- Here's the official trailer to the dram/musical film, 'The Concert' directed by Radu Mihăileanu. Many years ago, Andrei Simoniovich Filipov was fired as conductor of the Bolshoi Orchestra for hiring Jewish musicians. Now a janitor, he learns that members of the orchestra have been invited to perform in Paris. Andrei gathers his former players and plans to substitute them for the current ones, and he hopes that a beautiful virtuoso will accompany them.

just watched it yesterday when I read it's nominated for golden globes and I absolutely love it, wonderful movie, the last 10 minutes was my favorite.highly recommended!
The best movie for 2010 sa far. Love the twist of stories and music elements in the film. This drama touches one's heart with comical elements evloving from the dark past.

the movie had some flaws, and even some minor plot hole- yet, it was wonderful. the orchestro final sence, however, is a masterpiece. the most original sence in years, that, in fact, was never done before as such.

@jgfpony, is art foreign film, so hope that there is a theater near you showing it. Maybe an art house theater or a local Regal, Amc, or national chain',s choice for a foreign film.

i really liked it, but i saw something similar in "Copying Beethoven". Still i liked this scene the better. The major flaw in this kind of movies, which plot revolves around a long and great music work, is that they never play the full piece, they always cut from beggining to crescendo to addagio to finale (not in any particular order) to show what they consider "best"

Whyyyyyyy ist it sooooo hard to let a real musician play the soloist???? whyyy in all the fucking films the main character that should be a professional soloist is never a real musician it just kills everything!!!!!!!!
Because they have to ACT... they're ACTORS. It's like getting mad 'cause they don't hire real soldiers to fight in the battle scenes... or real extraterrestrials or monsters... it's plain ridiculous.
