Good idea.. I would add two hydrodynamic outriggers toward the rear for more stability and bouyancy and then swap out for a a bigger motor, but It's cool contraption,if a little noisy.
i can only imagine how the people along the canal love that low muffled noise. wouldn't be surprise if you get hot dogs thrown at you from those trying to enjoy some peace and quiet is such a lovely setting.
It might not need a steering fin on the fan because you can steer the Kayak very easily with the paddle. You should consider installing an outrigger, for better lateral and longitudinal stability, i.e. to prevent rolling over and capsizing, and for better tracking, i.e. to keep going straight rather than slipping sideways.
I always was wondering about doing something like that, but did not think it would work. I am glad you did. It worked fine. Maybe with a 4 stroke it will be a little quieter. Wonder if a ruder would help keeping it steady. Anyway, fine work. Looks really good.
I havnt measured the thrust. but there are vids of these powering gokarts and bicycles. It took me about 100 hrs in all ,mostly research and development. I only plan on using it as a static display at the mo. Cheers
Very nice. I like it. It would likely go faster if you ditch the fan and rig up an underwater propeller. Also the engine is so loud. Ear plugs are indicated.
You might need that second directional flapper on the back to gain more power in turning corners..... There r white water kayaks that have square ends, flat bottoms. Then u might b able to use the propeller setup from the motorized para-sailer's to power your boat. Hydro plaining here you come.
Great for static display. possibly a little top heavy. Looked as though you almost did a half roll there a couple of times. maybe a 4 cycle mounted low as ballast and belt drive the prop?
what did you use for a prop hub? i'm planning to put a 3hp 4 stroke on a square stern canoe. direct drive. shouldn't need a reduction drive for that little prop.
@woody753397 1 HP is plenty. You were moving along at a really good clip. I thought I wasn't going to be impressed based on your statement but that's a really setup you got there.....make sure and wear hearing protection. LOL
Too heavy on top but it works and a good job by the maker. Couldn't it be made of two fans, one on each side mounted on pontoon- like floaters shape of torpedoes for added stability and control. I noticed he almost tipped over but saved by the paddle.
@ScoutCrafter Could you not get a muffler for a small engine instead of using your neighbors weed wacker? LOL And if you steal your neighbors muffler make sure your boot is open and empty first...lmao
In nature this makes too much noise🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 You go to nature to take a break from city noise. Put an electric motor instead of a gasoline engine. A stupid idea in this day and age
Dude.... Just.... You're my friggin hero !
Alright, now I have to start all over! That’s pretty good!
Good idea..
I would add two hydrodynamic outriggers toward the rear for more stability and bouyancy and then swap out for a a bigger motor, but It's cool contraption,if a little noisy.
awesome! The center of gravity must be pretty high with that setup. This makes me want to scrap my other plans and make one of these.
i can only imagine how the people along the canal love that low muffled noise. wouldn't be surprise if you get hot dogs thrown at you from those trying to enjoy some peace and quiet is such a lovely setting.
This is actually pretty awesome! Most vids I've seen of trimmer engine powered boats are really unsuccessful, but you pulled it off!
I done this on my inflatable kayak and it worked a treat but the noise got a lot of attention lol
Peaceful ........... maybe two of the steering control surfaces and some outriggers. Looks fun !
Geoffrey Carpenter imagine a paramotor setup mounted on that kayak chute and all....?
Man I hope you don't roll over in that, instant submarine... lol
Looks great I want to try this
Bravo dude, that was a decent idea, and put in to practice perfectly.
Yes! Very well engineered project my friend.

That was cool. Nice peaceful day on the lake...
Grand idea, i love it. well thought out there.
I always was wondering about doing something like that, but did not think it would work. I am glad you did. It worked fine. Maybe with a 4 stroke it will be a little quieter. Wonder if a ruder would help keeping it steady. Anyway, fine work. Looks really good.
Something else that might work well is a leaf blower. Aim the nozzle out the back and move the nozzle from side to side to steer.
It is verry loud but it look for a lot of fun! I like it and give you also a like.Take Care, and greetings fom Germany.
I havnt measured the thrust. but there are vids of these powering gokarts and bicycles. It took me about 100 hrs in all ,mostly research and development. I only plan on using it as a static display at the mo. Cheers
Run an exhaust into the water then you'll get a little more thrust and a lot less noise
Wiley Coyote Called & he wants it back.
