    The picture on UA-cam looked so similar to the earlier video I nearly missed part 3. Can’t really think why I find these so interesting but I do. It is your methodical work and systematic approach which fascinates.

    Very good outcome Steve. I am sure a number of viewers will be surprised at how far back electronics were found in non top-end European domestic vehicles, especially ignition systems. The requirement for reduced noxious emissions drove electronics in ignition systems more than fuel economy and increased performance in the 70's, though economy and performance were both side benefits that was quickly capitalised be vehicle manufacturers. Keep up the good work you do keeping these older vehicles running. 👍.

    Steve... I'm jealous, you make it look soooooo easy. Just amazing diagnostics.

    A usual calm Steve approach yields a usual calm Steve success!! The fact that you can get these old girls running after such long periods of inaction shows how good the basic design has proven to be. I wonder if a 2022 car will be able to be brought back to life in 2052 as easily? Somehow I doubt it...

    Nice to see that you got the Bronco running. I've head those Dura Spark boxes are a big pain in the rear. The Fords in my immediate family have been pre and post dura spark so I have not been blessed with one yet.

    Enjoyed the video. As the original owner of a 1976 Bronco [302, automatic trans], I can attest to ignition module failures. Have had to replace 3 times over the years. I carry a spare as previous failures left me stranded. I noticed that some of the engine parts are located slightly different than mine. I have front disc brakes and wonder if this one does?

    It now runs with a little fettling if the clutch is not stuck then it should drive, don't know about stopping but one step at a time 😉. Thanks Steve. 👍

    Was the old ignition module indeed faulty? Or did it not work due to the missing ground connection?

    • @ThisWeekWithCars
      @ThisWeekWithCars  Рік тому +3

      The ground was working in the last video when I tested it. I might have had a jumper pack providing ground to the body at the time...

  • @davidpawson7393

    I wonder if the lack of ground caused the IM to get hot and melt the goo. I've owned many old Fords and never replaced one except for one I did for a customer with ground problems that looked the same after Joe Schmoe replaced the engine using scissors apparently.

    • @ThisWeekWithCars
      @ThisWeekWithCars  Рік тому

      The IM is a very common fault on this year Ford, usually people get rid of it all together but I need to keep this original.

    Will that ground be heavy enough- if you have headlights, wipers and heaters on etc ?

    • @ThisWeekWithCars
      @ThisWeekWithCars  Рік тому +1

      This is just to get it running to test the driveline, then it will be torn down the chassis for a full restoration.
