only thing i can add to that would be shutter speed, for lighting for movement adjust the shutter speed as well to get the details to pop and bring noise down, another superb video with lots of great advice, thanks

Some great tips in this video Scott. It’s great to be able to share these videos on UA-cam. I don’t rely on eye detect either. I’ve always got a button assigned to single point just in case. Thanks for the video mate 👍🙏

Great advice, as ever, Scott. Thank you.
The problem of the deer in the grass, where the camera focuses on the mid-ground blade of grass irritated me for ages. Having a Sony A7R3 I switched to DMF in Focus Mode. It still carries out autofocus - but I can override that with the focus ring. Best of both worlds.

Great tip David, as you probably know I have the lens buttons on my 200-600 set to toggle between manual and autofocus so its quick and easy. On this occasion I was using an OM-1 and 100-400 lens so hadn't set it up fully to my normal settings!👌👍

Hi Scott, I really enjoyed the video and got great tips from it. With your help, when I asked you about exposure compensation previously, this function has been a game changer for me! Re software, I use Topaz Denoise and I really like it. Have you used it? If so what do you think of it?
As always thanks for the advice and see you on the next one 📸👍🏽

Hi Lee, I haven't used Topaz but believe it performs at the same level as DXO Pureraw. Thanks for watching, see you on the next one🙏👍

Great tips. I am a bit confused by this ‘noise reduction’ software…I use Lightroom at the moment. Is there any NR software you would recommend..thanks 😊

Hi, I know that a couple of years ago dedicated noise reduction software was much better than the noise reduction offered in photo editing software, however, I understand that the noise reduction in Lightroom has now closed the gap. As I say i use DXO Pureraw however I would take a look at ua-cam.com/video/879e3jEZ3iA/v-deo.html and this might steer you in the right direction!👍

My problem is that there’s nothing ever out happening in the prime photography hours and I need the 840mm to get close enough so the photos are never professional looking.

I understand how frustrating it can be when you don't have the perfect conditions for your photography. Have you tried exploring different locations or subjects to capture during prime photography hours? When you watch UA-cam videos it can seem like we are all out there scoring amazing images every session. If only that was true! Unfortunately I suspect no-one would watch if I put out all my epic fails!!

@@scotttilleyphotography I went out to a lake about an hour North today, the Bald Eagles finally came in at nearly 11 in the morning. Lots and lots of soaring shots as they circled, even with 840mm-640 ISO and 2500 Shutter nothing was tack sharp as they stay so high there’s facial distortion. Same with a pair of Red Tailed Hawks that came in and ran the Eagles off, good action but great distance ruins the fun.

I had the same issue with Marsh Harriers a couple of weeks ago. At the reserve they just don't come close enough. However, I have since had a word with a fellow photographer who has given me information on a different spot outside the reserve he gets much closer images. Undoubtedly if I get some results you will see them on the channel👌👍