Very nice. I like it.
It would likely go faster if you ditch the fan and rig up an underwater propeller. Also the engine is so loud. Ear plugs are indicated.
HAHAHA now i have to make one. Think i will use ear protection though.
Where can a guy order a prop to make one? Awesome idea!
You might need that second directional flapper on the back to gain more power in turning corners..... There r white water kayaks that have square ends, flat bottoms. Then u might b able to use the propeller setup from the motorized para-sailer's to power your boat. Hydro plaining here you come.
did you made any improovements to the design ??
Ahhh...the sound of silence
A more stable kayak with a rudder system would make a huge difference, great idea though.
Awesome but people in the UK hate noise!
Now if you were state-side people wouldn't mind so much! ;)
Great for static display. possibly a little top heavy. Looked as though you almost did a half roll there a couple of times. maybe a 4 cycle mounted low as ballast and belt drive the prop?
that sir...is all sorts of win
you need some pullies for the start up cord.and foot peddels to steer.. nice how many hp?
pointless putting it on a non planing hull. Good engineering though. Whats the prop off?
How's your hearing?
Could you say that again?
Very innovative. .kudos!
Very Cool.
Route the exhaust just under the water line to be more ear friendly, and maybe eek out just a little more thrust.
you get 20 out of 10 Magnificent
very clever keep it up.
Needs two steering fins behind the prop, will definitely increase control ..
That defeats the quiet purpose of a yak.
what did you use for a prop hub? i'm planning to put a 3hp 4 stroke on a square stern canoe. direct drive. shouldn't need a reduction drive for that little prop.
if you aim the fan blades slightly down you will go faster
wow..that works awsome.
Hi what propeller is it
As loud as that was in my headset, it has to have been even worse for you. Can you still hear at all? Looks like fun though.
Brilliant
awesome! can you roll it?
@woody753397 1 HP is plenty. You were moving along at a really good clip.
I thought I wasn't going to be impressed based on your statement but that's a really setup you got there.....make sure and wear hearing protection. LOL
terrible, absolutely terrible. I love it!
What kind of propeller is that specs make etc please and thank you !
That's awesome!!! Where can I get me one of these?
That's badass.
Interesting idea but very noisy contraption...
Contraption? I guess you have never seen an airboat I take it. Airboats are all over here in Florida.
Too heavy on top but it works and a good job by the maker. Couldn't it be made of two fans, one on each side mounted on pontoon- like floaters shape of torpedoes for added stability and control. I noticed he almost tipped over but saved by the paddle.
You RULE!!!!! : )
I love the old Mirage kayaks, but they have horrible tracking on still lake water.
Whoohoo AWSOM! boat.
Now add some wings and fly!
love it
How many HP did you put in? I'm not alone :D
Nice!
I think you can get bigger propeller for this motor
Rudder pedals would help...
Hi there, where did you get the propeler from? thanks
propeller supply store dot com
hum good desgine but might wanan try a stronger weed eater o
Fuckin love it!
Needs a rudder in the water at rear.
i want to make a bicycle into a boat but make it look as much like a bike as i can to generate wtf's
@ScoutCrafter Could you not get a muffler for a small engine instead of using your neighbors weed wacker? LOL And if you steal your neighbors muffler make sure your boot is open and empty first...lmao
USE EAR PROTECTION...GET SOME FOAM PLUGS 32DB RATING
Quanto rumore!, . Io vado con l’elica ma a pedali, si sente solo il rumore dolce dell’elica!
Interesting idea, just way too loud so it's just not practical.
Silencer for exhaust.
Nice! Does it come with ear plugs? And more importantly, where's the duct tape?
so much for the peacful countryside
The speed is good, the noise is not.
turbo!!!!!!
not a canoe...its a kayak.
kayak
There he goes, ruining the peace and quiet of an otherwise bucolic area.
That's the wrong accent for redneck!
too much noise for too little pay off.
He's English...
I'll bet that was good for your ears hearing loss??
Make it electric
dude its a sit in kayak..... come on man get it right
Not for fishing
I came for a conoe
it's NOT A CANOE.
Yeah no
Not good
this is were god f'd up.....people keep eating the fruit.....
