The Leviathans are among the most horrifying parts of Subnautica, and they only become more numerous to encounter, and horrifying to behold as you go deeper. The Reaper Leviathan is apparently circling the crashed shuttle, and will take away your sub while driving, and will kill you when you make contact with it. Of course I've never actually played the game specifically because the Leviathans shown in trailers and what not horrified me.
My honest advice for anyone wanting to play subnautica but is afraid of the leviathans is to just make a save game that you can reload when you find one and then drive up to it in the seamoth (mini sub) and try to survive as long as you can. You'll find that they aren't the death incarnate that they appear to be at first and if you face your fear you can learn a bit of how they move and how to avoid them until they lose interest in you. It is scary when you first find them or when they get the jump on you though.
When a leviathan screams it uses echo location to find prey.
So when you hear it scream, it SEES you.
Get the fuck outta there
@@borfus958 What most people are afraid of aren't "just" the leviathans or the damage they can do or how they lead to your death etc. None of that even really matters, it's a minor inconvenience to get your stuff back, you can just reload anyways.
The real issue is that they represent "the thing" that you see in your mind's eye when you actually see NOTHING in the open ocean. They're the monster that lurks just beyond what you can perceive in this vast open sea of nothingness.
The reason Subnautica is seen as a horror game by many and got so infamous, is that it lead to a widespread realization among gamers that a lot of people have thalassophobia. And like any other phobia, you cannot rationalize your way outta there - you are simply scared, with no recourse.
Lastly I'd even say the game gets less scary the longer you go on, because you go from vast open ocean with reapers (the scary spider face leviathans), to brightly lit caves with a big doofy dragon guy who shoots bowser style fireballs at your nearly indestructible mech. The biggest scares are reapers near the start, reapers in early midgame and ghosts whenever you decide to explore too far. Once you're done with those areas, it's pretty ok, even if the open ocean traversal still hurts.
When the sun goes down and underwater turns into complete blackness.....
Hanging around in the shallows is relaxing. Practically everywhere else, isn't.
The "Heals 50 times, boss heals ones" one, a very valid argument is, the boss has 5 times your health most of the time, and hits 10 times harder than your scrub ass ever will, so them healing is not Because they healed, it's because an already hard/annoying fight just got extended, and your odds of dying just multiplied.
My little brother, aged *TEN* at the time, got Sora to level *_FIFTY-FREAKING-TWO_* on Destiny Islands, through what I can only assume was the power of insomnia and sheer force of will. (^◡^")
So basically his Sora was the games final boss for a while?
Riku fucked around and found out. Little bro was not going with Highwind.
7:14 My favorite instance of this is Ganondorf in Tears of the Kingdom. Where for one of the phases of the fight, his health bar keeps getting bigger after it refills until it extends all the way to the edge of the screen. Seeing that for the first time was terrifying.
8:14 They want you to buy boosters that will skip ahead by certain amounts, or for you to spend premium currency to complete it instantly.
19:14 If a game lets me pet a cat, I will always stop to pet the cat.
22:33 I played DnD for 20 years and fought a dragon once. Though one of the party members of my first campaign became a dragon.
23:23 The deeper parts of the world can be quite scary. And the first time you get grabbed by the Reaper is terrifying.
It’s all fun and games until the fish start trying to eat you
24:01 I REALLY wish it would cut here to Dipper saying "This Video is sponsored by Raid Shadow..." 😂
Honestly I was thinking it.
Dipper: "You ever break a controller?"
Nah, that shit's expensive.
Dipper dog has a contagious laugh I don’t care how absurd it is at what she laughs I always laugh along
"I love brokkoli! I like to pretend they're trees and I'm a disnoasaur eating them."
Well, that's my wholesome quota for the day met.
Games that happen over and/or underwater or have big spaces of water make me feel unease, most likely because of fear of the unknown. The discomfort of not knowing what will come out of the water makes me paranoid. The first time I came across a sea snake in valheim with my friends really freaked me out, because I even foreshadowed it moments before with "oh great! Now what? A Kraken or Leviathan or some shit?"
