families that can only be bought there.
I realize their economy is mostly tourism related so every tourist is a walking dollar sign.
Exactly
We are planning to Stay in At Bahamas: The Royal at Atlantis. How far is the " COVE" fromt Royal Atlantis? Thank you
I would say a 10 min walk, but you can always take the free shuttle in front of your hotel to the cove
The cove is apart of Atlantis it's in atlantis
There are shuttle bus to take you to the cove but you can walk. It is a part of Atlantis.
Thank you for sharing! That was so sweet of her! ❤️
amazing info!!!
What are the head wraps called that you wear. I need some! :) I also just found your channel and I'm loving your vlogs. Thanx for all the info.
