A couple of years from now, he will be showing off his Patek Phillippe.
The pain of being a watch, knife, and gun collector is almost too much to bear...... almost.
No, it is to much to bear. Lol. Gun cost really ain't that bad but ammo prices these days sucks. Damn near cost about a grand just to enjoy a couple hours at the range these days. I almost shit last time I wanted to shoot my AR chambered in .458 Socom. Ammo was anywhere from $50 to $110 for a box of 20 rounds. Needless to say I went through 3 mags and spent $150 for about 15min of enjoyment. Hell, It costs me $500+ for a 1000rds of Fiocchi Range Dynamics FMJ ammo just to practice with my .40cal EDC for about 2 hours. Granted my buddies and I did some shooting drills as well but that's BS to say the least.
buy we have a right to bear it, a right to bear cool shit
good thing you’re not a motorcycle and car collector as well. the pain would be too much
All that's left now is to add baitcaster fishing reels n flashlights
Immediately i hear this in my head: "Do NOT get into watches." LOL
You speak the truth good Sir 😂
Watches are amazing but just like with knives, do your homework before you start purchasing anything over $500. And FYI, once you get your first nice watch, just like with knives you won't be able to stop so keep that in mind, lol. Peace
@@timothy9596 not to mention after you have a horde of watches, your preference will change and you’re left with a bunch of watches you don’t wear anymore 😂!! Literally all of my friends who are getting into the watch collecting hobby I warn them about the mistakes I made and tell them to tread lightly 🤣!!
Funny thing, I am a watch guy that turned knife guy.
Me too. Im on my way selling my watches. Just keeping my Oris Aquis (green) and my zelos bronze. 😅
I’m a watch guy who turned into a knife guy. My wife blames you by the way. I love my Prospex, I have the tortoise shell. Looking to get the yellow face one.
Same here, though I’ve never entered the sell phase. I just keep everything. In fact, this is as good a reason as any to swap watches. Tudor Black Bay Bronze goes back in the box, MKII Key West comes out.
Same here! I havent worn a Seiko in years, but the Prospex line is amazing
Same here. There's no way I'd sell any of my watches to finance a knife though, lol.
I’m wearing my MM300 (SLA053) a USA exclusive limited to 500 pieces. My favorite watch for sure.
They have a Monoblock case which make it a saturation diver without the need of a helium escape valve.
The whole watch is hand built by Grand Seiko using a half built Grand Seiko movement. It’s also hand finished by Grand Seiko.
That watch is a beast! Enjoy!
Back in the old days, before dive computers were a thing and watches became a backup timer, the bezel would have the first 15 or 20 minutes highlighted to be used for timing the ascent and any stops at the end of a dive. They would calculate how much time they could stay at the bottom, and set the 0 minute on the bezel to the time when ascent should begin.
The VAST majority of people have no clue how a dive watch is meant to be used. More of a statement piece than being used. Heck, I personally know a handful of people that don't even know how to tell time from an analog watch.
@cassidyheaton1586 I buy them because I enjoy them. I love that anyone with the funds can buy them without needing special info or having to be part of some sort of gatekeepers club. The item can be whatever the buyer wants it to be. Permission doesn't need to be granted by "the watch community".
Same with knives, guns, cars, etc. Relax and live your life.
I have this exact watch and love it. I just bought a new case and parts to customize it. The really cool part about these Seikos is that there are tons of parts available to customize it.
I love my Seikos (not as expensive as yours) because its my first real watch and theyre a legendary company. But most of time I'm wearing Phoibos watches. I love the logo (a Chthulu head) and one of the watches has a marble carbon fiber face which I love as a knife guy and carbon fiber being my favorite material. Their quartz 1,000 meter diver is bomb proof and looks awesome (yes, i wear quartz sometimes) and the amount of features you get for the money is great. I also love my Spinnaker 40 Fathoms homage watch.
For that price it better have a sapphire glass and a ceramic bezel. No Hardlex for $2200
It is
@@metal_complex I thought so from the looks, but just making sure. Definitely a beautiful watch, but I'd never spend that much on one. I do love my modded Seiko though. Something iconic about their brand and the first nice watch I ever bought myself.
Wow I wasn’t expecting this. I’m a watch collector venturing into the world of knives and Seiko is my go-to watch, also I’m rocking my MM200 (new version) while I clicked on this video 😂 !! Congrats on purchasing a grail watch of many collectors to include myself
$2250?!
You could of bought like....
🤔
...like 7 Benchmade bugouts!
Are these baby steps to a Rolex?
It’s a gateway watch.
Metal Complex, Yay! I liked this video so much, it made me smile!
Seiko is a must-have. Although I mostly wear G-shock. Because I don't care if I mess it up. And I am yet to mess up one to the point that I have to retire it.
They run like a tank. But I absolutely love Seiko!
I also collect watches and knives. I think it's the functional art that gets me excited. I hope you do more show and tell with watches in the future!
