    Would using a brayer to roll over help it stick better? Will putting tape at bottom edge help keep the ends down?

    • @SilhouetteSecrets
      @SilhouetteSecrets  Рік тому +2

      Yes, both can help.
      If you are using it to cut multiple sheets at the same time, you have to tape the corners. A single sheet does not need tape if the charge is built up, but it would secure it more.
      I'll be testing it more soon!

    I wonder why they didn’t make the static “protective” sheets the same length or cover the entire electrostatic mat. It is a lot of unused space and it will reduce the chances of being “shocked”

    • @SilhouetteSecrets
      @SilhouetteSecrets  Рік тому +2

      They did. The area under the electrostatic mat is the only place where it builds up the electricity. You can touch around it..... the only time you would get shocked is if you didn't have the protective mat on it and turned the bed on, then touched that specific area.

    • @SirRonmit
      @SirRonmit 10 місяців тому

      Make sure when you lay down the protective mat, you verify direction! One side is longer just a bit than the other -- you want it to fit between the rollers and it will cover the entire ES field "mesh".

      @SilhouetteSecrets  10 місяців тому +1

      @@SirRonmit yes - this was one reason they had the issue at Summit. The ES Protective sheet had a corner bent from not being on the bed properly. I covered it in my new video too!

      sorry I was trying say that the little mishap at the end of cutting happens with sticky mats too, so no big deal. every piece of equipement has a learning curve and the potential for things to goo wrong on occasion, as for the new technology I cant wait to try it!

    • @SilhouetteSecrets
      @SilhouetteSecrets  Рік тому

      It will be difficult to cut through it, it's built to withstand it. Not impossible, but if you damage the bed, you'll need to replace it. I don't think it will spark, but your project will be lost.

    Thanks for the informative video. Do you know if you can do matless cutting and embossing on cardstock still? Also, does it still have a USB connection? I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to technology and I like a good old wired connection, especulially as I plan on using it with a desktop computer.

    • @SilhouetteSecrets
      @SilhouetteSecrets  11 місяців тому +1

      Yes, it can still cut matless.
      If cutting through a material, you would need to use the pop out feature.
      Embossing needs to be used with the embossing mat.
      Yes, you can connect by usb cord. However, there is not a USB cord in the box. You have to provide it.

      You would need to look at your Silhouette Club account on the Silhouetteamerica.com and see if you can change those allotments. If not, then I'd recommend contacting Silhouette Support and ask how you do that. I know there are options when you join Silhouette Club, so there should be a way to change it.

    • @SilhouetteSecrets
      @SilhouetteSecrets  9 місяців тому

      You can try, but no guarantees it will work and maintain the charge.
      If you are using the ES Bed for the Cameo 5, make sure you have the protective sheet on the bed correctly. It is directional. One way it will get caught in the rollers and bend the corner.
      It fits one direction only.

    I love silhouette software but I don’t think the machines are improving and I’m actually quite put off by seeing things like this happen with the new innovations, it doesn’t give me confidence that the product is up to scratch! I’m also quite disappointed that silhouette keep discontinuing products ( which is fine it’s technology) but they say support will remain but they stop making all the consumables for previous models so then they are landfill products as you can’t use without mats and blades. My hand was being forced to buy a new but I’m not convinced that these are up to scratch

    • @SilhouetteSecrets
      @SilhouetteSecrets  7 місяців тому

      The only machine and supplies that has been discontinued is the Curio 1. It is still supported on the software, so users can still use it and access any Silhouette machine model they own.
      They are one of the only companies that continues to support and allow users to use older models. They don't brick the machine like other companies might.
      The Curio 1 was manufactured for almost 10 years - that is a long time for any machine model.
      I have other videos with success with the new machines since the release. The particular video you are watching was at the Summit demo and the very first look by all, even some of the demonstrators.
      But it is not for everyone..... the new ES beds are pretty cool though.

    • @SammieCrafts
      @SammieCrafts 7 місяців тому

      @@SilhouetteSecrets that’s the machine I have 🥲, it’s ok having support though the software but without the supplies/consumables it’s not useable. Support would be continuing to offer the supplies, but just no longer making the machine itself for purchase. I now don’t know what to do with it I’ve contacted the company for comment but no response and the new curio hasn’t really improved in fact it doesn’t offer as wide an opening anymore or have much uniqueness to the other machines. I understand you’re just promoting the products but I’m just not impressed. I think my machine will be on eBay later

    • @SilhouetteSecrets
      @SilhouetteSecrets  7 місяців тому

      @SammieCrafts my job isn't to convince you or any other user or to promote the products. I use the products, and I teach users how to use the products. It is not for everyone. You are correct. The new Curio 2 is completely different from the previous model. There are some things it does not do that the Curio 1 did. However, Curio 2 actually has the most clearance on any machine at 20 mm and a bed of 12" x 12". But it is different than the old Curio 1 in many aspects.
      I also understand a bit about how the manufacturing process works. The machine & supplies manufactured for it are over 10 years old. There is not a large enough customer base for the Curio 1 to dedicate a manufacturing plant, machines, staff, and sourcing materials to a minimal number of users. In order to do so, the costs are extreme, and all supplies would need to increase in price to cover just the costs to continue manufacturing. This is the way for all manufacturing, not just Silhouette. The fact that they manufactured it for so long was unusual.
      Many Curio 1 users are sourcing alternatives when they run out.

    • @SammieCrafts
      @SammieCrafts 7 місяців тому

      @@SilhouetteSecrets unfortunately I can’t find any alternative supplies, but I’m not in America you see. If you’re aware of alternatives though I would be grateful for links to look at them as I’m really stuck not knowing what to do with it now, I wasn’t aware of it being discontinued till now otherwise I’d have got more supplies. It may be that if the alternatives are only America import would make them not worth it, but I hate throwing things away because accessories are no longer made it’s what bugs me with a lot of crafting machines and just wish the consumer would be thought of a little more. I understand what you’re trying to say about things but I’m sure that the mats could be made along side the other machines mats it’s only a matter of what size for each machine and clips. I don’t think the cost of manufacturing those would actually be that high. There has to be a better way that companies can make new machine models but have more of a continuum so that the accessories/the consumables parts don’t become the issue in them becoming obsolete!
