I'm honestly happy you made this video, the Finish MBR's history is rarely talked about and i tried and failed getting information ever since i saw カフェオレ selling them in their bigbird series of 1/144 scale models.
Director Hayao Miyazaki's love of reciprocating aircraft can be clearly seen in his drawings of planes from around the world. The various types of reciprocating military aircraft depicted by Japanese manga artist Reiji Matsumoto, famous for his ‘Le capitaine Albatol.’, are also very elegant and beautiful. Japanese children of my generation grew up reading their depictions of the drama of nameless soldiers on the fringes of the battlefields of Europe.
Finnish air force history is really interesting! If you run out of ideas, the Blackburn Ripon, Gloster Gladiator, and the Westland Lysander have interesting histories in WW2 FAF
Many seaplanes and flying boats have been developed and produced in the island nation of Japan. That is why we Japanese have a special romantic interest in Italian and German flying boats. I am grateful to you for digging up this little history of flying boats in a corner of Europe and introducing it to me.
Oh you're Japanese? I've actually desperately been looking for a native Japanese speaker to help with some primary Japanese documents I've got. Feel free to get in touch: aviationdeepdive@gmail.com
Lord Francis Ford Semphill illegally showed the Japanese how to fly on and off aircraft carriers. Japan had no idea how to do it. We had to show them how to make carriers, this was in the 20s, It was also the British Attack at Toranto with Swordfish torpedo planes that gave the Japanese the confidence to attack pearl harbour (even though the allied command knew it was coming but wanted an excuse to bring America into the war).
Germans werent brave, they were killing civilians and made holocaust to few nations. You are pretending that your austrian father did nor want this war and now you are happy of nazi germans who murdered milllions.

Yeah, it's definitely a pretty niche part of history, but cool nonetheless! Thanks for the support

🙏Thanks for the vid... Especially telling me about the S2👍.., love that thingy, beautiful plane.
Greetings bibia
I actually quite like the Shavrov. Would like one for recreational flying.
Seems that's quite a common sentiment, as a few are still flying with private pilots. You could probably find one for sale!
Good to know.@@aviationdeepdive
@@aviationdeepdiveIt would be a very handy little plane in my area on the lake Saimaa.
These remind me of the Pirate's aircraft in "Porco Rosso".
The S2 is a pretty little plane. I could imagine them on the Civil register in another place and time
Great work 👍
I watched Miyazaki 's Porco Roso the other day, these planes would fit right in.

That means a lot 🥹
The Finns were as tough as the brave Germans.
You mean tough?
@@HerrKurt Exactly!

It's save Finnish military budget as free 😅
Beriev is pronounced "Berry-Ov", not Bereev.
It’s literally not though, Bereev (Бериев) is pronounced with an ee sound. ие does not make an O sound.
It sounds like Beri-yev
