Getting the M4 Pro 16” 14/20/24/1TB. Trading a M3 Pro 14” 12/18/18/1TB. Since getting my M4 11”iPad the MBP rarely leaves my desk and never leaves my house. Miss the bigger screen of the 16” for photo and video editing along with day job stuff. If I got a mini I would lose a screen and I love the screen on the MBP’s. I’m RAM skeptical. The M3 with 18GB never missed a beat. It used swap, but never a huge amount and with modern SSD, swap is a none issue. I’d advise upgrading the processor or SSD instead. Cheers.

@@Graf-XTechReviews Will do! Hey, if you're interested, both @CreatedTech and @MaxTechOfficial did a comparison of M1 chips configured with both 16 GB and 32 GB Ram. They thru the kitchen sink at both. The 16 GB held its own rather impressively. It used more swap, but was very impressive. I was going to do 36 GB in the M3 but decided on the 18 GB and a SSD upgrade instead. Swap is a none issue and I never regretted the decision.
My new 14" MacBook Pro M4Pro/ 48GB/ 2TB arrives November 8, to replace my first foray into the Mac world, a 13" MacBook Air M2 16GB/ 1TB which serves as my desktop as well with a CalDigit T4 box and Apple Studio Display. Although I've been using iPhones since the 2nd one and iPads since the first Air and then iPad Pros, given my decades of the Microsoft PC world in my professional work and personal hobbies, The MBAir M2 was dipping my toes in the Mac computer water to make sure I was ready for complete immersion, and I'm ready now and this new M4 MacBook Pro should serve me well for some years to come. Considered waiting for an M4 (or M5?) Studio (more ports etc.) which will probably be next spring or at WWDC when they have the Ultra ready, but I am permanently sold now on Macs and, although my Macbook Air setup has been adequate it is near the margins for some of my purposes, so the M4 MacBook Pro now made a whole lot more sense, plus it gives me a portable powerhouse in addition to its desktop duties.
Yeah that makes a lot of sense, yeah that new Mac Studio can’t come soon enough! But yeah the MacBook gives you a lot of flexibility, and that’s very convenient!
I'm a little annoyed they didn't update the Mac Studio. I'm coming from a 2017 iMac, and I want to compare the Studio M4 Max vs Mac mini M4 Pro. With Apple their products are more expensive than ever now and these are huge decisions for someone like me as this will be my computer for another 6-10 years. I guess I'll have to wait some more as it doesn't look like Studio refresh is coming this year.
Yeah I’m annoyed by that too, I would’ve loved to see that. Unfortunately, according to most the leaks lately, the Mac Studio is rumored to be coming in the summer of next year so yeah, not this year for sure