Hey bro what’s your grail watch? Just curious.
I can't wait until you get into the Tudors, Rolexes, Omega. Seiko is a solid brand. They've become extremely popular over the past few years!
Correction you've already got yourself a Tudor!
Fun fact! The marine master’s movement 8l35 is made in the grand seiko factory, and was designed originally for grand seiko. Real high end watch there. I got it in green and love it
I've been wearing a Bulova for 20 years and it's never lost a second and still looks good. It's only a $200 watch, but that's good enough to tell time. I like Seiko, but I don't like really thick, heavy watches. Thin and light is my deal.
I like both knives and watches/clocks and have basically all my life without knowing why. I also like a ton of art, architecture, engineering, etc. in general.
I have 2 Prospexes in my collection. I really like them. Congrats on your new acquisition
Welcome to the Marinemaster gang🔥 you got it at a great price! One of my favorite pieces in my collection
I only have the one “nice” watch which is the Citizen Calibre 8700. It was 575 beans 18yrs ago. I love the eco-drive.
I have an eco drive that I bought at Christmas and I definitely have been loving it.
Im the opposite because I'll never wear a metal band (unless it's maybe titanium) because of the weight and i live in the desert and they get hot. I love my strechy canvas bands, they're light, stretch with arm movements and you can switch out different ones to match your clothes.
I definitely feel he's not giving other bands a fair shake!
Omg I had an Oris 15 years ago....
Thought knives were less dangerous 😂
One day I'll score the Seiko Marine Master Black Tuna. Seriously one of my favorite watches of all time and not that crazy expensive either sub 1500usd. For now happy with casioak for EDC and cheap citizen for dressier occasions
you have any grand seikos?
Just getting into watches and it amazes me what I already think is affordable. Compared to my knives. I have expensive knives. But I didn’t start of spending $800 on knives (I got there), whereas w Watches… went there immediately. And have a few on my radar that are 3-4k. And I haven’t gotten to 3-4k w knives yet.
Just bought a spring drive myself. Enjoy!
Metal Complex, Your videos always brighten my day, so I subscribed!
Thank you!
all of the dive watches tend to be thick af. i own the swiss precimax deep dive pro and its one of the much bigger watches you can find by nature of its 1000m water resistance. unfortunately it seems swiss precimax no longer makes watches and their domain is gone so all you can find anymore are cheap fakes and used listings.
Congrats, MC. That's about banger. My first hobby was watches. That is grail worthy
My dad was a jeweler and watch seller for like 40 years. High end watch collectors are a strange breed. The amount some of them would spend is wild! Some would regularly come in and buy a watch for say $25k, wear it 2-3 times, then come back like two months later and trade it in towards a new watch losing many thousands in the process. And some of them would do this a few times a year!
Nice acquisition! Yeah I don't know what it is with watches, knives, bags, multi tools, and accessories and gadgets in general but I think if you like one of them chances are you like or will like all of them in time you just haven't gotten around to it yet😅 I don't know much about watches either except I have always liked them, and if you like chunky watches Ive got a rotund one for you. fairly recently I acquired an Invicta Reserve 0.43 carat diamond and mother of pearl dial Limited anniversary edition #022/300 model# 28884 I'm trying to let go of. If the urge for more handworn horolog hails you!
If you like the MM300 then you also need to try out a tuna, I've had one for 4 years and it's great. The case is referred to as a "monobloc" case. 4 seconds fast is very good, I had the same movement before and it was running 15 seconds fast so you got a good one. The bezel is only lumed to 20 for the purposes of timing a dive, I don't know the specific details though.
I have a small wrist so I have my eye on some JDM baby tunas, unfortunately they either have 4 series movements or are solar. The real tuna's are some of my favorite watches. Great story about how they came to be. Real tool stuff.
Please keep making these tangential collection videos. It's great to see what other folks are getting into (rocks, watches, pokemon cards, knives, etc...).
Bro it’s hard to believe you’re nearly at 500k. Congrats to you!
What are you doing with those paws dude? Im an IBEW Wiremen for 25 years and work out and my hands look like a babys next to yours. Bricklayer?
I have an SPB185, similar looking, much cheaper, has a stainless bezel which I really liked. It’s a solid watch.
I love this watch, and although I passed it up on my way to my Rolex Deep Sea Sea Dweller, I regret not buying one. I did buy a Grand Seiko SGBX117 diver, and have the Samurai and multiple Seiko Turtles though.
Great humble review .
what a nice watch i myself own a seiko king samuria made in japan and i love it its my only watch that i wear
Thanks for the watch content!
Watch guy here, who also is in to knives and guns…no wonder I’m always broke. Ha! Good job mixing in something new on your channel!
Seiko 5 is on my list. My first Tissot is on its way.
Watches and knifes just go together
Also a watch guy. Thanks for uploading this vid!
