8:20 onwards only applies if you're following Husserl's transcendental phenomenology where the researcher has to place all their bias/preconceived notions asides (that's where bracketing/journaling comes in to enable this process). if you're going with the idea that we are always in the world with others, and it is impossible to separate ourselves, then you're following Heidegger's hermeneutic phenomenology - which cannot use bracketing but uses interpretation as revision (hermeneutic circle) to get to the end results.
i dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot my login password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
So, is it the hermeneutic circle the one I should learn and do instead of bracketing if I'm following Heidegger's theory? ... I mean, if I want to include member checking in my research and through a focus group ask my participants to collaborate in the interpretation, even if my study is hermeneutic phenomenology, would that be bracketing?

Hello Holiday575. I searched a lot of videos looking at IPA and this video is one of the best I have come across. I went on to your youtube channel and was sad to see that you only have 2 videos. I hope you can make more videos as you've got a good knack for shedding light on the methods. Thanks for your help.

Yes, that's what I understand. Research language and terminology seems to have some confusing overlaps. I am going with Phenomenology is a Methodology AND a Theoretical Perspective. At least, that's what I've been taught and am reading. This use may be a slight variation?

Hi, I thought Phenomenology is a methodology, a type of research design, not a method (which would be interviews, focus groups, observations etc)
Hey. IPA is a methodology, like you said, as opposed to thematic analysis, which is a straightforward method
I thought so too

This is the best video ever.
Is there some words not to use in conducting phenomenological research?
