Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
    How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbitl in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
    Never quit,
    Alex
    FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

@@marceljank1 I'm not the OP, but I make $10k USD / month (coaching business/YT channel). Took me about 4 years of consistent building to get to this point - I've created 1500 pieces of free content across all my platforms (including a couple of books and video courses). It really is just showing up every day, over a long enough period of time that it all adds up.

You make it easy and digestible, that in itself, makes it entertaining, because I don’t have to rack my brain trying to make business/marketing concepts relatable to real life. You guys do that. ❤Thanks for the video. Sharing my summary note:
00:00 Success is not easy and often goes unnoticed. Embrace the difficulty and effort required for achieving success.
01:23 Entrepreneurship primarily involves communication with leaders, employees, vendors, and customers on a daily basis.
02:00 In business, valuable connections, influence, and introductions become more valuable than money at a certain point.
06:42 Growth is painful and involves becoming aware of deficiencies, filling gaps, and adapting to new challenges.
12:47 Prioritizing a mission to make real business education accessible for everyone over pursuing monetary success, the speaker aims to stand for something more than just financial gains.
13:15 Striving to make real business education accessible and entertaining for everyone, including stay-at-home moms, requires continuous improvement in clarity and entertainment value.
13:57 Highlighting the trade-off between growth and comfort, the speaker suggests that embracing discomfort is necessary for personal and professional development.

Your videos keep getting REALER and REALER. It's like everything is getting boiled down to its component parts. Thank you for breaking it down on such a raw and relatable level. Feels like I've learned so much from both of you, and it'd especially be interesting to hear you two discuss your (I believe) conflicting views like perspective of admitting / identifying as a certain persona (e.g. the Alcoholics Anonymous intro point about saying "I'm ____ and I'm an alcoholic")

Thank you Hormozi. I think this video has forever changed my perception of entrepreneurship. It’s one thing for people to talk about the “boring day-to-day work” but to see it makes it less of an abstraction. I’ve been dealing with a lot on my journey. Thank you.

    Great vid.
    Congrats to the team.
And beautiful to appreciate more Leila’s work.
I’m gonna start checking her content more often.
Something around communication and formulas to say nice and not so nice things would be great.
I believe many entrepreneurs damage relationships because of wounds from being misunderstood and their overachieving mentality. That leads to unnecessary pain and loneliness.
Bringing a healthier relational and communicative approach would be super valuable.
    Speaking for a friend😂

    "Alex Hormozi Meets a Psychologist"
I wonder what could be uncovered from delving into his true secret psychology.
If everyone has a public, private and secret life. I wonder what Alex's secret life is.
For example, every noticed that he has NEVER talked about his mother. Not once. He talks all the time about his troubled relationship with his father, but never his mother (or lack of her existence in his life.)

Oh wow this spoke so much truth I LOVE IT - the reality behind the 'image' of what it takes to make money, run a business, that it takes deeper thought about what makes putting up with all the BS worth it. I resonated with your comment about having less friends as you get older, and I feel a lot of it is because you realise a lot of 'friends' were just a transactional relationship. Thanks for sharing Alex! Keep well everyone! 🙂

If you’re reading this Alex, little psychological life hack, make your Laptop camera more eye level (doesn’t have to be completely). When it’s too low, youre communicating with the person from a dominant view point on their screen.
This can make you seem more intimidating subconsciously, you want to lower your self especially if you’re speaking to someone extremely important. Try place your laptop camera only slightly below eye level.

Everything looks perfect from far away...too right about that. Gotta get up close to see the details and that hurts because it's not as perfect as it seems...

🚀 Wow, this video is a goldmine of insights and raw truths about entrepreneurship! I love how it strips away the glamorous facade often associated with success and dives deep into the daily grind, the hustle, and the rollercoaster ride of growth. The part about the jagged nature of growth really hit home - it's so true that the closer you zoom in, the more you feel the knife's edge of the ups and downs.
What caught my attention is the emphasis on communication as a fundamental part of entrepreneurship. It's not just about private jets and fancy cars; it's about navigating through countless calls, meetings, and zooms. It's refreshing to see the behind-the-scenes reality.
Also, the insights about friendships and the unicorn best friend criteria were thought-provoking. The idea that friendships often happen by accident rather than design is something I hadn't really considered.
Lastly, the discussion on the price of comfort and growth is a powerful reminder that discomfort is often the gateway to progress. Would love to hear your thoughts on these points or if there's a specific part of the video that resonated with you!

When deep in the grind (working every day week after week for no income, which is just part of building a business up from zero) I always remind myself:
discomfort is the dragon that guards the gold...

What I have learned over the past 2 decades talking to thousands of millionaires at various levels is there are hundreds to thousands of ways to scale and make money. The real question you learn overtime is what KIND OF LIFE do you want to be living on a daily basis? That's the key to daily bliss, fulfillment, and happiness. One route I can go can make 1 billion over my lifetime the other 400 million but at WHAT COST? 2 billion, 20 billion, etc. doesn't mean sh*t once the clock starts running out. You can't get back those years. Personally I would not want the Homozi life but glad it works for him. You have starting families with kids and then have aging parents. The money you were so focused and chasing 24/7 becomes way more down on the stack. It's important but a smaller piece of the puzzle. These people working 10hr to 12 hr days once you get older in age from 20's to 30's to 40's and 50's you see life through a different filter of what matters.