After you purchased the Pelagos you said that was your grail watch and I commented that there is always a new grail Well well here we are lol!
I've always been into firearms and knives, I could easily get into watch collecting, too. Lately, i am trying not to be so materialistic, resisting the urge to buy shlt I dont really need.
Funny thing is I was a watch guy (still am) who became a knife. So, I recognize your obsession and I match it sir!
You might want to check out Marathon watches
i’m predicting to eventually see your panerai review and then your royal oak offshore review before finally coming back to your rolex sea dweller review lol
Haha I was a watch guy that got sucked into knifes and edc in general. I enjoy all the japanese watch brands
I'm not into watches, but got a basic black on black on black Seiko Srpd79
I also have the MM300 and the 200. Check out the MM300 quartz also if you want to go down the rabbit hole...
I'm a knife/watch enthusiast too. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to see watch content on your channel... Jus sayin
I love that watch! However, I note that your watch collection has less variety than your knife collection. I feel like at this point you are allowed a rubber strap(even if you've decided you don't like them😂) or a badass field watch.
Nice purchase.
Not even a watch guy but I like that !
I kinda wanna get the Seiko x Transformers watch, but Tools for Gents’ diver is more in my price range. 😄
But, even then, an Apple Watch seems more useful. 🙃
Waiting for MC to discover nato straps...
Grand Seiko next?
A watch can't open the package of the next watch lmao 😂
Take a look at marathon GSAR type watches. Those are some chokers man.
Grand Seiko movement
Awesome looking Seiko. Seiko make some amazing pieces. My grail Seiko is the Titanium Grand Seiko 9ST1A Tourbillon which I'll more than likely never be able to afford. Lol. If you're ever in the market for another Seiko check out Long Island Watch Company. Mark is a great guy to work with and he usually has the more hard to find Seiko models. There's only one watch I want and I've been waiting for months for it to come back in stock. I really want to add the Formex Essence 39 with the wine colored dial to my collection. Saw it in stock just before Christmas and I decided to pass on it for a few weeks just to see it sadly sell out a few days before I was gonna pull the trigger on it. I have a Formex Essence 41 with the green milled dial and I absolutely love it, but it's just a tad to big for my wrist. When I saw the wine colored dial Essence 39 I immediately fell in love and It will be on my wrist as soon as I see it back in stock.
Try out some Jacob&Co Astronomia for a nice review 😂
Nice. My $10 Marathon tells the same time as that. Funny.
Yes to watches and yes to watch videos.
You should grand seiko
I prefer the tuna 1000m but it's just me
I thought it was going to be a pair of scissors.
Waiting for Nick's cry of despair.
Enjoyed this 🤠 👍
I love my samurai (save the ocean)❤❤
Hell, get into the Rolex realm, and $2200 is a drop in the bucket.
any watch collector needs to have a gshock 😉
I have one 😉
8 inches is pretty big buddy
Exactly! I could never dream of wearing a watch like this on my little wrist. I literally am always searching for ladies divers and 38mm or less😂.
Seiko supremacy (I really need to start saving for a snowflake...)
9.8 on the slap
For under $23 that isn't bad at all!!! I guess tax on $22.50 would be over $23.... Maybe I should start getting watches instead of knives and guns
I'm assuming you're kidding but I have to make sure 😂
@@metal_complexLol, the most expensive watch I own is a $250 one that I thought was crazy to buy but I never wear it anymore because I got a smart watch and it has my text and stuff come through so while I am working I don't have to have my phone out. I like watches I just would never justify the pricings but if you have the money and enjoy it then why not
Congratulations on your new toy (it's metal) now your new baby may cut into toy budget
Hey @metalcomplex when you wear the non metal bands, can I have a free knife 😅😅😅
Your name is METAL complex. Don't let any non-metal touch your wrist.
No AVERT YOUR EYES I can't afford to have 2 expensive hobbies
I was expecting a knife. I guess that's why you're "metal" and not "knife" complex
I think your in the cult now it's only a matter of time before you get a Grand Seiko
That’s not a knife…
This model is a rip off design of rolex submariner. You are telling us not to buy fake knifes.
Maybe do research on seiko divers before you make stupid claims
@@mattelness2027 You provide zero new information just a personal insult. Pls learn how to debate.
1953 - Rolex introduces the Submariner dive watch.
1965 - Seiko 1st diving watch
@@antonbor9039 just because it’s a dive watch with black dial and bezel doesn’t make it a copy
Also the marine master has a monocoque case, something Rolex has never done before. The crown is at 4 instead of 3, the bezels are different, the markers are different, the bezel is different.
@@antonbor9039 not to mention lugs are different, hands are different, and bracelet is different.
But it’s a dive watch so it must be a copy
Watches are made in Switzerland. Period.
Why are you tempting me!! 🤣
Thanks
I have a TAG link … my next luxurie watch probably be a … omega … grand seiko… ⏱️