I never understood people's obsession with getting platinum in a game, during the old days reaching something similar would've earned you special costumes, game modes or even extra story bits, but now it's just a square that basically tells you "hey, here's proof you spent the last 1000 hours doing menial tasks you didn't enjoy, congrats!".
Errrr.... it can easily happen if you get fixated on a game.
@@Dipperdog_RPGirl I could understand playing it and realizing one day like "huh, I guess I got platinum" because it meant you enjoyed it so much you didn't even realized you got it (which would speak volumes about the game's quality), but doing it just to see the square that says you did it, while suffereing through multiple hours of self admitted boredom and tedium it's something I don't understand.
@Xx1devilgod1xX ohhh... if you don't like the game but need to 100%? Yeah you got me there.
1:30 100%ing Skyrim was the most fun for me. A good player can do every main quest line early-ish. The game encourages you to level as high as possible. If you actually needed to grind a skill, there are easy methods you can look up. I remember when smithing a bunch of daggers was viable.
My brother, though, did every little thing you could possibly do in vanilla. Way beyond the achievements. We were all cracked when we were kids
23:20 Subnautica is my favorite game that's scary but isn't horror-focused. The scary parts are just one side to enjoy. The fear wears off as you get more familiar but man, seeing or hearing the leviathans while being hundreds of meters underwater is still awesome
I found this video in my recommended, and I initially wasn't going to click on it, but I saw that you had PlayStation hair clips, which I thought were super cute, so I decided to watch the video. Then you mentioned Kingdom Hearts, which is my favorite video game franchise, and I knew I had to follow you, so I subscribed here on UA-cam and followed you on Twitch. May your heart be your guiding key
11:15
About garbage trucks.
When you see how the trash is being scraped into the back is mind blowing as a kid.
I love Raid. I’ve been playing it for a little over a year. Ngl one of my top 10 games.
9:30
That is neither Ezio or Enso (whomever TF That is suppose to be), that is Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, the MC of the First AC.
I got a little triggered from that too, first by VaazkL, then the editing lol. "Both are wrong!" Reeeeeeeee moment 😂
Remember when we had well writen characters of what ever background instead of diversity check boxes. I miss those days, now evdn if it is a well writen character there is the naghing doupt if it is a check box or honest desing choice.
@@Jaegerrants Lord i hope it's a checkbox and not someone who Actually thought some of their choices as of late were good ideas.
Games today look prettier than they did 20 so years ago, but they lack any sign of a Soul that games (and movies) of old were beloved for.
9:20 well I guess he saved money on the marriage so he can treat himself to a gaming pc.
I have only ever broken one controller in my life, but that was simply because I was sick of patching holes in my walls from punching them because of the Soulsborne series.
3:30 “yea im listening oh look squirrel 🐿️”
10:44 NO the umbrella is a bolt action not an ar
I raged and threw my PS2 mini into the wall, 2 hours later I bought a new one at GameStop
Weirdly enough re. D&D, in the 20 odd years I have been playing it, I've fought more dragons than I have explored dungeons, and it really hasn't been too many dragons either
As someone that has loved KH since it came out, I respect you for this 1:34. I agree, 4:11, because while the First Lady messed up one line (To/Too many worlds) she did a much better job. Apparently that chick in KH2 voiced Aerith in FF7 Adventure Children before KH2 came out so that’s why she’s there.
4:30 We were too poor if we broke a controller we were SOL. Hitting each other was safer...
23:56 Get that bag! 🎉
11:07 If you don't have enough time to play your games then you've messed up. Something's gotta go. Your job, house, food, romantic other, friends, family; all this ranks lower than having time to live your life.
I got a big lists of "ugh not this part", honestly. Neverwinter Nights 2's Mask of The Betrayer expansion during the game of Mastermind, Dragon Age Origins during the Fade (literally modded it out of my game), Dragon Age Inquisition on basically anything in the Hinterlands other than the dragon. Pathfinder Kingmaker during the dimension-travel, during the quest where you need to walk alone into a huge ambush, and that one Beneath The Stolen Lands room where the enemies are harder than the boss that comes after them because of a bug. Of course there's Skyrim with goddamn Blackreach. And probably a couple more I forgot.
