I always wondered why the App Kingdom never had any appearance in the show other than Apetrully being Monkey King. Why aren't there any monkeys at Big Green? I know he's under cover, but he could just say Monkey King is a bit of a recluse.
I personally think is so adorably sweet when he said his name for the first time in English, the Rabbit King's name is Jumpy Ghostface. I love that cutie pie rabbit.😍
You know, I feel as if the humans living in holes is meant to represent the horrors of trench warfare or living in bunkers, though I could be seeing to deep into things
I feel bad for the Zebra’s brothers. I know what you think by seeing them as the bad guys for working for Highroller but we need to remember that they got tricked and fooled by him just like the rest of the animals, except Commander Apetrully. When we are kids we love the heroes. When we are adults we understand the villains like The Zebra Brothers. They do all the hard work and they got the punishment every time, and they deserved to get a bit more respect from Highroller who most of the time he is not even around of them when they are doing his tasks.
You know, there's one question nobody's bothered to ask now that I think about it: What happened to the other Zebra's? The only ones we see are the Zebra Brothers.....

After the testing, the animals argued who'd get the throne. The monkey king (Ape Truly) demanded the throne for himself, which Bearstomp saw as an insult to HR -and so, he yeeted him too. Honestly, I always thought that afterwards, it was AT's true intention to just dethrone HR and get the throne for himself, pretending to be peaceful. Ironically also a thing that happened with real conquerors/ursupators

Commander ApeTrully has been keeping it a secret from Big Green. Mighty Ray saw him without his disguise, but he didn’t put together that it was him. Same with the rest of First Squad. They saw him at Deer Castle, but they didn’t see him put his disguise back on. If your wondering why they didn’t recognize his voice, well, that’s because he made sure to only make monkey sounds in front of them. In Mighty Ray case, did them when Mighty Ray turned around and saw him.

The reason why ApeTrully never shows his true identity to anyone else in the show is because he fears that the animal kings will refuse to trust him enough to fight on his side, and also that most of Big Green could end up abandoning their loyalty, and as a result, the civil war in Hidden Kingdom would either end with High Roller's victory or plunge into total anarchy.

As much as I like this show, it suffers from a premise that doesn't make sense when you put further thought into it. Highroller tricks the animals into thinking humans are evil. Okay. But wait, Highroller is also human. Did he say he thought his brethren were wrong and decided to look out for the animals? Then why did he establish a hierarchy that puts himself at the top and rule them harshly? Meanwhile the humans, who supposedly were clamoring for war, had no military ready to fight and put up no resistance until Apetruely created Big Green. Watching it again now that I'm older has revealed the flaws that went unnoticed as a child.
I would agree, but you're ignoring the fact that the humans are the most intelligent species in the animal kingdom, while the majority of the animal kingdom are reliant on their instincts. This is a flaw, which can be easily manipulated with bribery, like High Ruler did with candy and acting like he was looking out for the animals. High Ruler under the guise of being a reliable leader who gives them sweets, was able to convince them to make him leader for supposedly leading them in the right direction. I mean each animal kingdom was shown to be easily swayed, you just had to beat them in a test. This could've been fleshed out more yes, but for what it did show, it did a pretty good job, especially compared to modern shows.

I really like this episode. If only there was a backstory on what happened, to all the other monkeys. Seeing as technically, Apetruly is the Monkey King. And if only Big Green would be able to cope with Apetruly's secret, IF any of them ever found out for real. You know, like how Apetruly wound up leaving the Monkey Kingdom, and had to constantly wear a disguise.
