  • Episode 21: Ashley Campbell
    ReleasedAug 03, 2016
Ashley Campbell! This girl is a true beauty inside and out. She is the daughter of legendary Glen Campbell, and a badass in her own right. She plays the banjo better than any person on the planet, and is an incredible artist. She has a deal at Big Machine Records and her first single was a tribute to her father called "I'll Do the Remembering." She tells me how Alzheimer's has not just affected her dad, but her family, and she talks all about touring with him on his Goodbye Tour and the making of his documentary "I'll Be Me." She is so real, honest and a ray of light. And her talent is to the moon and back! Annnnd her beloved dog Frodo helps me do some of the interview :)

Sweet voice + songwriter + musical talent playing different instruments + beauty = Excellent! Dear Ashley, sorry about your dad Alzheimer's disease, and for passing away! What a great country singer and talent he was too! He was not selfish and he gave you his talent and a sweet voice on top of it. You are gifted and blessed to have all these combinations! I just wonder, this interview was done 3 years ago... how come you don't have more musical albums done by now! I love your songs and singing watching you on UA-cam and streaming your music. I live in Phoenix too. So, I'm proud to have something in common with you in the past. ☺ I also like your attitude for being a shy, funny, kind, and down to earth person. Hope to hear more new and beautiful songs from you soon. God bless you! 🌷🇺🇸

I have a special place in my heart for the population of people and families of the affected with alzhimers. I had the nicest little elder lady neighbor who later succomed to alzhimers, I really enjoyed talking and spending time with her I called it as being like the movie "50 first dates" , because I got to listen about her experiences growing up and listening about her great family she had even after marriage for years every day without complaints. She and her husband would meet us on the back patio where I would be grilling and they would enjoy the meal with my wife and myself. She had a small Jack Russell (there is a special story of him getting lost and when he saw me came running great distance on golf course leaping into my arms), each and every visit she made the comment that I must be a pretty good guy because her pet liked me (COULD HAVE BEEN THAT AT TIME I SMELLED GOOD FROM THE GRILL, and I always made sure that he got a taste also!) They were great neighbors for several years, until she took the pet for his daily walk and she got lost I the neighborhood she sit down on storefront bench outside the neighborhood across the street from our subdivision until found. Later that week she was relocated to a specialized home for care. Her husband visited every day until her loss. He was a retired naval World War 2 veteran, picture in the paper, I really enjoyed talking and listening about his travels and his family that he is so proud of. Sadly he has moved to the other side of the state to an elderly home to be closer to his son and better transportation afforded to the community. He will be missed! I still call his home be his name and continue to look at it and wonder if the possibility of a return or visit may happen. I could go on with more details but enough from me, I will always treasure the memories of my dear friends and neighbors they were very special. I think the Campbell family are all talented and listening to their music brings such joy. (I am related to I'm sure different family of Campbells, my Great grandparents were Campbell located in East Tennessee. I remember my Great Grandmother playing banjo n the front porch on their 60th wedding anniversary, such a special memory.

So I've been watching some of your music and Ashley and find it quite good and enjoyable listening to. I would have never guessed you had a tattoo of a knife on your arm. I'm a knife maker and I have no knife tattoos or any tattoos at all. I was thinking of doing some form of knife but I make so many different types that it's hard to pick one and I don't want a whole bunch of tattoos.

Awkward interview with the microphones being held. First I have ever watched this so unaware of the style. Ashley is really a great talent.