1:35 100% KH is a grind that I can't commit to. But then again, I don't 100% any game. Unless doing so gives me more story, I never see a need. Sometimes that means the game is over fairly quickly; sometimes, it takes OVER 120 HOURS TO DO STUPID XENOBLADE CHRONICLES WHY DO YOU HAVE SO MUCH GOOD STORY! But yeah, I think I have a healthy relationship with gaming.
20:35 HUNTER MOVE IS FEIGN DEATH, THIS KID IS LEGENDARY!!!!
If Dipper found herself outside and tried to use gaming logic to get out of a situation she'd probably mix up the controls and smash into a wall
7:01 it says "bozo" lel
6:25 one time a friend of mine challenged me to rhythm game 1v1. I’ll never forget the moment he realized what he got himself into and said “wait you’re actually good at this?”
Twas not a close match.
I've broken a dryer by putting too much laundry in it
1:14 this game reminded me I needed to feed my hatchling in Angry Birds 2
My d&d group years ago was moving from 3.5 to pathfinder (I know, huge change) and so we started with that starter kit. It has you fight a dragon and gain a dragon bane sword.
Probably my proudest 100% completions are Hollow Knight, Worldless, Clone Drone in the Danger Zone, and Astroneer. Definitely the most difficult part between them was Worldless’s Summum boss fight.
If you do ALL the side quests IRL you will straight up obliterate the main quest boss when you get to it.
I see a new Dipper video, i click notification on. Simply as that.
100% Elden ring, Sekrio, and Bloodborne was SO painfully. But completely worth it.
Break my controller!?
Are you serious that thing cost £55!!
I'd break the game before the controller!
When that Skyward Sword scene played for me the first time on the Wii that was funny af. Because it was unexpected.
Oddly enough, it's earbuds that give me headaches rather than headphones.
It may be a matter of brands though, I think. For example, my headphones were typically Skullcandy sets (in fact I used to swear by them)... But I haven't gotten those lately because my cat keeps chewing the wire forcing me to replace said wire.
A different version of the "max level before leaving the tutorial" is the "beat the final boss at the character's starting level" playthroughs.
Then yo have two far more extreme. 100% runs (single sitting start to 100%)
And Minimum%, where you complete the game with as little as possible. If the run is 10 ours longer but require one less plot item to finish, it's the new best run.
"When the rest of you have to carry the highest ranked player"
Back when me and my brother was playing Vermintide 1 together, we, at level 50 or something, were grouped up with someone over level 300...And he was so unbelievably USELESS...The two of us, Less than half his level Combined out performed him by a country mile...Just how is that even possible?
18:04 from what I’ve heard, Animal Crossing appeals to the fantasy of being able to pay off your debt and owning your own house.
I just collected two objects for my IRL side quest. I got a new scale and a new silicon mat for making bread. My old ones were just too worn. Next mission is to try and make melonpan.
Watching this at 4 :30 am after just getting off Apex before going to sleep, I feel called out.
100% Witcher 3, Borderlands 2 & 3, Skyrim(Dawnguard, Dragonborn, and Hearthfire dlc's) and BG3... Never again. Wasted 3 years of my life for this. I haven't touched a game since.
Dipper, i downloaded a Terraria mod that had the Nekopara girls as NPCs. First thing i noticed was that i could pet them. I spent an unholy amount of the 5 hours i should be sleeping petting them.
xD
clash of clans (and other building games like that) usually have obscene build times so they can incentivize you spending premium currency to speed things up
I habe also broken 2 tvs an xbox 6 controlers in my whole life god that was expensiv
FINALLY A VTUBER WHO UNDERSTANDS MY HOBBIES
10:01
Antuens ineris Ira vehmentis Antuens ineris Ira vehmentis SEPHIROTH!
