  • Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
    I finished this sketchbook a couple of weeks ago so I figured it's time for a sketchbook tour. I am showing you the good, the bad and the ugly, and will explain why making "bad" stuff in your sketchbook is VERY important.
    If you like my free weekly videos, then please consider backing me on Patreon. You'll will be helping me to keep consistently making Draw Tip Tuesday videos, and making them available for everyone for free:

    What you call “ugly,” I call “junk.” Someone said it takes 99 junk to create 1 masterpiece, and that’s how I think of my sketchbook “junk” pages.

    Excellent variety of art. I love how flexible you are in drawing and painting. You have a tremendous output to fill a sketch book in a month, I still haven't finished my first one which I started about a year ago. Mind you, I do have 3 or 4 sketch books on the go; plus I mainly paint watercolour at home.
    It's interesting to hear how you evaluate your own work and how you explain what it was you were trying to achieve. Above all, you transmit enthusiasm and enjoyment in artistic expression which is what I find inspiring about your videos. Dank je vel Koosje.

    Wow, enjoyed looking at your sketchbook, thank you for sharing. So cool to see the effort you make to stick to your practice. Look what can be achieved! the vivid colours you get from watercolour, it looks like marker, Amazing! An so cool what you can create from minimal colours too.

    Ma'am, you deserve way more views and book sales than what you are getting currently. I feel (maybe it's only me), keeping the camera too close to you while shooting yourself is one of the reasons for low view count.

    I think working in a sketchbook is more relaxing than on single sheets of paper. A while back you did a tour of your A3 book. I am drawing in an A3 one now and love the bigger space but also the fact that a book you can close is so much less intimidating than a sheet of paper. Weird, eh?!😁

    Great flip thru as always. You kept going back to the “bad” drawing. And I learned so many things just from this conversation/sharing that is very useful for my sketching journey as a beginner.
    1) A drawing will always look “worse” to me because I’m the only one who knows what happened during the process. But no one needs to know lol. So it may not be as bad as it looks to me
    2) The quote from your friend is so spot on. I just did a really big mistake on one of my drawing practice and I agonized over it the whole night. I was so disappointed with myself for getting the perspective all wrong. But I’m going to write down that quote on that page now and remind myself that the mistake was exactly how I’m going to improve!
    Thank you!!

    Interesting comment you shared about making mistakes and that if you don’t you’re doin it wrong…you mentioned hearing that from another participant…i also watch the videos by another artist, Sandi Hester (who also raves about Emily Carlisle sessions) and she says the same thing…such wonderful advice and so freeing too for us beginning artists…thank you for another wonderful video!!!

    I really enjoyed this tour. I finally figured out something I always do wrong (?). When I sketch, even if I plan how much I want to fit the page, I always start in the middle of the page with my foreground. So, then it's difficult to fit the background. I never think to start to the side or the bottom. Now you can tell I'm pretty new at sketchbooks. I've been doing artwork for many years, but only in the last couple of years have I craved the luxury of sketchbooks. I know. I'm doing it all backwards. But I'm so enjoying it. Thank you! I love your work, thank you for sharing!

    • @KoosjeKoene
      @KoosjeKoene  Рік тому

      There is no right or wrong, and no particular order for you to take your creative journey in either. As long as you enjoy it while you're making all kinds of awesome discoveries.

    Thank you for sharing. A beautiful Sketchbook - I always forget how important it is to play in a sketchbook. And I always tend to use the same material every time. Just one question could you please show what you actually take with you (sketching materials) when you sketch on location like in a cafe for example?
