I got to ride in one of these when i was a kid. I hung around a mechanics shop next door to my great grandmas house. The guy was master porsche mechanic, he had the porsche class ring to go with the title. He rebuilt the motor on this car and took a picture with me holding the garrett turbo before he put it in. Once he got the turbo in and the exhaust back on we took it for a test drive to test the boost. He nailed it down by the church my grandma went to and we were over 100mph in second gear! (Only a 4 speed trans back then) i cannot express how thrilling that was to me as a young kid. That thing screamed like a jet taking off and plastered me to the seat. It was awesome and ill never forget it!

    Enjoyed the video.
Reminds me of a time I had a 1976 Trans Am 455 4 speed and was driving to Florida. It was 1978. I had stopped for gas and was just pulling onto the hiway (I75). Had just switched into 3rd and a Porsche 911 Turbo came along side me. I downshifted to second and nailed the big 445 smog motor. By the time I shifted back to 3rd (almost right away) the 911 blew past me like I was standing still! Amazing cars!

@ruthlesslyuninfluencedbyin2525 AHAHAH!!!, you must be one of those things called millenials ,yes the fish i eat on my 78 summer vacation isn´t for sure alive today but just think a litle better, not a fake coment just a brainless response feel free to do some thinking ,your heard of a band called Beatles or Rolling stones ,they were not young boys in 78 but still alive today(some of them ,normally the ones that weren´t expected to live so long) and i can assure you that i´m not 40 something years old today ,well i wish. and in 78 a lot of people that were already men are alive today ,lot´s of them, the president of the united states was already old in 78 and still making a hard life to many ,he didn´t want to stop vietnam war in 75

i have a 74 firebird formula 400 ,that i don´t know what the badge means ,is it a race in the U.S. of A.?also have a mid 80´s 911 turbo in black, they are diferent cars but the turbo was really a game changer, i also had a dodge charger(68/69, not sure) also all black 7.0L engine like in the dukes of hazzard. Is the firebird a trans am because the trans am has a firebird in the hood and both are very similar

Killer car. Love it. If I had an extra $125,000 lying around I’d be all over that.

I've owned a '77 930 for over 20 years and will never sell it - for me, no car matches the overall thrill it gives. Another feature is that fairly minor modifications turn a 930 from a fast car into a supercar killer.

What they don't tell you is how close together the pedals are. Don't try to drive it with boots or big feet! haha my feet are tiny and I struggled. You'll hit the brake and clutch at the same time. Great car though, so much fun to drive!!

Thank you for doing reviews other than just the "press fleets." Did anyone else notice the Macan at 4:15 into the video. Kind of noisy at 6:40 though I know Porsche people like it. I have mixed emotions about these sorts of cars, goes against my values of frugality and practicality, though these performance vehicles are nice.

It's only "classy and iconic" now that we have to keep the remaining examples running and in good shape. It's historically important, but "brutal and scary" were the words most people used to describe the 930 its heyday.

Aside from the Black exterior, my non-turbo has the exact rims, fogs and interior. I wasn’t aware that a power top was an option. Thanks for another amazing review of an iconic legend. Smart outfit for the review too! Which ‘watch’ for the road test?

Would be interesting to drive this in winter with a set of winter tires and the turbo kicks in.

People always say how 80s the cars are I do also but the design is from the mid 70s, well a mid 70s rehash of a 60s design. As no exterior difference between a 76 or 89 car ( apart from wing mirrors and painted black metal bits, then its odd its an 80s icon when was already ancient in the 80s