6:19 It's crazy, cause in my early 20s, i'd go like 3 days with little to no sleep, make it through that 3rd day of work, and absolutely crash when I got home. Now I'm in my mid 30s and I've slept 8 hours total in 6 days. Why can't a crash anymore? I'm on meds, why can't I sleep? I'm starting to think I'm the next step in human evolution. 8 hours of sleep to be at peak mental capabilities? HA! As well as I function on 2 hours or less for 7 days straight. if I got 8hrs, I'd probably be full blown telepathic. Or my brain would be like a super computer or something....If I knew that was true...I'd probably still not manage 8 hours.
just her asking if Subnautica is scary shows that she didn't play enough to get to the reaper leviathan.
16:47 probably Skye (pink pilot Cockapoo) or Everest (Teal mountain rescue Husky), Maybe Liberty
I learned the trick to not throwing your controller. Buy a controller that's too expensive to replace.
20:37 - I was about to say that LOL
22:28 Playing 3 campaigns, mastering other 2. In those 5, not even a singular dragon has appeared, even though I have plans to make dragons a big plot hook on one of the ones I'm mastering.
I don't sacrifice sleep to play with friends anymore, they're likely too busy catching up on sleep they lost raising babies and toddlers when they're off work
I did that on the original PS2 version. Maxing Sora from reflecting wakka's attacks.
4:30 only 4 controllers? Dang can your brother teach me how to be patient like him?
Whoever did the mobile games meme hasn’t turned their phone on for ten years.
you will never understand the pain of the reaper leviathan in subnautica, after the first 20 minutes of game play it is a horror game.
Was not expecting to see Dairanger on Dippers channel but BASEDDDDDDDDD
clash of clans uses crazy wait times to pressure you to pay money to speed it up. I feel the same thing when I would finally get all the blueprints for the warframe I want but I have to wait 12 hours for each component and 72 hours to make the actual warframe.
One of the rules with gamers never tell them what to do or else you’ll regret it
4:09, first things that came to mind were Shalebridge Cradle in Thief 3 and Ocean House in VTM: Bloodlines. Enjoyed both and know a fair number of people who can't deal with either of them. Former is difficult for me as I can't deal with horror all that well, but it's still a very exceptional level. Latter even has its own cheat code for skipping, 'OceanHouseQuestComplete()' :-D
Yay the hoodie is back
7:18 I put 10 hours into two worlds 2 HD 11 years ago, the next day the save was gone, probably corrupted or something, I never touched it again, 10,5 hours according to steam.
Also F4 survival mode not allowing quicksaves/quickloads and me getting stuck between a car and a wall, causing me to lose 50 minutes of progress had me mod in quicksave instantly, fuck losing progress.
22:18 I couldn't really think of a game but yeah, BF3 was actually a good example of exactly this. Couldn't even get myself to finish act 1. Maybe if I never played divinity 2 I'd enjoy it.
Gaming is more important then having a relationship.
10:45 I used pump action shotgun style umbrella but mine was a lightsaber
20:08 And I 100% believe it, because he's a 12-yo *_of course he would!_* Nice Tanking lil' man👌
9:00 returned the engagement ring and bought a PC.
If i thrown my controller i wouldn't be able to afford a new one
You got me at KH.
I remember when I got in a death loop in fallout 4 I got a death loop of a asultiron death Lazer loop in the institute.
I've never broken something out of anger. The angriest I got I threw my hat on the ground and cursed like never before or since. That was the Dark Souls 2 PvP arena. I never PvPed in the arena again and completely from the game not long after.
I recall %100 on Spyro which had the fun shtick of going up to "%120" (and i do mean I got there)
Those games were really fun to complete ... so long as we don't speak of a certain creature ... God i still hear the taunting...
2:06 To be fair Leon dying noise from RE4(original) also sound like a Say Gex too.
(Not included those one with dead cutscenes)
0:51 hello dipper
as a person with an estimate of 39000+ hours in minecraft. yes
These are so true 😂😂😂
I “100%” Watch Dogs 2. I put it in quotes because there’s a trophy that you can get from the showdown mode for getting a max streak bonus and that’s the only trophy I don’t have. Otherwise I have everything in the game and got all the other trophies, DLC trophies included.
