In this Jewish history crash course, David discusses the biblical period of Jewish history, from Abraham to the return from the Babylonian exile and the building of the second temple in Jerusalem.
Don't miss this fascinating lecture in which David examines, among other things:
    - the emergence of early Jewish life and its place within the context of regional and world history
the immeasurable contribution of the Tanach as a spiritual and moral document as well as a historical record
the historical context of each of the books of the Bible and their cultural significance
the essential stories, messages, and themes of each of the books of the Bible
the complex history of the Land of Israel, its people and rulers
the spiritual revolution of the prophets of Israel
the impact of exile on the biblical narrative
the intersection between biblical records and independent historical evidence
the reverberations of biblical history in later Jewish history
This is the final part of David Solomon's renowned six-part lecture series that explores the past 4,000 years of Jewish history, filled with extraordinary events and remarkable figures whose contributions changed the world.

I just recently stumbled across your videos. What I knew about Jewish history I could have written on the back of a postage stamp. I have learned so much just watching your six part discourse on Jewish history...Bayit Sheni, Talmudic period, Geonic Period, the Rishonim, the Acharonim and I now on part 6 the Tanakh. I plan on watching as many videos of your as I can. You are an amazing speaker and you speak with such great clarity even for the beginner as myself. Learning all of this incredible history has truly brought me happiness. Toda raba. Shalom.

Dear David. Hugely fascinating and insightful. Did I miss mention of Judith among the books you summarized? Thanks very much

Hello Robert, thank you, we're really pleased you enjoyed the talk. Judith was not mentioned because she is not actually a book in the Tanach (Hebrew Bible). In the Jewish, the Book of Judith is considered part of the apocrypha. Many thanks, Marjorie Solomon

Hello David, mazal tov on gifting us with this beautiful series of lectures. BH we are still striving and carrying on the “devar Hashem”. It was because of shiurim like these that I found online, I finally did tshuvah. My grandparents went to Brazil from Europe in the late 1930’s, and adopted different last name meaning “Oak tree” and raised their family away from Judaism, inside the Catholic Church. That fact always bothered me somehow, and before passing at age 98, my grandmother left me a “metal cup” (a kiddush coz), which was the key element for me to return to her roots, and ultimately my own roots. I converted into Judaism, just as an official step, because my nefesh has always been Yehudi. I thank you for making this series available to everyone. May Hashem bring His Mashiach soon in our time!

Wait no magic rituals to invoke El? so why does God Elohim need to smell incense , enjoy the sweet smell of burning animal fresh ,gallons of blood spilled on an altar and other rituals? Lets not talk about invoking angels as kabbalists do. Its all magical ritual. The only difference is invoking holiness verses evil spirits.
