I like the your practical approach to reefing. You regularly adapt kit to suit your needs but the adaptions always look like professionally made kit. The Kessel mounts look great.
@@inthedogghouse86 that is a 0.8mm pitch and yeah around that length. Just tighten it up gently to ensure you are not too long and pushing in on the circuit board
Thought I’d share a tip from reefing with Felicia for those of us not as strong as Sam. Put the male locline piece in the freezer and the female piece in hot water. Much easier to push together
Definitely saving this to my created list on youtube. I've been impressed by your dream reef tank and will sure implement some of your ideas into my tank once I start.
Great way to mount those Kessil a360x lights Sam. It gives you more diversity in positioning the lights. I used them before on my frag tank with good results.
So many great ideas, thanks for that! I'm building almost the exact same tank like yours, same Stand, custum sump,..... Receiving my coral cares today,I'm so exited!! Cheers from Austria, stay save!
Awesome content as always man. Totally using this idea on the new build. Hope you have enough lighting on that tank, might have to stick with softies at the moment lol.
Creative idea, awesome. With the amount of par your are putting in...what is your process for introducing new corals/fish...Do you run any acclamation schedule?
@@ParkersReef I think I found a website that sells the exact ones just wasn’t sure on the lengtha you used, but I’ll buy a bunch of sizes to be safe lol! I’m also trying to find M5 Tstuds for my Radions them is a little harder to locate 😑
This is AWESOME! - I think this is the best use case for Kessils... especially mounted at the front and pointing back so the corals grow up forward to the way tou view the tank. Plus they will add great shimmer... would this work with the smaller Kessils in terms of enough light / shimmer for your tank? Like if you had 5 of the smaller ones instead of 3 of the 360x's? The think about the X is the spectrum - I think there is more UV in there and the color is probably nicer - hope they upgrade the smaller lights soon ;)
I love Kessils and the shimmer they provide but the fact that you have to mount 3 of them to supplement makes me think less of the Philips Coralcare......Oh yea, I forgot about the Orphek light bars too.
I have an aquarium with a hood (AQUAVISION C25). I recently bought a Kessil a80 with the small gooseneck. My question is, with a hood, would the gooseneck or directly mounted to the hood be the best option? I just don’t want the Kessil to get wet😳 But it’s a $1,200 bubble speciality aquarium 🐠
yeah you might want to give it a little distance from the water to ensure that it doesn't get wet. That being said, the a80 has no fan so it is a little more protected - but still :D
Kessils are not water proof, not many lights are! Yes you need to be careful, that being said - with genuine locline it is quite difficult to separate the knuckles, take a pretty decent “accident” to pop them apart
Great video Sam once again!! The links don’t seem to be working ?is it possible send me what parts I need exactly for your setup and I will find them? Thank you mate
ah thanks for pointing that out, modular hose must have updated their site! I've revisited the links and updated for the new site. If you are in Australia, hit up deer park aquarium, they got the bits in too :)
“Save for later” So simple but extremely effective and innovative. My hat goes off to you mate.
Thank you sir!
Next week are we adding radions!? The most well lit aquarium ever! Totally awesome..
Hahaha perhaps radions on another tank ;)
Man. You spared all reef user at least a usd100 on lights arm. That was amazing
Hahaha glad I could help!

Thanks mate, I appreciate that!
Very cool idea. Always with the thinking cap on Mr. Parker!
I try my best!
Legend Sam!
Thanks very much. These are far better than trying to setup a ram mount to suit
Happy to help!
Sam... you are the man! I've have been searching everywhere to custom mount my xr15! Keep up the great work mate and thanks!
My pleasure :)
You just blew my mind. I need to do this to my lights. Thanks for the video
Glad it was of use!
You said u used a m5 bolt. Is that with a 0.8mm pitch and 35mm long
@@inthedogghouse86 that is a 0.8mm pitch and yeah around that length. Just tighten it up gently to ensure you are not too long and pushing in on the circuit board

Ingenious adaptation Sam, works a treat mate. 👍🏴

very nice... simple yet infinitely adjustable
That’s the plan!

I’m honoured, thanks mate!
Hey Sam, so cool. Would not have thought of that solution.

Thanks for the awesome idea! Wish I saw this earlier
Glad it was helpful, all be it, a little late :P
Brilliant idea. Thank you for sharing.
hope it helps!
Bloody hell Sam it will be lit up like the MCG !!!!
Gotta put it under lights!!!
Great video. That's a lot of supplemental light.
haha yeah, its a bit over the top!
Thanks for your fantastic work! Super helpful
keen to see what you do with it :D

They’re awesome on these mounts, can target any spot in the tank!
I’ve been trying to think how to suspend lights above my tank and do something like this! Really slick idea man.
Glad it will help 👍🏻
This is pure genius mate

Great idea!! Could even drill holes in the loc line to feed the cabling through
You bet!!
It's brilliant! Amazing how the simplest ideas are the best. 👍👍👍
For sure!!!
Hey Sam another awesome idea. Can you please share the suppliers of the titanium bolt & Nut & T Slot bit. Thanks
EBay was my source mate, but the seller has long gone 😅
This is a sneaky good idea
Hehehe you bet
Well played. I’ve been wanting to supplement my a360s with my a160 at an angle the same way you’ve done. This may be the trick I use. Thanks
Glad to hear it will help!

I have the lights turned down for now, can dial it up once things get cranking along
Very smart !!! Would never have thought of that!
I saw it used on other things and stole the idea, works bloody well though!!
@@ParkersReef don’t need it at the moment but if I ever have a gigantic build maybe hahaha

Thanks Joe! Sorry for not seeing your comment till now!
Very cool. I had no idea loc-line made that bolting piece.
Yeah I kinda stumbled across it and my mind raced!
Awesome video buddy, found this video very informative
Glad to hear 👍🏻
Sam can you show me the link for the titanium bolts your using to connect them? Thanks!
they were just some titanium bolts I had laying around from my old motorsport days.

YEEEEEESSSS. Thank you!

Yes good and informative vid, but how many more lights are you going to put over the tank? The philips and orphek were not enough?
Had them in the cupboard collecting dust, why not Chuck them on!

It’ll work with any kessil, I had these (and a couple more) from the old tank, so it’s easy enough to add them and turn them down :)
Excellent use of that stuff! But. Man you have over lighted that tank!
Never!!!!
Great idea.
Cheers 👍🏻

Didn’t need them to supplement, had them from my previous build and figured I’d add some shimmer. Better than sitting in the cupboard!
@@ParkersReef Gotcha. That makes sense.
Genius!!!
Thank you!
M5 by what length for the screw that mount the loc-line to the light?
I can’t recall what length, but it was only about 5mm longer than the locline mount. Not a lot of thread in the top of the kessil

What is the length of the screw that is mounting the lock line base to the light?
thank you for sharing this idea!!!
Keep it as short as you can, I think I used 20mm bolts which were just enough to get through the locline fitting and a good few threads into the light
@@ParkersReef Thanks for the reply!! you ROCK DUDE!!!

Be carefully with those while adjusting them. They can pop off while adjusting and have those fall in the water. Dont know if kessils are water proof.

So what is the purpose of the 360x on the DT . Though you had more than enough light already 🙄
I do, but they give such a lovely shimmer
Genius, but why, need that kessil shimmer? Or more par??
Shimmer :)
Needs more 💡, saw a shadow on the top arch
Lol good one :p
everything is led, get some t5 or metal halide in there for the corals health
Philips coral care is honestly like MH, it’s not like any other LED out there
That’s a great idea! On a side note stop adding stuff in the tank without showing us. We wanna see that.