1:51 Kirby and the forgotten land, Super Mario 3D world, pizza tower 101%
Funny seeing the 100%-ing a game one as I'm working on 100%-ing Stellar Blade right now
EDIT: I've 100% too many games to recall but I know I have 100% many FromSoftware's games including: Demon's Souls (PS3 + PS5), Dark Souls (Ps3), Dark Souls 2 (PS3), Dark Souls: SotFS (PS4), Bloodborne (PS4), Dark Souls 3 (PS4), Sekiro (Ps4), Elden Ring (PS4, PS5, + Steam), and Armoured Core 6 (PS5).
NOTE: When I say 100%, I don't just mean getting all of the trophies. I mean all of the items, gear, collectables, EVERYTHING and, yes, I did that thrice for Elden Ring.
I used to be a 100% playthru player back in the day. Till I finally met my match. It was my dream game for how into leveling I was. It was simply too good to be true. Max level wasn't 99. it wasn't even 999. It was 9999. Disgaea 2. After close to 1000 hours into the game, I finally reached my burning point of enough was enough and quit playing the game. And in the same act, cured me of my need to 100% every game I played. Last game I 100% was Dragon Quest 8 on PS2. I recall taking it out of my PS2, putting it back in it's case, then it the art box the case came with and never opened it since. Still have my PS2 and all my games so who knows, I might crack it open someday to relive old memories and also, THAT spot.
I thought Disgaea games had easier ways to level up and gain stats after you've gotten into postgame?
cause if it really was going to take thousands of hours to hit lv9999 in disgaea 2, then imagine disgaea 6 with it's 9,999,999 level cap
@@DarkFrozenDepths That's the thing with kid me being obsessed with leveling. I barely progressed in the story. When I unlocked item worlds, I was leveling those while leveling myself and making new characters all the time and making a long chain to transmit skills and so on. Then while leveling item worlds, I get other items, which makes the leveling of this one useless and so on. I was stuck in a never ending loop and had completely forgotten about playing the story cause I just wanted to level. If kid me knew about how easier it was to level if you did story, I might still be playing the game lmao.
@@Kazeshini11 yeah, that's definitely going to ruin your mood that way.
it's like those idle games that want you to reset your progress for a bonus... the proper method is to get as far as you can or you're just multiplying the time you spend by exponential amounts.
you probably wouldn't have spent even 100 hours to be ready to face the hardest versions of Baal in the disgaea games when done right
I used both the assault rifle
And the shot gun I forgot to finish the sentence
"Hit sub if KH player"
I'm already subbed but KH fanboy here!
I love your laugh it is very nice to listen to for some reason
Very cute Moogle outfit :)
Oh hey Thomas 😊 * follows*
I haven't broken any controllers by throwing *them* on the floor, but I have broken controllers because I throw myself on the floor (VR Games)
…I’m at 1:13, and this happened to me last night playing Once Human. Then I played for another hour.
Man, I recently 100% One Piece Pirate Warriors 4, and now I'm 100% OP World Seeker. And then the other One Piece games. Then Baldur's Gate 3, but that's in the backlog.
Players: Where's the dragon?
Me as DM: faerie dragon to give them that taste of it
I had to stop playing Kingdom Hearts for a little while because I had a PS2 CD that had a scratch right before going into Pooh's world. Had to get another copy just to continue playing.
Oh dipper, Subnautica is a horror game.
Did you EVER run into a leviathan-class entity, or see the spots on your hands?
the only games i've 100% are Hollow Knight (all-time fav btw) and Stick Fight the Game (bc why not ig)
7:17 I once got a message says my save data couldn’t be accessed and it asked if I wanted to make a new profile. Said no and luckily my save was there and working anyways. There were 200 hours on that save. I would’ve never played again
19:00 I agree whole heartedly. Best peak gameplay when you can pet animals/things. 😌👌
